Johnson Farm is a historic home and farm complex and national historic district located near Kipling, Harnett County, North Carolina. It encompasses 21 contributing buildings, 2 contributing sites, and 3 contributing structures on a rural farm complex. The main house was built in 1918, and is a two-story, double pile, Southern Colonial frame dwelling. It features a monumental, two-story, front-gabled portico with a one-story wraparound porch. Also on the property are two tenant houses, two country stores, and a wide variety of agricultural outbuildings.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.

Kipling is an unincorporated community located along U.S. Route 401 in the Hectors Creek Township of Harnett County, North Carolina, United States, situated between the communities of Cape Fear and Chalybeate Springs north of Lillington. It is a part of the Dunn Micropolitan Area, which is also a part of the greater Raleigh–Durham–Cary Combined Statistical Area (CSA) as defined by the United States Census Bureau. Kipling was formerly known as Bradley's Store during the late 19th century (Powell 1968, p. 265). An incorporation effort for the community failed in 2001. Notable landmarks here include the community post office (ZIP code 27543).

Chalybeate Springs (sometimes simply Chalybeate) is an unincorporated community located in the Hector's Creek Township of Harnett County, North Carolina, United States. It is a part of the Dunn Micropolitan Area, which is also a part of the greater Raleigh–Durham–Cary Combined Statistical Area (CSA) as defined by the United States Census Bureau. The community was first settled in 1760 and was named for the nearby springs containing iron salts, around which developed an early health resort (Powell 1968, p. 98). The community was formally laid out as a 100-acre (0.40 km2) town in 1902 along the Raleigh and Cape Fear Railway (Hairr 2002, p. 104), which is now part of the Norfolk Southern Railway. Chalybeate Springs was the childhood home of Elizabeth Holt, who became a famous public advocate and ultimately moved to the Raleigh-Durham area. The Holts were a prosperous farming family in the Chalybeate Springs area.

The community was named for Methodist bishops Thomas Coke and Francis Asbury. The Buckhorn Iron Furnace, a former landmark near here, operated during the Civil War until 1873.(Powell 1968, p. 112)

It is a part of the Dunn Micropolitan Area, which is also a part of the greater Raleigh–Durham–Cary Combined Statistical Area (CSA) as defined by the United States Census Bureau. According to the Section L35 of the Harnett County Heritage Book, "Christian Light comprises an area along Christian light Road, Kipling Road and Cokesbury Rd and bounded on the West by Hectors Creek and on the West by Avents Creek. The center of the community being the intersection of Christian Light Road and State Road 1403 (Kipling and Cokesbury Road)".The community consists of two gas stations, two churches, and a fire department (Northwest Harnett Fire Department)

Duncan is an unincorporated community located in the Buckhorn Township of Harnett County, North Carolina (Powell 1968, p. 151), United States. It is a part of the Dunn Micropolitan Area, which is also a part of the greater Raleigh–Durham–Cary Combined Statistical Area (CSA) as defined by the United States Census Bureau. Duncan was used as major source of inspiration for the fictional town of Missing Mile, North Carolina in Poppy Z. Brite's novel Drawing Blood. Duncan was formerly known as Casma at least into the 1930s. As the rail road activity expanded along the Duncan Depot Station, the community became known as Duncan. Avents Creek and Parkers Creek, both tributaries to the Cape Fear River, rise in ponds near Duncan.
