HM Prison Feltham

Radio Feltham was the first prison radio station in Europe, operating in HM Prison Feltham, a male juvenile prison and Young Offenders Institution in west London that housed up to 800 boys between the ages of 15 and 21. It launched in 1994 thanks to the work of advertising executive Mark Robinson, who developed the idea of a radio station to support young prisoners when they were at their most vulnerable, alone in their prison cells at night. Radio Feltham eventually led to the founding of the award-winning charity the Prison Radio Association, and the development of the world's first national radio station for prisoners, National Prison Radio.

Bedfont is a suburb in the London Borough of Hounslow, approximately 15 miles (24 km) west of Charing Cross. Originally a distinct village, Bedfont has a large central conservation area around Bedfont Green. The majority of the housing was built at a time of an emerging economy of aviation and distribution-related businesses. The area was formerly part of the Staines Rural District and was one of the formerly agricultural areas chosen for significant low-rise social housing, planned and built in the mid 20th century. Bedfont straddles Staines Road (A315) and traditionally includes North Feltham north of Staines Road – a mainly commercial area – and the neighbourhood of Hatton. The heart of the area has many parks and the south-eastern streets and Cage Park are contiguous with the larger district of Feltham. East is the River Crane around which are a few remaining parts of Hounslow Heath. The nearest railway station is at Feltham and the area adjoins the Hatton Cross Underground station on the Piccadilly line. Heathrow Airport is 2 miles (3 km) to the north.

Bedfont Lakes Country Park is a 72.5-hectare Local Nature Reserve and Site of Metropolitan Importance for Nature Conservation in Bedfont in the London Borough of Hounslow.The land had been Fawn's Manor Farm, and was owned by the Duke of St Albans until it was purchased by William Sherborn in 1780. Until the 1920s it supplied London with produce, and gravel extraction took place from the 1860s. From the 1950s until 1973 it was used as a landfill site for domestic and industrial waste, and polluted lakes remained after it was closed. In 1988 The Rutland Group acquired Bedfont Lakes and, working with Hounslow Council, secured the development of the area as a country park as a planning condition for development of the surrounding area.Rutland managed the park for three years before donating it to the people of South West London, together with an endowment fund to maintain the parklands in perpetuity. In 2000 Bedfont Lakes received nature reserve status, winning multiple awards nationally and regionally including the Millennium Marque and the London in Bloom Wildflower and Environment Trophy. The site has lakes, wetlands, wildflower meadows and woodland. There are over 350 species of plants, including field scabious, lady's bedstraw and black poplar. There are also 156 species of birds, 124 of moths, 97 of fungi and 20 mammals.There are car parks in Bedfont Road and Clockhouse Lane.

Historically part of the county of Middlesex, in 1965 Sunbury and other surrounding towns were initially intended to form part of the newly created county of Greater London but were instead transferred to Surrey. Sunbury adjoins Feltham to the north, Hampton to the east, Ashford to the northwest and Shepperton to the southwest. Walton-on-Thames is to the south, on the opposite bank of the Thames. The town has two main focal points: Lower Sunbury (known locally as Sunbury Village) is the older part, adjoining the river. Sunbury Common (known locally as Sunbury Cross) is to the north and surrounds the railway station and the London end of the M3 motorway. Lower Sunbury contains most of the town's parks, pubs and listed buildings, whereas Sunbury Common is more urban and includes offices and hotels. Lower Sunbury holds an annual fair and regatta each August. Sunbury railway station is on the Shepperton branch line. Trains to and from London Waterloo are operated by South Western Railway.
