St Luke's Church, West Norwood

West Norwood railway station is in the London Borough of Lambeth in West Norwood, South London. It is 7 miles 2 chains (11.3 km) measured from London Victoria. The station, and all trains serving it, are operated by Southern, and it lies in Travelcard Zone 3. Services from Platform 1 go to London Victoria and London Bridge via Tulse Hill. Services from Platform 2 operate to more varied destinations, including West Croydon and London Bridge via Crystal Palace. It is located in West Norwood above Norwood High Street, and has its main entrance on the A215 road, which here is called Knights Hill. The station saw some modernisation in summer 2009, with ticket gates installed and the entrance to the eastbound platform refurbished. From spring 2010 the gates have been staffed from first to last train.

The South London Theatre is a community theatre housed in a Grade II listed former fire station, in West Norwood in the London Borough of Lambeth, England. The first play opened in October 1967, and it is now a busy theatrical venue, presenting more than 22 shows annually in its theatre space, which was remodelled during refurbishment of the Old Fire Station during the period 2015–2018. The theatre facilities also consist of two dedicated rehearsal spaces, an entire floor of wardrobe rooms and a private basement bar, open Sunday to Friday evenings to audiences and members and which plays host to regular social events. The adult theatre group welcomes both Full Members (participatory) and Friends of SLT (audience supporters) and stages productions across genres, including Shakespeare, theatrical classics, comedy, pantomime, musicals and modern cutting-edge drama. New writing is particularly encouraged, as are aspiring directors. All involvement at the theatre is on a volunteer basis with support and basic training provided as required. Additionally, there is an active youth group (known as the "SLT Youth Theatre") offering classes for young people aged 7–18yrs, on Saturdays during term time. The youth have their own showcases and are also encouraged to participate in the productions of the adult group. The South London Theatre is a member of the Little Theatre Guild of Great Britain.

West Norwood Cemetery is a 40-acre (16 ha) rural cemetery in West Norwood in London, England. It was also known as the South Metropolitan Cemetery. One of the first private landscaped cemeteries in London, it is one of the "Magnificent Seven" cemeteries of London, and is a site of major historical, architectural and ecological interest. Its grounds are a mixture of historic monumental cemetery and modern lawn cemetery, but it also has catacombs, cremation plots and a columbarium for cinerary ashes. The cemetery's crematorium still operates, and cremation plots are still available, but all the conventional burial plots have been allocated and hence it is closed to new burials pending further agreement under current burial legislation.

Knight's Hill ward is an administrative division of the London Borough of Lambeth, United Kingdom, roughly covering the West Norwood area. The boundaries of Knights Hill are the A214 in the south and the A215 to the east. The population of Knights Hill is 13,687 according to the 2001 census, this is an increase of around 2000. This is 5.1% of the Lambeth borough population. The population is predominantly over 65. The area of the ward is 146.8 hectares. At the 2011 Census the population of the ward had increased to 14,763.According to Lambeth Council, Knight's Hill has high numbers of people with long-term illnesses, as well as the highest number of people over the age of 65. Many pensioners in the area have low amenities. West Norwood railway station is situated in the ward as are Norwood Girls School and St Luke's school. Knight's Hill ward is located in the Dulwich and West Norwood Parliamentary constituency.

Thurlow Park ward is an administrative division of the London Borough of Lambeth, England. It is located in the constituency of Dulwich and West Norwood.It is located towards the South of the borough containing parts of Herne Hill, Tulse Hill (including the Tulse Hill railway station), and West Norwood. It is bordered in the north by Brockwell Park. The population of the ward at the 2011 Census was 13,641.

West Norwood is a largely residential area of south London within the London Borough of Lambeth, located 5.4 miles (8.7 km) south south-east of Charing Cross. The centre of West Norwood sits in a bowl surrounded by hillsides on its east, west and south sides. From many parts of the area, distant views can be seen, of places such as the City of London, Canary Wharf and Crystal Palace. In March 2016 planning permission was granted to build a new 4 screen Picturehouse Cinema and cafe in Nettlefold Hall, which had previously closed in 2011. The new complex opened in November 2018 and additionally re-homes the council library service back to Nettlefold Hall. The West Norwood Feast, a monthly community market running across several areas of West Norwood, has been active since 2011. Featuring music, stalls and community events, the feast has been hugely popular. West Norwood Health and Leisure Centre was opened in 2014. This is located on Devane Way, and offers leisure facilities including a full sized swimming pool, gym, dance studio, community space as well as health resources, both GP and dental. West Norwood includes some or all of three Wards of the London Borough of Lambeth - Gipsy Hill, Knights Hill and Thurlow Park. Each of these wards is represented on Lambeth Council by three councillors.West Norwood has also been home to Greek actress Joanna Byrne.

The South Circular Road (formally the A205 and often simply called the South Circular) in south London, England, is a major road that runs from the Woolwich Ferry in the east to the Chiswick Flyover in the west via Eltham, Lee Green, Catford, Forest Hill, Dulwich, Tulse Hill, Clapham Common, Clapham Junction, Wandsworth, Putney, Barnes, Mortlake and Kew Bridge. Together with the North Circular Road and Woolwich Ferry, it makes a complete ring-road around Central London. The South Circular is largely a sequence of urban streets joined together, requiring several at-grade turns, unlike the mostly purpose-made carriageways of the North Circular. As a result, it is frequently congested. Originally planned as a new-build route across South London, construction of the first section of the South Circular near Eltham began in 1921 to a high-quality specification. The remainder of the road was supposed to be of a similar standard but it was repeatedly delayed, and the current route was allocated in the late 1930s to existing urban streets instead. Despite several proposals to either upgrade the road or replace it with a parallel motorway, there has been little change in the century since the route was first planned and most of the road is still urban streets. The South Circular has received sustained criticism for congestion and pollution and is one of the least popular roads in Britain.

The Norwood School is a co-educational community school at the south end of the London Borough of Lambeth, for girls and boys aged 11–18. The school is a specialist Performing and Visual Arts College. From September 2007, the school admitted boys for the first time as it changed its status from a single sex girls' school to a co-educational community school. Its pupils travel from across the local education authority mainly from Brixton, Streatham and Vauxhall and a small proportion from neighbouring boroughs.

The South London Botanical Institute (SLBI) is an institution for the popularization of botany. It was founded in 1910 by Allan Octavian Hume, a former civil servant for the British Raj in India. After returning from India to England in 1894, and after giving up ornithology, and turning vegetarian, Hume took an interest in British and European botany, and horticulture, which eventually led him to create the Institute in a large Victorian house in Norwood Road, Tulse Hill, South London, to provide an environment where anyone interested in plants, whether amateur or professional, could meet to develop their knowledge of botany. The Institute has changed little since its founding, and is of interest to historians as well as botanists. It contains the original library with an extensive collection of botanical books, monographs and journals and herbarium with a collection of dried, pressed plants from Britain and Europe, mounted on sheets accompanied by collecting details, to help members name or identify plants correctly. The lecture room was renovated and restored in 2015, including some unique wallpaper designed by Augusta Ackerman. There is an active programme of talks, practical courses, and field excursions. It maintains a small botanic garden containing examples of over 500 species.
