Boulder Creek () is a small rural mountain community in the coastal Santa Cruz Mountains. It is a census-designated place (CDP) in Santa Cruz County, California, with a population of 5,429 as of the 2020 census. Throughout its history, Boulder Creek has been home to a logging town and a resort community, as well as a counter-culture haven. Today, it is identified as the gateway to Big Basin Redwoods State Park.

The San Lorenzo Valley Museum is a pair of galleries and education centers created by the San Lorenzo Valley Historical Society "to preserve and share the history of the San Lorenzo Valley". Founded in March 1976, it operates as a nonprofit educational institution. The Museum's original gallery is located in Boulder Creek. An additional gallery is located in nearby Felton. The Museum's visitors are admitted without charge. Partial funding comes from the California Humanities and the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). Other funding comes from private and corporate contributions, membership dues, and earned retail revenue.

The San Lorenzo Valley is in the Santa Cruz Mountains in Santa Cruz County, California and was once a logging industry center of California especially during the rebuilding of San Francisco after the 1906 earthquake. Now it is home to over 35,000 people. Home to millions of Sequoia sempervirens, or redwood trees, the valley includes the census designated places of Ben Lomond, Felton, Brookdale and Boulder Creek, which lie along the winding, two-lane and outer areas of the valley and Highway 9. The San Lorenzo River starts at its headwaters above Boulder Creek, it runs through the valley on its way to the city of Santa Cruz, where it then flows into the Monterey Bay and the Pacific Ocean and also supplies the city of Santa Cruz with its drinking water. Much of the river valley is rural and wooded and other areas have neighborhoods and schools, and shopping areas. At its northern end, it abuts Big Basin Redwoods State Park and Castle Rock State Park; toward the southern end is Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park.

Loch Lomond is a reservoir in the Santa Cruz Mountains near Lompico in Santa Cruz County, California. Part of the Santa Cruz Water Department system, it was created by building the Newell Creek Dam across Newell Creek – a tributary of the San Lorenzo River. The dam is an earth-fill barricade, measuring 190 ft (58 m) by 750 ft (230 m). It was financed by bond issuance, and completed in the Fall of 1960; impounded water first ran over the spillway in March 1963. The reservoir is 175 acres (71 ha). It is 2.5 mi (4.0 km) long, 0.25 mi (0.40 km) wide, approximately 150 ft (46 m) deep, with a 9,200 acre⋅ft (11,300,000 m3) capacity. It provides a main portion of the drinking water supply for the city of Santa Cruz, California and also supplies other nearby county areas. Boating, fishing, picnicking and hiking take place at the reservoir. No daily private boat launching is permitted. No swimming is allowed. The reservoir has a boat rental and snack shop and is open every day from March 1 to September 15, and weekends only from Labor Day to October 17. Surrounding the reservoir is the Loch Lomond Recreation Area, which is owned and operated by the City of Santa Cruz Water Department. It has hiking trails, picnic areas, and boating access.

The airport has no air traffic control tower or other aviation services. Due to surrounding terrain, Runway 12 is used for departure with a usable length of 2400 feet. Runway 30 is used for landing and has a threshold displaced 390 ft. The traffic pattern altitude has been established at 1000 feet above ground level with a left turn landing pattern. The 35 foot wide asphalt runway is marked and well maintained. Although the field has a lighted windsock and non FAA compliant runway lighting, the airport is approved for day use only. Prior permission for use is required from the airport owner.
