Oak Lawn is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 58,362 at the 2020 census. Oak Lawn is a suburb of Chicago, located southwest of the city. It shares borders with the city in two areas but is surrounded mostly by other suburbs.

Worth Township is one of 29 townships in Cook County, Illinois. As of the 2020 census, its population was 152,934, with its most populous municipalities including Oak Lawn (pop. 58,362), Evergreen Park (19,943), Alsip (pop. 19,063), and Chicago Ridge (pop. 14,433). It was founded in 1849, when the county voted to subdivide itself into townships. The township hall is located at 11601 S. Pulaski Road in Alsip. Other township municipalities include Hometown and Merrionette Park, as well as portions of Blue Island, Crestwood, Worth, Palos Heights, Robbins and Bridgeview. Worth Township's approximate borders are Harlem Avenue (Illinois Route 43) on the west, 87th Street on the north, Western Avenue on the east and 135th Street on the south. The township, however, does not include the parts of the city of Chicago (namely, zip code 60655, which is mostly the Mount Greenwood neighborhood) that lie within these boundaries. Near its southern boundary, the township is crossed by the Cal-Sag Channel.

Frank McErlane (1894–1932) was a Prohibition-era Irish-American organized crime figure. He led the Saltis-McErlane Gang, allied with Rusyn American gangster Joseph Saltis and the Johnny Torrio-Al Capone led Chicago Outfit, against rival Irish-American bootleggers, the Southside O'Donnell Gang. He is credited with introducing the Thompson submachine gun to Chicago's underworld. The Illinois Crime Survey called him "the most brutal gunman who ever pulled a trigger in Chicago."

George Edmund Gorman (April 13, 1873 – January 13, 1935) was a U.S. Representative from Illinois.

Restvale Cemetery is in Alsip, Illinois, United States, a suburb southwest of the city of Chicago. A number of Chicago blues musicians, educators, and notable people are buried there. Restvale and Burr Oak were the last two historically black cemeteries to open in the area; both had their first burials in 1927.

As of 2018, Oak Lawn is the 31st busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 1,186 weekday boardings.As of January 16, 2023, Oak Lawn is served by all 30 trains (15 in each direction) on weekdays. Saturday service is currently suspended. Trains operate as far north as Chicago Union Station, and as far south as Orland Park and Manhattan.

Chicago Ridge is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States. Per the 2020 census, the population was 14,433.

Chicago Ridge is a station on Metra's SouthWest Service in Chicago Ridge, Illinois. The station is 16.6 miles (26.7 km) away from Chicago Union Station, the northern terminus of the line. In Metra's zone-based fare system, Chicago Ridge is in zone D. As of 2018, Chicago Ridge is the 127th busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 372 weekday boardings.As of January 16, 2023, Chicago Ridge is served by 28 trains (14 in each direction) on weekdays. Saturday service is currently suspended. The station is located just north of the Village Hall and Police Station on Ridgeland Avenue between Washington Avenue and 105th Street, and west of the B&OCT/IHB Railroad's crossing at grade and the Stony Creek Golf Course. Parking is available not only at the station, but behind the Police Station, along Birmingham Street, Oxford Avenue, and north of the tracks at the corner of Ridgeland Avenue and 103rd Street.

Helen Morgan (née Riggins; August 2, 1900 – October 9, 1941) was an American singer and actress who worked in films and on the stage. A quintessential torch singer, she made a big splash in the Chicago club scene in the 1920s. She starred as Julie LaVerne in the original Broadway production of Hammerstein and Kern's musical Show Boat in 1927, as well as in the 1932 Broadway revival of the musical, and appeared in two film adaptations, a part-talkie made in 1929 (prologue only) and a full-sound version made in 1936, becoming firmly associated with the role. She suffered from bouts of alcoholism, and despite her notable success in the title role of another Hammerstein and Kern's Broadway musical, Sweet Adeline (1929), her stage career was relatively short. Helen Morgan died of cirrhosis of the liver at the age of 41. She was portrayed by Polly Bergen in the Playhouse 90 drama The Helen Morgan Story and by Ann Blyth in the 1957 biopic based on the television drama.
