Marc Garneau Collegiate Institute (Marc Garneau CI, MGCI or Garneau), formerly known as Overlea Secondary School, is a high school in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and part of the Toronto District School Board. Before 1998, this school was part of the East York Board of Education. It is the host school of the Talented Offerings for Programs in the Sciences (TOPS) program, a selective math, science and English enrichment program.

The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Canada, formerly known as the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Toronto (Canada), is an archdiocese of the Eastern Orthodox Church based in Canada. It is under the jurisdiction of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople. The present Archbishop and Exarch of All Canada is Sotirios Athanassoulas. Its jurisdiction covers members of the Greek Orthodox community living in Canada. Archbishop Sotirios was born in Arta, Epirus in Greece. The headquarters of the archdiocese is in the East York district of Toronto.

The Leaside Towers are the tallest buildings in the East York district of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. They are a twin set of Brutalist-style apartment towers, with one facing north-south, and another facing east-west. Located at 85 and 95 Thorncliffe Park Drive near Overlea, it is the tallest building in East York prior to amalgamation. With a structural height of 129 m (423 ft) and both towers having 43 floors, it was once the tallest apartment towers in the Commonwealth and in Canada. Construction concluded in 1970. Located along the perimeter of E.T. Seton Park, they provide panoramic views of Toronto's skyline, Don Valley and Don River.

The church not only tends to the spiritual needs of Toronto's Macedonian community, but it serves as the home to several prominent educational, cultural, and charitable organizations that actively preserve and promote Macedonian ethnic and cultural awareness. Flemingdon Park is a middle-class district and community in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, located in the city's North York district. It is part of the Don Valley East federal and provincial electoral districts, and Ward 26: Don Valley East (South) municipally. In 2011, its population was 22,205. The average income was $66,784.It is bordered on the north by Eglinton Avenue East, on the west by the Don River (west branch), and on the east and south by the Don River (east branch). The two branches of the river join at the neighbourhood’s southwest corner. The south border is a parkland access road that used to be known as Old Lawrence Avenue. Flemingdon Park is separated from neighbouring communities by river valleys on three sides, and a light industrial area, now mostly used as corporate offices, next to several railway lines on the north side. The community is named after its original owner, Robert John Fleming, the Mayor of Toronto in 1892–1893 and 1896–1897, and the nearby Don River.

East York Collegiate Institute (East York CI, EYCI, or East York), formerly East York High School is a Toronto high-school located in the former borough of East York at the corner of Coxwell and Cosburn Avenues. It was part of the East York Board of Education until 1998 when the board became part of the Toronto District School Board. Its motto is "Honos Per Ministrium" (Honour through Service).

The East York Civic Centre was the municipal office of the former borough of East York, now part of Toronto, Ontario, Canada as the result of municipal amalgamation. The two-storey civic buildings, located on the western side of Coxwell Avenue, were completed in 1990. Prior to 1990 it was the site of the East York Municipal Offices built in 1948, additions added in 1963 and 1975. The Township of East York Municipal Building was located nearby at 443 Sammon Avenue (replaced by St. Aloysius Catholic Elementary School 1962-2002 now as École élémentaire La Mosaïque).Since 1998, the building's former council chambers have not been used for any municipal-council function. The East York Community Council became the Downtown Community Council (later renamed Toronto East York Community Council) and sits at Toronto City Hall. From 2002 to 2005, the council chambers were used to hold public hearings in the Toronto Computer Leasing Inquiry. The former chambers is rectangular room with a semi-circular desk seating 11 members and small second floor visitor's gallery, named the True Davidson Chambers after former mayor True Davidson. The building is used for offices for various committees and city departments including services for residents of East York. A farmer's market takes place at the Civic Centre from May to November. A cenotaph is located on the Civic Centre's Memorial Gardens, a simple park surrounding the building.

East York is a former administrative district and municipality within Toronto, Ontario, Canada. From 1967 to 1998, it was officially the Borough of East York, a semi-autonomous borough within the upper-tier municipality of Metropolitan Toronto. The borough was dissolved in 1998 when it was amalgamated with the other lower-tier municipalities of Metropolitan Toronto to form the new "megacity" of Toronto. Prior to its amalgamation, East York was Canada's last remaining borough. It is separated by the Don River from the former City of Toronto. Traditional East York is southeast of the river, and the neighbourhoods of Leaside, Bennington Heights and densely populated Thorncliffe Park are northwest of the river. The heart of East York is filled with middle-class and working-class homes.
