Tribeca (), originally written as TriBeCa, is a neighborhood in Lower Manhattan in New York City. Its name is a syllabic abbreviation of "Triangle Below Canal Street". The "triangle" (more accurately a quadrilateral) is bounded by Canal Street, West Street, Broadway, and Chambers Street. By the 2010s, a common marketing tactic was being used to extend Tribeca's southern boundary to either Vesey or Murray streets to increase the appeal of property listings.The neighborhood began as farmland, then was a residential neighborhood in the early 19th century, before becoming a mercantile area centered on produce, dry goods, and textiles, and then transitioning to artists and then actors, models, entrepreneurs and other celebrities. The neighborhood is home to the Tribeca Film Festival, which was created in response to the September 11 attacks, to reinvigorate the neighborhood and downtown after the destruction caused by the terrorist attacks.Tribeca is part of Manhattan Community District 1, and its primary ZIP Codes are 10007 and 10013. It is patrolled by the 1st Precinct of the New York City Police Department.

The restaurant was founded by Lynn Wagenknecht, Keith McNally, and Brian McNally. Wagenknecht continues to run the restaurant. Wagenknecht has characterized the restaurant as a brasserie.

175 West Broadway is a building between Worth and Leonard Streets in the Tribeca neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. Built in 1877, it was designed by Scott & Umbach, an architectural firm from Newark, New Jersey, in the polychromatic brick style. According to the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission, the building's "corbeled window arches and the corbeled brick cornice are without parallel in New York City architecture." It was built as a rental property for the heirs of Jerome B. King, a notable manufacturer of plaster and cement products, and was occupied for many years by Harwood & Son, who manufactured and sold awnings and other products made from canvas The building was designated a New York City landmark on November 12, 1991.

Duane Park is a small, triangular public urban park located in the diamond of the Tribeca neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. The park is bordered by Hudson Street to the east and branches of Duane Street on north and south sides. It was originally laid out by Calvert Vaux.The park is supported by a non-profit group, The Friends of Duane Park, whose website contains a brief history of the park and its neighborhood.The city of New York purchased Duane Park in 1795 from Trinity Church for five dollars. The park is surrounded by beautiful, turn of the century, architecturally ornate loft buildings which were constructed during the 19th century. Duane Street, which borders the park, is named for James Duane, an important parishioner at Trinity Church.

Watluck won a James Beard Best Chef award. The restaurant won the Best Restaurant in America James Beard Award in 2004 and four star reviews from The New York Times in 1987 and 1993.The Watlucks wanted to offer a three star Michelin experience “in an informal contemporary American setting.” Gael Greene published “rave reviews” less than a month after the restaurant opened which was the first of many such reviews. The reviews by the Times were written by Ruth Reichl and Bryan Miller.

177 Franklin Street is a historic six-story commercial building located on Franklin Street between Hudson and Greenwich streets in the TriBeCa neighborhood of Manhattan in New York City. Originally built in 1888, 177 Franklin Street was owned by real estate investor William Grupe and designed by architect Frederick Jenth, with construction starting in 1887. The structure was originally designed as a five-story building; a sixth story was added in 1890 by architect Robert Callack.The building has a neo-Grec façade composed of a one-story base and a five-story upper section. Some surviving historic features include a pressed metal cornice, prominent brick-and-stone lintels, a brick corbel table, wood sash windows, and cast-iron piers from the Lindsay, Graff & Megquier foundry, as indicated on two clear foundry marks. The building was renovated by Michael Kirchmann of GDSNY and is the headquarters and flagship location for lifestyle retailer Shinola.

The Franklin Street station is a local station on the IRT Broadway–Seventh Avenue Line of the New York City Subway, located at the intersection of Franklin Street, Varick Street, and West Broadway. It is served by the 1 train at all times and by the 2 train during late nights. The station was built by the Interborough Rapid Transit Company (IRT) as part of the Dual Contracts with New York City, and opened on July 1, 1918. The station had its platforms extended in the 1960s, and was renovated in the early 1990s.
