Bar Beach is a beach on the Atlantic Ocean along the shoreline of Lagos, situated on Victoria Island. For a time, it was the most popular beach in Nigeria especially when Lagos was the capital of the country.

Kuramo Beach is a sandy beach in Lagos, Nigeria, located at the south side of Victoria Island, just east of Bar Beach and south of the Kuramo Waters lagoon. It was the location of numerous illegal shanties and cabins, some of them being used for music entertainment, bars and prostitution. In August 2012, a surge of the Atlantic Ocean hit Kuramo Beach, destroying some of these shacks and killing 16 people. The next day government authorities evacuated the area, demolished the remaining shacks and began to refill the sand.The ocean surge is said to occur every August at the beach, though in former years no lives were lost.

The Civic Tower, also called Civic Center Towers, Civic Towers, is a 17 floor office building in Lagos. It is located a short distance from the Civic Centre on Ozumba Mbadiwe Avenue, Victoria Island, Lagos. On the night of 20 October 2020, at about 6:50 p.m., members of the Nigerian Army opened fire on unarmed End SARS protesters at the Lekki toll gate in Lagos State, Nigeria. Amnesty International stated that at least 12 protesters were killed during the shooting. A day after the incident, on 21 October, the governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-olu, initially denied reports of any loss of lives, but later admitted in an interview with a CNN journalist that "only two persons were killed".The Nigerian Army initially denied involvement in the shooting, but later stated that it had deployed soldiers to the toll gate on the orders of the governor of Lagos State. A month after the shooting, following a CNN documentary on the shooting, the Nigerian Army admitted to the Lagos Judiciary panel of inquiry into the shooting that it had deployed its personnel to the toll gate with both live and blank bullets.

British International School Lagos (BIS) is a British international school in Oniru Private Estate in Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria. Opening in 2001, the school provides a British curriculum to day and boarding students aged 11–18. A broad range of IGCSE and A Level courses are available for study. The pupil body comprises girls and boys from Nigerian and expatriate families. Classes are small and there is a comprehensive co-curricular programme available after school each day. The campus is a large one, with the teaching buildings surrounded by playing fields, within which can be found a swimming pool along with tennis and basketball courts.
