Quintanaortuño

Vivar, or Vivar del Cid, is a village of approximately 260 inhabitants, part of the municipality of Quintanilla Vivar, located 7 kilometers (4.3 mi) away from Burgos, Spain. Tradition holds that the village was the birthplace of Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar, El Cid, as first written in the Castilian epic poem Cantar de Mio Cid.

Burgos-Rosa de Lima railway station serves the Spanish city of Burgos, Castile and León. The station opened in 2008, named after the politician Rosa de Lima Manzano Gete responsible for the Directorate-General for Traffic and killed in service in 1988 in a helicopter accident. This railway station serves around 300,000 passengers a year.

The 2009 Burgos bombing occurred on 29 July 2009, when at least 65 people were injured after a van bomb carrying more than 300 kg of explosive went off outside a Civil Guard barracks in the northern city of Burgos, Spain. The attack was blamed on Basque separatist group Euskadi Ta Askatasuna (ETA). Several children were among the 65 wounded in the attack. Some days before the attack, Spanish police warned that the organization might be trying a series of van bomb attacks after they found information of three vans being carried to Spain in a document seized from arrested members Asier Borrero, Itziar Plaza and Iurgi Garitagoitia a few weeks before the attack.

Iglesia de Santa María la Real y Antigua de Gamonal is a church in Burgos, Spain. The Gothic structure dates to the 14th century, although there is evidence of an earlier church dating back to the eleventh century, when King Alfonso VI moved his seat from the destroyed city of Oca of the Auca diocese in 1075. It became a Bien de Interés Cultural listed building on 3 June 1931.

In a long-lasting decline since the 17th century, following the start of the Spanish Civil War in 1936, Burgos became the headquarters of the Francoist proto-government. Declared in 1964 as Pole of Industrial Promotion and in 1969 as Pole of Industrial Development, the city has grown since then in terms of economic activity. At the regional level, Burgos forms part of an economic axis together with the cities of Valladolid and Palencia. In 2008, the international Burgos Airport started to offer commercial flights. The Museum of Human Evolution opened here in 2010. The museum features remains of the first hominins in Europe, which lived in this area 750,000-800,000 years ago. The Cathedral of Burgos is a World Heritage Site. Burgos was selected as the "Spanish Gastronomy Capital" of 2013. In 2015 it was named "City of Gastronomy" by UNESCO and has been part of the Creative Cities Network since then.
