Hegra, Norway

Hegra is a former municipality in the old Nord-Trøndelag county, Norway. The 612-square-kilometre (236 sq mi) municipality existed from 1874 until its dissolution in 1962. The municipality was located in the Stjørdalen valley. It encompassed the eastern two-thirds of the what is now Stjørdal Municipality in Trøndelag county. The administrative centre was the village of Hegra where the Hegra Church is located. Prior to its dissolution in 1962, the 612.4-square-kilometre (236.4 sq mi) municipality was the 159th largest by area out of the 731 municipalities in Norway. Hegra Municipality was the 337th most populous municipality in Norway with a population of about 2,762. The municipality's population density was 4.5 inhabitants per square kilometre (12/sq mi) and its population had decreased by 1.5% over the previous 10-year period.

Hegra Church (Norwegian: Hegra kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Stjørdal Municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the village of Hegra. It is one of the churches for the Hegra parish which is part of the Stjørdal prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nidaros. The white, wooden church was built in a cruciform style in 1783 using plans drawn up by the architects Erich Must and J. Støren. The church seats about 400 people.

Hegra Station (Norwegian: Hegra stasjon) is a railway station on the Meråker Line in the village of Hegra in the Stjørdal Municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The station was opened on 17 October 1881 as Hegre. It received the current name on 1 June 1919, and has been unstaffed since 1 March 1971. It is served twice a day in each direction by SJ Norge. The station is located about 42 kilometres (26 mi) from Trondheim and it sits at an elevation of 18.2 metres (60 ft) above sea level.

It is located in the central part of the municipality, about 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) northeast of the town of Stjørdalshalsen, about 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) north of the village of Hegra, and about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) east of the mountain Forbordsfjellet. The village is the location of Okkelberg Chapel.

The white, wooden church was built in a long church style in 1905 using plans drawn up by the architect Ole Andresen. The church seats about 200 people.

The village is the location of Værnes Church. The 0.2-square-kilometre (49-acre) village has a population (2024) of 391 and a population density of 1,955 inhabitants per square kilometre (5,060/sq mi).

It is located just south of the town of Stjørdalshalsen, along the Stjørdalselva river, and just east of the Trondheim Airport, Værnes. It is the church for the Stjørdal parish which is also the seat of the Stjørdal prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nidaros. The white, stone church was built in a long church style in five stages from 1130 until 1190 by using plans drawn up by unknown architect. The church seats about 370 people.

It is located in the western part of the municipality, about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) southeast of the town of Stjørdalshalsen and just northeast of the Stjørdalselva river delta. It is one of the churches for the Stjørdal parish which is part of the Stjørdal prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nidaros. The modern, stone church was built in a rectangular design in 2015 using plans drawn up by the architect Kai Rune Bakke. The church seats about 240 people.
