Province of Burgos

Burgos is one of the 59 constituencies (Spanish: circunscripciones) represented in the Senate of Spain, the upper chamber of the Spanish parliament, the Cortes Generales. The constituency elects four senators. Its boundaries correspond to those of the Spanish province of Burgos. The electoral system uses limited voting, with electors voting for individual candidates instead of parties. Electors can vote for up to three candidates.

Burgos is one of the nine constituencies (Spanish: circunscripciones) represented in the Cortes of Castile and León, the regional legislature of the Autonomous Community of Castile and León. The constituency currently elects 11 deputies. Its boundaries correspond to those of the Spanish province of Burgos. The electoral system uses the D'Hondt method and a closed-list proportional representation, with a minimum threshold of three percent.

Burgos-Rosa de Lima railway station serves the Spanish city of Burgos, Castile and León. The station opened in 2008, named after the politician Rosa de Lima Manzano Gete responsible for the Directorate-General for Traffic and killed in service in 1988 in a helicopter accident. This railway station serves around 300,000 passengers a year.

Iglesia de Santa María la Real y Antigua de Gamonal is a church in Burgos, Spain. The Gothic structure dates to the 14th century, although there is evidence of an earlier church dating back to the eleventh century, when King Alfonso VI moved his seat from the destroyed city of Oca of the Auca diocese in 1075. It became a Bien de Interés Cultural listed building on 3 June 1931.

Villayerno Morquillas is a municipality located in the province of Burgos, Castile and León, Spain. According to the 2004 census (INE), the municipality has a population of 191 inhabitants.

Vivar, or Vivar del Cid, is a village of approximately 260 inhabitants, part of the municipality of Quintanilla Vivar, located 7 kilometers (4.3 mi) away from Burgos, Spain. Tradition holds that the village was the birthplace of Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar, El Cid, as first written in the Castilian epic poem Cantar de Mio Cid.

The 2009 Burgos bombing occurred on 29 July 2009, when at least 65 people were injured after a van bomb carrying more than 300 kg of explosive went off outside a Civil Guard barracks in the northern city of Burgos, Spain. The attack was blamed on Basque separatist group Euskadi Ta Askatasuna (ETA). Several children were among the 65 wounded in the attack. Some days before the attack, Spanish police warned that the organization might be trying a series of van bomb attacks after they found information of three vans being carried to Spain in a document seized from arrested members Asier Borrero, Itziar Plaza and Iurgi Garitagoitia a few weeks before the attack.

The Coliseum Burgos, formerly named as Plaza de Toros de Burgos, is an indoor arena mainly used as bullring located in Burgos, Spain.

Estadio Municipal de El Plantío is a stadium in Burgos, Spain. It is currently used for football (soccer) matches and is the home stadium of Burgos CF. The stadium holds 12,194 spectators. The construction of the stadium started on June 22, 1963, a few months after the project presentation.In March 2018 the reform of three of its four stands began.

Miraflores Charterhouse (Spanish: Cartuja de Miraflores) is an Isabelline style charterhouse, or Carthusian monastery of the Order of the Carthusians, built on a hill (known as Miraflores) about three kilometres from the center of the Spanish city of Burgos, autonomous community of Castile and León. Its origin dates back to 1442, when King John II of Castile donated a hunting lodge outside Burgos, which had been erected by his father Henry III of Castile "the Mourner" in 1401, to the Order of the Carthusians for its conversion into a monastery, thus fulfilling his father's wishes, as stated in his will. A fire in 1452 caused the destruction of the pavilion, and construction of a new building began in 1454. It is this building, which was placed under the patronage of Saint Mary of the Annunciation, which exists today. The construction was commissioned to Juan de Colonia, and was continued after his death by his son, Simón de Colonia, who completed the structure in 1484 at the behest of Queen Isabella I of Castile, surviving daughter of king John II of Castile and queen Isabella of Portugal, whose impressive buried are housed in the monastery. It is a late-Gothic jewel, and its highlights include the church, whose Isabelline style western facade is decorated with the coats-of-arms of its founders. The monastery consists of a single nave with stellar vault and side chapels, and is topped by a polygonal apse.

St. Francis Xavier School, Burgos (La Merced y San Francisco Javier) in northwest Spain was founded by the Jesuits in 1956. It covers pre-kindergarten through baccalaureate and includes a technical training division. Vocational Training includes academic degrees in Administration, Commerce and Marketing, Carpentry and Furniture, Computer Science and Electricity – Electronics in Middle Degree, Higher Degree or Basic FP, according to specialties.
