Market Street Chinatown (Chinese: 孖結街唐人埠) or Plaza Chinatown refers to two successive Chinatowns in San Jose, California, during the 19th century. Both were destroyed by arson with the tacit support of officials. The site was rediscovered during a 1980s redevelopment project, shedding light on an era when San Jose led the state of California in anti-Chinese violence.

When completed in 1988, it was the tallest building in the city; it is currently the sixth. The building was designed by the Skidmore, Owings & Merrill architecture firm.

Christmas in the Park is a winter event that takes place each year in downtown San Jose, California, roughly from the last week of November to January 1. During this time, more than five hundred Christmas trees decorated by local schools and other groups are displayed in Plaza de César Chávez Park, usually with more than 50 Christmas-related musical and animated exhibits, a 55-foot high Community Giving Tree, and many souvenir and treats shops.The event is attended by more than 700,000 visitors each year, and has been taking place in Plaza de César Chávez for more than 30 years. It is described as "San Jose's biggest production." The event brings an estimated $13 million in visitor spending to the city. It is free to the public, although donations to help offset its costs are suggested.Next to the park there is an ice rink and about a dozen rides for children during this time, which include a Ferris wheel, merry-go-round and train ride. In 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Christmas in the Park pivoted to a drive-through event at San Jose's History Park, from November 27, 2020 - January 3, 2021, open from 4-10 PM, with advance tickets required. Over 160,000 new lights in the form of lighted tunnels, snowflake arches, pixel light forests and other displays have been added to the traditional displays and decorated trees.

Tower 55 (formerly the Market Post Tower; also known as the Gold Building or simply 55 South Market) is a 15-story building at the corner of South Market Street and Post Street in downtown San Jose, California. Built in 1985 as the Market Post Tower, it was designed to provide a mix of office and retail space. When first built, the building was controversial due to its gold-colored glass exterior, which produced high light and heat reflection. In its early years, the owners struggled financially with the property and were forced to put it up for sale in 1987. While the intended tenants did not materialize, the building proved popular with telecom carriers as an Internet exchange center, with MAE-West on the 13th floor, one of the oldest and most well known Internet exchanges. Many carriers maintain collocation space in the building to support their interconnections through MAE-West (so-called "public peering") as well as direct interconnections ("private peering"). Tower 55 remains mixed-use, comprising office, telecom, and retail space, but it is perhaps most well known for its use by internet network service, peering, and colocation providers. The building was purchased in 2000 by The Carlyle Group, which further enhanced the building's network infrastructure, and now advertises it as a "multi-tenant carrier neutral telecom facility." CoreSite, a Denver-based wholesale provider of data centers, colocation and peering, currently handles tenant leases within the building.San Jose's first public nude sculpture was located at the Market Post Building, but this was removed during building renovations in 2012. The federal Internal Revenue Service (IRS) occupies one entire floor of the building as a regional office.In 2013, Market Post Tower was renovated and renamed Tower 55.

The Signia by Hilton San Jose is a AAA Four-Diamond 805-room high-rise hotel at 170 South Market Street in San Jose, California, located on the Plaza de César Chávez in Downtown San Jose. Opened in 1987 as the Fairmont San Jose, the hotel closed on March 5, 2021, and filed for a Chapter 11 reorganization. It will reopen as a Hilton property on April 7, 2022.

It is bounded by numerous San Jose institutions and landmarks, including The Tech Museum of Innovation, the San Jose Museum of Art, City National Civic, and Circle of Palms Plaza. The plaza hosts numerous notable events, including the San Jose Jazz Festival, Music in the Park and Christmas in the Park.
