Downtown San Jose is the central business district of San Jose, California. Downtown is one of the largest tech clusters in Silicon Valley, as well as the cultural and political center of San Jose.

The Rock 'n' Roll San Jose Half Marathon is an annual half marathon race which takes place in San Jose, California in the United States. It is part of the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series of road running competitions organized by the IRONMAN Group, part of Wanda Sports Holdings.

Christmas in the Park is a winter event that takes place each year in downtown San Jose, California, roughly from the last week of November to January 1. During this time, more than five hundred Christmas trees decorated by local schools and other groups are displayed in Plaza de César Chávez Park, usually with more than 50 Christmas-related musical and animated exhibits, a 55-foot high Community Giving Tree, and many souvenir and treats shops.The event is attended by more than 700,000 visitors each year, and has been taking place in Plaza de César Chávez for more than 30 years. It is described as "San Jose's biggest production." The event brings an estimated $13 million in visitor spending to the city. It is free to the public, although donations to help offset its costs are suggested.Next to the park there is an ice rink and about a dozen rides for children during this time, which include a Ferris wheel, merry-go-round and train ride. In 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Christmas in the Park pivoted to a drive-through event at San Jose's History Park, from November 27, 2020 - January 3, 2021, open from 4-10 PM, with advance tickets required. Over 160,000 new lights in the form of lighted tunnels, snowflake arches, pixel light forests and other displays have been added to the traditional displays and decorated trees.

The Tech Interactive (formerly The Tech Museum of Innovation, commonly known as The Tech) is a science and technology center that offers hands-on activities, labs, design challenges and other STEAM education resources. It is located in downtown San Jose, California, adjacent to the Plaza de César Chávez.

The San Jose Civic (formerly known as the San Jose Civic Auditorium and City National Civic) is a former arena, currently operating as a theatre, located in downtown San Jose, California. The venue is owned by the City of San Jose, is managed by Team San Jose and is booked by Nederlander Concerts. The auditorium seats 3,036 which can be expanded up to 3,326 in a general admission setting.

Market Street Chinatown (Chinese: 孖結街唐人埠) or Plaza Chinatown refers to two successive Chinatowns in San Jose, California, during the 19th century. Both were destroyed by arson with the tacit support of officials. The site was rediscovered during a 1980s redevelopment project, shedding light on an era when San Jose led the state of California in anti-Chinese violence.

The Signia by Hilton San Jose is a AAA Four-Diamond 805-room high-rise hotel at 170 South Market Street in San Jose, California, located on the Plaza de César Chávez in Downtown San Jose. Opened in 1987 as the Fairmont San Jose, the hotel closed on March 5, 2021, and filed for a Chapter 11 reorganization. It will reopen as a Hilton property on April 7, 2022.

The Circle of Palms Plaza is located in downtown San Jose, California. It is composed of a ring of palm trees encircling a California State Seal, and designates the California Historical Marker 461, the site of California's first state capital from 1849-1851.

The San José Museum of Art (SJMA) is a modern and contemporary art museum in downtown San Jose, California, United States. Founded in 1969, the museum holds a permanent collection with an emphasis on West Coast artists of the 20th and 21st centuries. It is located at Circle of Palms Plaza, beside Plaza de César Chávez. A member of North American Reciprocal Museums, SJMA has received several awards from the American Alliance of Museums.

Fairmont Plaza (previously the Knight-Ridder Building) is a 17-story, 79.55 m (261.0 ft) skyscraper in downtown San Jose, California. When completed in 1988, it was the tallest building in the city; it is currently the sixth. The building was designed by the Skidmore, Owings & Merrill architecture firm.

Convention Center is an at-grade light rail station on the Blue Line and the Green Line of the VTA light rail system. The station platform is located in the median of West San Carlos Street, between Almaden Boulevard and Market Street. The station is located across from the San Jose Convention Center, after which the station is named. Convention Center was renovated in 2006 to be made fully wheelchair accessible.

The Cathedral Basilica of St. Joseph (Spanish: Catedral Basílica de San José) is a large Roman Catholic church in Downtown San Jose, which serves as the cathedral for the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Jose in California, with the distinction of minor basilica. The basilica is named for Saint Joseph, patron saint of the Catholic Church and namesake of San Jose, California.
