Holtsee

Altenhof (Low German: Oldenhave, Danish: Celmerstorp) is a municipality in the district of Rendsburg-Eckernförde, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.

Haby is a municipality in the district of Rendsburg-Eckernförde, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. At the southwestern end of the village of Haby the meadows are filled with fog some nights. This is where there was, until the middle of the 20th century, a big lake which was linked to the Wittensee. For a thousand years it was used by people living in this area as a fishing ground till the growing agricultural industry caused the lake to vanish. Haby was mentioned in records first 800 years ago. The ending "by" indicates Viking origins. Haby is the most southern location in Germany with the "by" ending. There is another village with an almost identical name in southern Sweden.

Sehestedt (Danish: Sehested) is a municipality in the district of Rendsburg-Eckernförde, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. Sehestedt is south of the municipality of Groß Wittensee, Haby or Holtsee, but north of Bovenau, and west of Lindau. It is divided into two parts by the Kiel Canal, which has to be crossed by a ferry.

Goosefeld (Danish: Gosefeld or Gosby) is a municipality in the district of Rendsburg-Eckernförde, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. Goosefeld is south of the municipality of Windeby, but north of Groß Wittensee, Haby and Holtsee.

Windeby I is the name given to the bog body found preserved in a peat bog near Windeby, Northern Germany, in 1952. Until recently, the body was also called the Windeby Girl, since an archeologist believed it to be the body of a 14-year-old girl, because of its slight build. Prof. Heather Gill-Robinson, a Canadian anthropologist and pathologist, used DNA testing to show the body was actually that of a sixteen-year-old boy. The body has been radiocarbon-dated to between 41 BC and 118 AD.

The Eider Canal (also called the Schleswig-Holstein Canal) was an artificial waterway in southern Denmark (later northern Germany) which connected the North Sea with the Baltic Sea by way of the rivers Eider and Levensau. Constructed between 1777 and 1784, the Eider Canal was built to create a path for ships entering and exiting the Baltic that was shorter and less storm-prone than navigating around the Jutland peninsula. In the 1880s the canal was replaced by the enlarged Kiel Canal, which includes some of the Eider Canal's watercourse.

Lindau is a municipality in the district of Rendsburg-Eckernförde, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.

German submarine U-1210 was a Type VIIC U-boat of Nazi Germany's Kriegsmarine during World War II. She was ordered on 2 April 1942, and was laid down on 14 July 1943 at F Schichau GmbH, Danzig, as yard number 1580. She was launched on 9 February 1944 and commissioned under the command of Oberleutnant zur See Paul Gabert on 22 April 1944.

Bovenau is a village in the district of Rendsburg-Eckernförde, in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein. Bovenau is only 16 metres (52 ft) above sea level. The location is south of the municipality of Bünsdorf or Sehestedt, but north of Ostenfeld, Bredenbek, and west of Krummwisch, about 20 km (12 mi) away from the center of Kiel.

Windeby was an Amt ("collective municipality") in the district of Rendsburg-Eckernförde, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. The seat of the Amt was in Eckernförde, which wasn't part of the Amt. Eckernförde station is the station of the town of Eckernförde in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein. It is a through station and the most important en-route station on the Kiel–Flensburg railway. It is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 5 station. To the north of the entrance building there was also a terminal station of the Eckernförde District Railway (German: Eckernförder Kreisbahnen) until 1958.
