Oak Lawn is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 58,362 at the 2020 census. Oak Lawn is a suburb of Chicago, located southwest of the city. It shares borders with the city in two areas but is surrounded mostly by other suburbs.

Advocate Christ Medical Center (ACMC) is a 788-bed teaching hospital located in Oak Lawn, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. Founded in 1960, Advocate Christ Medical Center is a part of Advocate Aurora Health. In the most recent year with available data, the hospital had 40,517 admissions, 3,738 deliveries, 102,279 ED visits, 334,958 outpatient visits, and 24,745 surgeries. The emergency room includes a level 1 trauma center. The hospital operates a primary stroke center and a pulmonary rehabilitation center. ACMC operates a number of residency training and fellowship programs for newly graduated physicians, pharmacists and podiatrists. Each year, more than 400 residents, 600 medical students, and 800 nursing students train at the hospital. In 2016, ACMC opened a new eight story patient tower.

Advocate Children's Hospital (ACH) is an academic pediatric acute care children's hospital located in Oak Lawn and Park Ridge, Illinois. The hospital has 259 pediatric beds and 150 bassinets between its two campuses. Advocate Children's operates a number of residency programs, which train newly graduated physicians in various pediatric specialties and subspecialties. The hospital is associated with the Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science and Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern University, and is a member of Advocate Aurora Health. The hospital provides comprehensive pediatric specialties and subspecialties to infants, children, teens, and young adults aged 0–21 throughout Illinois and the Midwest. The hospital also sometimes treats adults that require pediatric care. Advocate Children's Hospital features the only children's hospital in the greater north and northwest than the suburban region of Chicago. Additionally, The hospital has outpatient centers and doctors offices around Illinois.

Harold L. Richards High School is a co-ed Public high school located in Oak Lawn, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, and is a member of Illinois school District 218. The school opened in 1965, named for District Superintendent Dr. Harold Leland Richards who served in that capacity for 33 years from 1935-1968. Dr. Richards served as a private in the army in WWI, as a Major in the Army Air Corp in WWII, and eventually rose to Lt. Colonel in the Reserves and called back into active duty during the Korean War. After graduating from Pennsylvania Military College in 1920, he taught in Indiana, was superintendent of Michigamme, Michigan schools, and headed the Iowa Military Academy in Epworth, Iowa before coming to District 218. In addition to PMC, he held multiple degrees from the University of Chicago. Dr. Richards died in January 1988 at the age of 88.

Brother Rice High School is a Catholic, all male college preparatory institution in Chicago, Illinois, administered under the Congregation of Christian Brothers. On the same block of land, directly to the east, is the all female Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School, while Saint Xavier University is just to the south of Mother McAuley, and to the southeast of Brother Rice. Its enrollment is mostly drawn from local neighborhoods such as Beverly, Mount Greenwood, West Lawn, Morgan Park, and Ashburn, as well as local suburban municipalities such as Oak Lawn, Evergreen Park, Palos Heights, Orland Park, Tinley Park, Burbank, and Alsip. The Christian Brothers founded the school in 1956. The school's namesake is the founder of their religious order, Blessed Edmund Ignatius Rice. It is affiliated with another high school of the same name in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

Worth Township is one of 29 townships in Cook County, Illinois. As of the 2020 census, its population was 152,934, with its most populous municipalities including Oak Lawn (pop. 58,362), Evergreen Park (19,943), Alsip (pop. 19,063), and Chicago Ridge (pop. 14,433). It was founded in 1849, when the county voted to subdivide itself into townships. The township hall is located at 11601 S. Pulaski Road in Alsip. Other township municipalities include Hometown and Merrionette Park, as well as portions of Blue Island, Crestwood, Worth, Palos Heights, Robbins and Bridgeview. Worth Township's approximate borders are Harlem Avenue (Illinois Route 43) on the west, 87th Street on the north, Western Avenue on the east and 135th Street on the south. The township, however, does not include the parts of the city of Chicago (namely, zip code 60655, which is mostly the Mount Greenwood neighborhood) that lie within these boundaries. Near its southern boundary, the township is crossed by the Cal-Sag Channel.

Burbank is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 29,439 at the 2020 census. It borders the southwest edge of the city of Chicago; the Chicago city limit – specifically that of the Ashburn neighborhood – is in common with Burbank's eastern city limit. Burbank shares a boundary with Oak Lawn to its south, Bridgeview to its west, and Bedford Park to its north; the city of Hometown is also adjacent to Burbank's southeast corner. Burbank is less than two miles south of Chicago Midway International Airport.

Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School is an all-girls Catholic high school located in the Mount Greenwood neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois at 3737 West 99th Street. It is located in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago. Mother McAuley is the largest all-girls high school in the country.

Chicago Ridge Mall, formerly Westfield Chicago Ridge from 2004 to 2012, is a shopping mall in Chicago Ridge, Illinois. The mall includes one anchor store (Kohl's), as well as Aldi, Michaels arts and crafts store, Dick's Sporting Goods, AMC Theatres and a food court. It was built in 1981, and expanded in 1986. In April 2012, Westfield sold the mall to Starwood Capital Group, with JLL responsible for management.

WXAV (88.3 FM) is the college radio station of Saint Xavier University in Chicago. WXAV serves the south and southwest side of Chicago, Illinois and its surrounding suburbs. WXAV has its studios located inside the radio station building. The building is nearby the Mercy Meeting Place.
