Niendorf (German pronunciation: [ˈniːnˌdɔʁf] ) is a village and a former municipality in the Nordwestmecklenburg district, in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. Since May 2019, it is part of the new municipality Siemz-Niendorf. It is close to the cities of Lübeck, Wismar and Schwerin and is part of the Hamburg Metropolitan Region.

Herrenwyk power station was a coal-fired power station in Lübeck-Herrenwyk, Germany. It was the first regional power station in Schleswig-Holstein. The power station was owned and operated by Nordwestdeutsche Kraftwerke Aktiengesellschaft (now part of E.ON). Construction of the power station started in 1910 and the power station was commissioned on 11 June 1911. In 1955, a new 25 megawatt (MW) unit was commissioned. In 1992, the Lübeck-Herrenwyk power station was demolished after the bankruptcy and demolition of a local metallurgical plant. There was a proposal to build a new 400 MW power station at the site of the demolished power station. However, in 2000 E.ON abandoned this project because of the existing overcapacity in the electricity market. In 1994, the Baltic Cable's static invertor plant was built on the site of former power station.

German submarine U-1007 was a Type VIIC/41 U-boat of Nazi Germany's Kriegsmarine during World War II. She was ordered on 23 March 1942, and was laid down on 15 February 1943, at Blohm & Voss, Hamburg, as yard number 207. She was launched on 8 December 1943, and commissioned under the command of Kapitänleutnant Hans Hornkohl on 18 January 1944.

The Herren Tunnel (in German: Herrentunnel) is a German 780 metre-long road-tunnel underneath the river Trave. It is part of the national highway Bundesstrasse 75, connecting Lübeck and Travemünde. It is Germany's second toll tunnel, and was opened on 26 August 2005. The tunnel replaces a bridge. Cyclists who could use the bridge regularly are not allowed to cycle through the tunnel and have to detour via Bad Schwartau or use a free shuttle bus with long waiting times through the tunnel.
