It encompasses 21 contributing buildings, 2 contributing sites, and 3 contributing structures on a rural farm complex. The main house was built in 1918, and is a two-story, double pile, Southern Colonial frame dwelling. It features a monumental, two-story, front-gabled portico with a one-story wraparound porch. Also on the property are two tenant houses, two country stores, and a wide variety of agricultural outbuildings.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.

Summer Villa and McKay–Salmon House is a historic plantation complex and national historic district located near Lillington, Harnett County, North Carolina. It encompasses seven contributing buildings on a rural farm complex. Summer Villa was built about 1849, and is a two-story, five bay, Greek Revival style dwelling updated in the early 20th century Classical Revival style. It features a central, two-story pedimented portico supported by monumental Doric order columns with a one-story wraparound porch. The outbuildings associated with Summer Villa include the "Playhouse", carriage house (c. 1850), corn crib and three outbuildings. The McKay–Salmon House built in the last quarter of the 19th century and is a one-story decorated frame cottage.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

Summerville Presbyterian Church and Cemetery is a historic Presbyterian church and cemetery located near Lillington, Harnett County, North Carolina. The original church was built in 1811, burned down due to being struck by lightning, and was rebuilt in 1848. It is a simple rectangular frame building with Greek Revival and Gothic Revival design elements. The adjacent cemetery includes approximately 150 burial plots and a fine collection of mid and late-19th century markers.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

The township's northern border is with Wake County. Hector Creek rises and joins the Cape Fear River within this township.

Kipling was formerly known as Bradley's Store during the late 19th century (Powell 1968, p. 265). An incorporation effort for the community failed in 2001. Notable landmarks here include the community post office (ZIP code 27543).
