Gabriel Park

The 40-Mile Loop is a partially completed greenway trail around and through Portland in the U.S. state of Oregon. It was proposed in 1903 by the Olmsted Brothers architecture firm as part of the development of Forest Park. One greenway expert calls it "one of the most creative and resourceful greenway projects in the country."The name's "forty" was obsolete within a few decades after it was proposed. The proposed total path is now about 140 miles (230 km) long, and connects more than thirty city parks. Similarly, "loop" is not entirely accurate. There are several subloops, cutoffs and spur trails within the system. One spur is proposed to connect to the Pacific Crest Trail.

Hayhurst is a neighborhood in the southwest section of Portland, Oregon, on the border with (and in some areas slightly extending into) Washington County. It borders Raleigh Hills and Beaverton (on the west), and the Portland neighborhoods of Bridlemile (on the north), Hillsdale (on the east), and Maplewood and Multnomah (on the south). The community of Vermont Hills lies within the neighborhood (45°28′39″N 122°43′37″W). In the western part of the neighborhood is Alpenrose Dairy (1916), a community institution featuring a velodrome, baseball park, and replica Western frontier town ("Dairyville"). Pendleton Park (1955) is a green space with a playground, a baseball diamond, the Vermont Hills Community Garden, and an 8-foot rabbit entitled Vincent, Waiting for Alice. It is adjacent to Hayhurst Elementary School.

Multnomah is a neighborhood in the southwest section of Portland, Oregon, centered on the Multnomah Village business district. The community developed in the 1910s around a depot of the Oregon Electric Railway of the same name. It was annexed by the city of Portland on November 7, 1950.Multnomah is bordered by SW 45th Ave. on the west, SW Capitol Hill Road on the east, SW Vermont St. on the north, and I-5 in the south. Exceptions are the area north of SW Nevada Ct. and east of SW 26th Ave. (part of Hillsdale), an area south of SW Multnomah Blvd. and north of SW Dolph St. where SW 48th Ave. is the western border, and an area south of SW Marigold St. where SW Capitol Highway is the western border. The neighborhood is bordered by Maplewood, Ashcreek, and Crestwood on the west, Hayhurst and Hillsdale to the north, and South Burlingame, Markham, and West Portland Park to the south and east. A bit of Portland history played out in the Village on April 7, 1987, when Mayor Bud Clark fired Police Chief Jim Davis while the two were having a breakfast meeting at the Fat City Cafe.The neighborhood celebrates "Multnomah Days" with a parade and street festival on the third Saturday of August.

Founded in 1961 from the mergers of three older congregations, it has a membership of over 800 households. The early members of the synagogue were immigrants from Prussia or Poland. Resulting in the nickname "Polisha shul." Despite the synagogue's nickname, it leaned for towards the German styles of Judaism, rather than the Polish one. Neveh Shalom is the second oldest Jewish congregation in the Pacific Northwest and the oldest Conservative congregation on the West Coast.
