L'Abadía Cenero

Salceo is one of thirteen parishes (administrative divisions) in Quirós, a municipality within the province and autonomous community of the Principality of Asturias, in northern Spain. The population is 112 (INE 2011).

San Andrés de los Tacones Reservoir (Spanish: Embalse de San Andrés de los Tacones) is a reservoir in Asturias, Spain across the Aboño River. It is located between the parishes of San Andrés de los Tacones and Serín, in the municipality of Gijón. The reservoir, next to the Autovía A-66, is property of Arcelor and its construction was finished in 1964 with the aim of supply water to the steel plant located in Gijón.In 2002, the City Hall of the municipality decided to open in the reservoir the first bird observatory of the city. The reservoir is supplied by river Aboño.

La Pedrera is a parish of the municipality of Gijón / Xixón, in Asturias, Spain. Its population was 660 in 2003 and 761 in 2012. La pedrera borders the district of Ruedes in the south, Leorio / Llorio in the east and L'Abadía Cenero in the west.

Leorio or Llorio is a parish of the municipality of Gijón, in Asturias, Spain. Its population was 428 in 2012. Leorio / Llorio borders the municipality of Siero in the south, with the district of Samartín de Güerces in the east and with the district of Granda in the north. In this parish is located the Escuela de Fútbol de Mareo, where are the Sporting de Gijón headquarters.

The Escuela de Fútbol de Mareo, officially Escuela de Fútbol Ángel Viejo Feliú, is the training ground and academy base of the Spanish football club Sporting de Gijón. It was officially opened in 1978 and used by the main team and the youth teams of the club. The designer was architect Miguel Díaz Negrete. Covering an area of 112,000 m² in the parish of Leorio, Gijón, it is used since 1978 for youth and senior teams trainings.

The siege of Gijón, one of the first actions in the Spanish Civil War, saw the anarchist militia crushing a small Nationalist garrison in Gijón, between 19 July and 16 August 1936. The militia – nominally fighting in defense of the Republic – laid siege to the Simancas barracks in the city of Gijón. These were defended by about 180 soldiers and Guardia Civil officers who had risen in support of General Franco's rebellion and seized the post for the Nationalists. The battle was remarkable for its viciousness and the stubbornness of the besieged.

Gijón (Spanish: [xiˈxon]) or Xixón (Asturian: [ʃiˈʃoŋ]) is a city and municipality in north-western Spain. It is the largest city and municipality by population in the autonomous community of Asturias. Gijón is the location of the Radiotelevisión del Principado de Asturias, the neighbourhood of Cimavilla, the Universidad Laboral de Gijón, the Revillagigedo Palace, and the adjoining Collegiate Church of San Juan Bautista. Gijón is part of the statistical (not yet developed from an administrative standpoint) comarca of Gijón.

Unión Deportivo Gijón Industrial is a football team based in Gijón in the autonomous community of Asturias. Founded in 1969, it plays in Tercera Federación – Group 2. The club's home ground is Santa Cruz, which has a capacity of 2,500 spectators.

La Camocha is a former coal mine which is seven kilometers south of Gijon, Asturias, Spain. It was operated by Minas la Camocha SA, which is affiliated with González y Díez SA.The former mining railway that once linked the coal mine of La Camocha to Veriña has been replaced by La Camocha Greenway, a trail for hikers and cyclists.The trade union movement Comisiones Obreras (CC.OO.) was born in the La Camocha mine.
