River Ant

Ludham Bridge is a hamlet on the River Ant on the Norfolk Broads in Norfolk, England. It carries road traffic from Wroxham to Potter Heigham on the A1062. The bridge has 2.59m (8' 6") mean headroom for vessels and to the north has 130 metres of free 24 hours public mooring available to river craft. Whilst Ludham Bridge is largely thought to have been built by aliens, there are some who believe it to be man made.

St Benet's Abbey was a medieval monastery of the Order of Saint Benedict, also known as St Benet's at Holme or Hulme. It was situated at Cow Holm, Horning, on the River Bure within the Broads in Norfolk, England. St Benet is a medieval English version of the name of St Benedict of Nursia, hailed as the founder of western monasticism. At the period of the Dissolution of the Monasteries the abbey's possessions were in effect seized by the crown and assigned to the diocese of Norwich. Though the monastery was supposed to continue as a community, within a few years at least the monks had dispersed. Today there remain only ruins.

Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden, Norfolk, England, is a registered charity, comprising 131 acres (0.53 km2) of ancient woodland, woodland garden and water garden and including South Walsham inner Broad. Within the garden is an ancient fishpond (King Stephens fishpond - listed in the Domesday book), a 950-year-old oak, over 95 recorded species of birds, a private broad, many species of wild and cultivated plants the most spectacular being the Candelabra primulas – around 50,000 flower during the last two weeks in May and the first two weeks in June.A network of dykes criss-cross the garden and are all cleared by hand each winter using a traditional tool called a chrome. Other traditional practices used within the garden are coppicing and leaf harvesting to create a natural fertiliser. The garden is one hundred per cent organically managed. The late 1990s saw the return of Otters to the garden and broad.Until the 1980s, the garden was mainly dense wooded areas, but Dutch Elm disease and the 1987 gale saw one thousand fall. The areas that lost a large number of trees (several of them large Oaks) became open glade areas suitable for more cultivated plants that required more sun than the woodland plants. Plants such as Gunnera manicata, hydrangeas, philadelphus, cornus and daffodils were planted to give the garden year round interest.

Ranworth Broad is a 136-hectare (340-acre) nature reserve on the Norfolk Broads north-east of Norwich in Norfolk, United Kingdom. It is managed by the Norfolk Wildlife Trust. it is part of Bure Broads and Marshes Site of Special Scientific Interest and Bure Marshes Nature Conservation Review site, Grade I and National Nature Reverse. It is also part of the Broadland Ramsar site and Special Protection Area, and The Broads Special Area of Conservation.Many species of birds can be seen from the floating Broads Wildlife Centre such as great crested grebes, wigeons, gadwalls, kingfishers and cormorants. There are also areas of woodland and reedbeds.The poet and critic Edward Thomas spent a holiday on a houseboat on Ranworth Broad with his son and a group of friends in the summer of 1913 at the invitation of the poet and writer Eleanor Farjeon, while Thomas's wife Helen was in Switzerland.

Ranworth is a village in Norfolk, England in The Broads, adjacent to Malthouse Broad and Ranworth Broad. It is located in the civil parish of Woodbastwick. The village's name origin is uncertain 'Edge enclosure' or perhaps, 'Randi's enclosure.'

How Hill is a hamlet on the River Ant within The Broads National Park in Ludham parish, Norfolk, England. How Hill House, completed in 1903, was designed by Thomas Boardman, son of the architect Edward Boardman; he was Mayor of Norwich in 1905–1906. Since 1984 the house has been the home of How Hill Trust, an educational charity. The How Hill Nature Reserve is administered by the Broads Authority. Toad Hole Museum is a former marshman's cottage and also houses the Broads Information Centre. Boardman's Windmill is a trestle or skeleton windpump, and Clayrack Drainage Mill is similar, only smaller. Just south of How Hill is Turf Fen windpump.

Upton Fen lies within The Broads National Park in Norfolk, England.It is a nature reserve in the care of Norfolk Wildlife Trust. Notable species found on the reserve include: Eurasian bittern, hobby, Norfolk hawker and Old World swallowtail.

Boardman's Drainage Windmill is located at How Hill in the English county of Norfolk It is on the east bank of the River Ant close to the large Edwardian building houses the Norfolk Broads Study Centre. The Drainage mill is 1+1⁄2 miles (2.4 km) west of the village of Ludham. The structure is a grade II* listed building.

Ludham is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk, in the Norfolk Broads, at the end of a dyke leading to Womack Water and flowing into the River Thurne. It lies 1.5 miles (2.4 km) to the East of Ludham Bridge, which is on the River Ant. It covers an area of 12.18 km2 (4.70 sq mi) and had a population of 1,301 in 582 households at the 2001 census, the population reducing to 1,278 at the 2011 census. For the purposes of local government, it falls within the district of North Norfolk. The villages name origin is unsure possibly, 'Luda's homestead/village' but perhaps, 'homestead/village on the Hlude (= noisy one)', an old name for Womack Water. It is part of the Ludham - Potter Heigham NNR, a national nature reserve. The village gave its name to a Ham-class minesweeper, HMS Ludham and also, in geology, to an age/stage (the Ludhamian) in the British regional subdivision of the Pleistocene Series/Epoch. It also effectively gives its name to the preceding age/underlying stage known as the Pre-Ludhamian.

How Hill House is a large Edwardian house in How Hill, an area of Ludham parish, Norfolk, England. The house overlooks the River Ant and is within the Broads National Park. The house was designed in the vernacular revival style by the English architect Edward Thomas Boardman in 1903 who intended it to be his family's country retreat. The Boardman family owned the house until 1966 before its sale to Norfolk County Council. Years later it was sold to Norwich Union who eventually gifted the house to the How Hill Trust, an environmental education charity. The house is a Grade II listed building.

Clayrack Drainage Windmill is located at How Hill in the English county of Norfolk. It is on the east bank of the River Ant close to How Hill, a large Edwardian building which houses the Norfolk Broads Study Centre. The Drainage mill is 1¾ miles west of the village of Ludham.
