Borås

Caroli Church (Caroli kyrka, Borås) is a parish church in Borås, Sweden. It is the city's oldest preserved building and dated from the 13th-century. The church is associated with the Diocese of Skara of the Church of Sweden.

It also has various sport courses such as football and ice hockey. The course School of Athletics is one of few in Sweden and Sven Erikson is one of three schools in the country that have a serious commitment to football (soccer) by having a cooperation with the Swedish Football Association [1].

Borås Municipality (Borås kommun) is a municipality in Västra Götaland County in western Sweden. Its seat is located in the city of Borås. In 1971 the City of Borås was made a municipality (kommun) when the unitary type of local government unit was introduced in Sweden. Three years later many surrounding municipalities were amalgamated with Borås. In 1995 the western part was separated, creating Bollebygd Municipality. In the 1990s the municipal assembly (kommunfullmäktige) decided to use the name ″Borås stad″ or ″City of Borås″ whenever possible, for the whole municipality, including rural areas. This decision is purely nominal and has no effect on the legal status of the municipality.

Bäckängsgymnasiet is a gymnasium in Borås, Sweden that offers university preparatory programs in natural and social sciences, art and humanities. The school was founded in 1901 as "Högre allmänna läroverket i Borås", which can be translated as "the higher education institute of Borås". Approximately 1000 students are enrolled in Bäckängsgymnasiet's programs each year. Famous alumni include: former Prime Minister Ingvar Carlsson, actor Helge Skoog and artist and filmmaker Pål Hollender.

Ryavallen is a multi-purpose stadium in Borås, Sweden, mainly used for soccer and track and field athletics. It was inaugurated on 17 August 1941 with a soccer game where IF Elfsborg defeated Team Sweden, 2–1.It was the home ground for IF Elfsborg until 2005, when the Borås Arena was Inaugurated. During the 1958 FIFA World Cup, it hosted the matches between USSR and Austria, and between England and Austria. The record attendance is 22,654 spectators, when IF Elfsborg played IFK Norrköping in 1961. After Elfsborg had left the arena, the north stand was replaced by an indoor athletics hall. Ryavallen is currently used mostly for athletics. As of today (June 2016), Ryavallen has a seating capacity of circa 12 000 spectators.

Borås Ishall is an indoor arena located in Borås, Sweden. It is Borås HC's current home arena and has a capacity of 3,700 spectators.

Ramnavallen is a football stadium in Borås, Sweden and the former home stadium for the football teams IF Elfsborg and Norrby IF. Ramnavallen has a total capacity of 4,000 spectators.

Borås Djurpark is a 40-hectare (99-acre) zoo in the northern part of central Borås, Sweden. It has about 500 animals of 80 different species. The zoo was founded in 1962 by Sigvard Berggren, who was manager until 1969. Borås Djurpark is a member of the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA). It is the only zoo in Sweden that has African bush elephant.

The Älvsborg Regiment (Swedish: Älvsborgs regemente), designation I 15 and I 15/Fo 34, was a Swedish Army infantry regiment that traces its origins back 1624. It was disbanded in 1998. The regiment's soldiers were originally recruited from the provinces of Västergötland, and it was later garrisoned there in the town Borås.
