Beckett End

Foulden is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. The village is located 12 miles (19 km) north west of Thetford and 29 miles (47 km) west of Norwich, along the River Wissey.

St Andrew's Church is an active Church of England parish church in the village of Northwold, Norfolk, England. It is a Grade I listed building.

Northwold ("North forest") is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. It covers an area of 19.72 km2 (7.61 sq mi) and had a population of 1,070 in 448 households at the 2001 census, increasing to 1,085 at the 2011 Census. For the purposes of local government, it falls within the district of King's Lynn and West Norfolk. The civil parish also includes the hamlets of Whittington and Little London. The village is 7.5 mi (12.1 km) north of Brandon which is also the closest railway station on the Thetford to Ely line, and 95 mi (153 km) from London. It lies just to the north of the A134 between Thetford and King's Lynn and on the river Wissey, in the Western division of the county, Grimshoe Hundred, Thetford union and county court district, Cranwich rural deanery, Norfolk archdeaconry and Norwich Diocese. Northwold is mentioned in the Domesday Book and traces of human and mole settlements from the Neolithic period have been recorded. Hugh of Northwold was Abbot of Bury St Edmunds from 1215 to 1229 and afterwards Bishop of Ely. Between 1279 and 1301 John of Northwold was Abbot of Bury St Edmunds. Northwold is surrounded by farmland and some of the inhabitants work on farms in the district. This area of England cultivates sugar beet and there are several factories producing sugar in the region. Residents not working locally commute to Norwich or the nearby towns such as King's Lynn, Swaffham, Downham Market.The Norman Church of England Primary School (formerly The Norman School) is the only school in the village. It is named after local benefactor Caroline Amelia Norman. Northwold has not got a general store or post office. In earlier times the village boasted several public houses but now (2021) has one remaining pub "The Crown Inn". but at the current time (2023) the pub is closed due to the owners ill health.The village is served by the number 88 bus six times a day (Mon-Fri), running between Thetford and Kings Lynn. There is a reduced service of 3 buses a day on Saturdays.

Foulden Common is a 139-hectare (340-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest east of Downham Market in Norfolk. It is a Nature Conservation Review site, Grade 2, and part of the Norfolk Valley Fens Special Area of Conservation.This common has a mosaic of habitats, such as acidic and calcareous grassland, birch woodland, rich fen and open water. Flora in the fen grassland include purple moor-grass, black bog rush, purple small-reed and blunt-flowered rush.There is limited public access to the common.

Didlington Park Lakes is a 26.1-hectare (64-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest south of Didlington in Norfolk.These three artificial lakes probably date to the early nineteenth century. They are an important breeding site for wildfowl, including gadwall, teal, mallard, shoveler, tufted duck and great crested grebe.The site is private land with no public access.

The Brinks, Northwold or Northwold Meadows is a 16.4-hectare (41-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest south of Northwold in Norfolk.These unimproved meadows have areas of tall herbs and grassland grazed by cattle and sheep. There are also areas of woodland and several ponds. More than 140 flowering plants have been recorded, including green-winged orchid, black knapweed and pepper saxifrage.The site is private land with no public access.

Didlington is a village in the Breckland district of mid-Norfolk, East Anglia, England in the United Kingdom. It has an area of 11.07 km2 (4.27 sq mi) with a population of 48. At the 2011 Census the minimal population was included in the civil parish of Ickburgh. The villages name possibly means 'farm/settlement of Duddel's people' or perhaps, 'farm/settlement connected with Duddel'. The village is served by St Michael's Church in the Benefice of Cockley Cley.Didlington Hall was a country house, which at one point housed the Egyptological collections of William Tyssen-Amherst, 1st Baron Amherst of Hackney. Apart from the stables and a clock tower, it was demolished in the 1950s. A new house was built on the site in 2007.

Cranwich Camp is a 13.1-hectare (32-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest north-west of Thetford in Norfolk. It is part of the Breckland Special Area of Conservation and Special Protection Area.This former army camp in the Breckland is now grassland, and it has a high value both entomologically and botanically. It has four Red Data Book insects and three Red Data Book plants. Rabbits help to maintain the diverse flora and disturbed ground.The site is open to the public.

Cranwich is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk, about 2 miles (3.2 km) north west of Mundford. It covers an area of 7.38 km2 (2.85 sq mi) and had a population of 60 in 24 households at the 2001 census. The population remained less than 100 at the 2011 Census and was included in the civil parish of Ickburgh. For the purposes of local government, it falls within the district of Breckland. The villages name means 'Crane/heron marshy meadow'. Its church, St Mary's, is one of 124 existing round-tower churches in Norfolk. The village is referenced in the film Lesbian Vampire Killers, but is renamed "Cragwich", but still remains in the general Norfolk area.

Gooderstone is a village situated in the Breckland District of Norfolk and covers an area of 11.29 km2 (4.36 sq mi) with an estimated population of 390 in 2007, reducing to 363 at the 2011 Census. It lies 6 miles (9.7 km) south west from Swaffham. The villages name means "Guthere's farm/settlement".Gooderstone is served by St George's Church in the Benefice of Cockley Cley.Gooderstone Primary School also serves the villages of Foulden and Oxborough. Gooderstone Water Gardens and Nature Trail is open daily throughout the year.

Oxborough is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk, well known for its church and manor house Oxburgh Hall. It covers an area of 13.024 km2 (5.029 sq mi) and had a population of 240 in 106 households in the 2001 census, reducing to a population of 228 in 111 households at the 2011 Census. For the purposes of local government, it falls within the district of Breckland. The villages name means 'Ox fortification’. The Oxborough dirk, a Bronze Age ceremonial oversize dagger was discovered nearby in 1988. It was acquired for the nation and is now on display in the British Museum.

Oxburgh Hall is a moated country house in Oxborough, Norfolk, England. The hall was built for Sir Edmund Bedingfeld who obtained a licence to crenellate in 1482. The Bedingfelds gained the manor of Oxborough through marriage in the early 15th century, and the family has lived at the hall since its construction, although ownership passed to the National Trust in 1952. The house underwent extensive refurbishment in the mid 19th century under John Chessell Buckler and Augustus Pugin.
