595 Market Street

The Consulate General of Sweden, San Francisco is the diplomatic mission of Sweden in San Francisco, California. It is located at 595 Market Street in the Financial District. The consulate general has its origins in the Swedish consulate that was opened in 1850, which was transformed into a consulate general in 1943. The primary responsibilities of the consulate general were to disseminate information about Sweden and Swedish collaboration opportunities, promote business activities through the organization of various events, handle consular matters (mainly passport and visa processing), and provide assistance to Swedish citizens in the western United States. The consulate general's jurisdiction included, in addition to the city of San Francisco, the states of California, Alaska, Arizona, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and later New Mexico until 1980 when Sweden's Consulate General in Los Angeles opened, taking over responsibility for certain states. In 1982, the consulate general in San Francisco was downgraded to a consulate, and the following year, it was completely closed. From 1983, a Swedish honorary consulate general operated in San Francisco, with an unpaid honorary consul general as the head. In 2024, Sweden reopened a consulate general in San Francisco.

Market Center, formerly known as the Standard Oil Buildings and later the Chevron Towers, is a complex comprising two skyscrapers at 555–575 Market Street in the Financial District of downtown San Francisco, California. It served as the headquarters of the Chevron Corporation until 2001. As of 2021, it is owned by Paramount Group, Inc.575 Market Street is a 40-story, 175 m (574 ft) building completed in 1975, the taller of the two towers. 555 Market Street is the shorter tower at 95 m (312 ft) with 22 stories, and was completed in 1964. Architect for both buildings was Hertzka & Knowles. The two buildings are situated on a large mid-block property with a central, landscaped plaza. Both buildings are terra cotta over a granite base.

The KPMG Building is a 25-story, 100 m (330 ft) Class A office building located at 55 Second Street in the Financial District of San Francisco, California, designed by Heller Manus, and completed in 2002.

The Flatiron Building is a highrise completed in 1913 at 540 Market Street at Sutter Street in the Financial District of San Francisco, California. The 10-story, 120-foot (37 m) structure is designated landmark No. 155.Jimdo has offices in the building, as does TextNow, and Trim. Previously, Boutique Air had its headquarters there.The building was featured in the opening credits of the 1980s detective series Crazy Like a Fox since lead character Harry Fox had his offices in the building.

The Hobart Building is an office high rise located at 582–592 Market Street, near Montgomery and 2nd Streets, in the financial district of San Francisco, California. It was completed in 1914 after only eleven months, which led to accusations that it had been constructed with a degree of recklessness. It was at the time the second tallest building in the city, at 21 floors and 87 m (285 ft). It was designed by Willis Polk. The building was constructed for the Hobart Estate Company on the site of the company's previous offices. The location was reportedly chosen by founder Walter S. Hobart in the 1880s for its prominent location at the head of 2nd Street, originally one of the city's major streets leading to the fashionable Rincon Hill neighborhood. Said to be the favorite commercial building of its designer, Willis Polk, its sculpted terra cotta exterior with Baroque ornamentation and handcrafted brass and Italian marble interior are a noted example of neoclassical architecture.Its unusual shape was dictated by the site, which is an asymmetric polygon, and since a neighboring structure was torn down in 1967, exposing one flank, it is now even more idiosyncratic and striking. The Hobart Building was designated as a landmark by the City of San Francisco in 1983, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2021.

BlueStar (formerly "BlueStar PR"), "The Jewish Ink Tank", is a San Francisco-based nonprofit organization which produces "visual media that strengthens existing efforts to gain popular support and interest for Israel and Judaism." Blue Star creates and distributes pro-Israel posters, rally signs, postcards, and brochures. They also put up transit shelter ads and billboards. They also host Write On For Israel/San Francisco, a one-year program to training future Israel leaders and advocates. The program is available for high school students, college students, and adults.

The Admission Day Monument is an 1897 sculpture by Douglas Tilden, located at the intersection of Market Street and Montgomery Street in San Francisco, California, United States. It commemorates California Admission Day (September 9, 1850), the date on which the state became part of the Union, following the Mexican-American war of 1848.Other names for the sculpture include Admission Day, the Admission Day Fountain, the California Admissions Day Monument, Native Son Monument, Native Sons' Monument, Native Sons Monument, and Phelan Fountain.

44 Montgomery is a 43-story, 172 m (564 ft) office skyscraper in the heart of San Francisco's Financial District. Groundbreaking was in the spring of 1964. When completed in 1967, it was the tallest building west of Dallas, surpassed by 555 California Street (built as the world headquarters of Bank of America) in 1969. The building was designed, built and dedicated for Wells Fargo Bank, and their IT subsidiary was based there at one time (the bank's headquarters are at 464 California Street).44 Montgomery, as part of the original design anticipating the then-under-construction Bay Area Rapid Transit subway system, contains direct underground access to the Montgomery Street Station.

Montgomery Street station (often Montgomery station) is a combined BART and Muni Metro rapid transit station in the Market Street subway. Located under Market Street between Montgomery Street and Sansome Street, it serves the Financial District neighborhood and surrounding areas. The three-level station has a large fare mezzanine level, with separate platform levels for Muni Metro and BART below. With over 42,000 boardings per weekday in 2019, Montgomery Street and Embarcadero station to the north are the two busiest stations in the BART system.

One Sansome Street, also known as Citigroup Center, is an office skyscraper located at the intersection of Sutter and Sansome Streets in the Financial District of San Francisco, California near Market Street. The 168 m (551 ft), 41 floor, 587,473 sq ft (54,578.0 m2) office tower was completed in 1984.

The Academy of Art University (AAU or ART U), formerly Academy of Art College and Richard Stephens Academy of Art, is a private for-profit art school in San Francisco, California. It was founded as the Academy of Advertising Art by Richard S. Stephens in 1929. In fall 2020, it had 202 full-time teachers, 621 part-time teaching staff, and 8,928 students; it claims to be the largest privately owned art and design school in the United States. The school is one of the largest property owners in San Francisco, with the main campus located on New Montgomery Street in the South of Market district.

The JPMorgan Chase Building is an office building in San Francisco, California, 560-584 Mission Street, on the border between South of Market and the Financial District. Designed by architect César Pelli, the building stands 128.02 m (420.0 ft) and has about 655,000 square feet (60,900 m2) of office space. It also has two levels of underground parking and a large plaza. About 400,000 sq ft (37,000 m2) of the building is leased to the major tenant JPMorgan Chase. This is one of many new highrise projects completed or under construction on Mission Street since 2000.
