Cranwich

Cranwich Camp is a 13.1-hectare (32-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest north-west of Thetford in Norfolk. It is part of the Breckland Special Area of Conservation and Special Protection Area.This former army camp in the Breckland is now grassland, and it has a high value both entomologically and botanically. It has four Red Data Book insects and three Red Data Book plants. Rabbits help to maintain the diverse flora and disturbed ground.The site is open to the public.

Didlington Park Lakes is a 26.1-hectare (64-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest south of Didlington in Norfolk.These three artificial lakes probably date to the early nineteenth century. They are an important breeding site for wildfowl, including gadwall, teal, mallard, shoveler, tufted duck and great crested grebe.The site is private land with no public access.

Didlington is a village in the Breckland district of mid-Norfolk, East Anglia, England in the United Kingdom. It has an area of 11.07 km2 (4.27 sq mi) with a population of 48. At the 2011 Census the minimal population was included in the civil parish of Ickburgh. The villages name possibly means 'farm/settlement of Duddel's people' or perhaps, 'farm/settlement connected with Duddel'. The village is served by St Michael's Church in the Benefice of Cockley Cley.Didlington Hall was a country house, which at one point housed the Egyptological collections of William Tyssen-Amherst, 1st Baron Amherst of Hackney. Apart from the stables and a clock tower, it was demolished in the 1950s. A new house was built on the site in 2007.

Mundford is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. It is situated at the intersection of two major routes, the A134 Colchester to King's Lynn road and the A1065 Mildenhall to Fakenham road, about 8 miles (13 km) north west of Thetford. The village is 35 miles (56 km) from the city of Norwich and 88 miles (142 km) from London.The villages name means 'Munda's ford'. The civil parish, in 1845, had 437 inhabitants, and 1609 acres of land, exclusive of a common of 190 acres, and also 90 acres of heath, where the parishioners had the right of fuel and rabbits, but no pasturage. Today it has an area of 2,060 acres (830 ha) and in the 2001 census had a population of 1,591 in 669 households. The population at the 2011 Census had reduced to 1,526 in 652 households. The parish shares boundaries with the adjacent parishes of Didlington, Cranwich, Weeting-with-Broomhill, Lynford and Ickburgh. The parish falls within the district of Breckland. Local government responsibilities are shared between the parish, district and county councils.

The Brinks, Northwold or Northwold Meadows is a 16.4-hectare (41-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest south of Northwold in Norfolk.These unimproved meadows have areas of tall herbs and grassland grazed by cattle and sheep. There are also areas of woodland and several ponds. More than 140 flowering plants have been recorded, including green-winged orchid, black knapweed and pepper saxifrage.The site is private land with no public access.

It is situated on the A1065 Mildenhall to Fakenham road, some 5.5 miles (8.9 km) north of Brandon and 9 miles (14 km) south of Swaffham. The village is 36 miles (58 km) from the city of Norwich and 89 miles (143 km) from London. The population (including Cranwich) and Didlington was 309 in 134 households at the 2011 Census. The parish has an area of 1,221 hectares (3,020 acres) and in the 2001 census had a population of 245 in 99 households. The parish shares boundaries with the adjacent parishes of Hilborough, Foulden, Didlington, Mundford, Lynford and Stanford. The parish falls within the district of Breckland. Local government responsibilities are shared between the parish, district and county councils.The villages name means 'Ic(c)a's fortification'.

Weeting-with-Broomhill is a civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. It covers an area of 25.16 km2 (9.71 sq mi) and had a population of 1,751 in 786 households at the 2001 census, the population increasing to 1,839 in 814 households at the 2011 Census. The area of the parish includes the village of Weeting. For the purposes of local government, it falls within the district of Breckland. The parish covers the area to the north of Brandon. The parish contains a neolithic site known as Grimes Graves. This is an extensive system of stone-age flint mines. Now a scheduled monument looked after by English Heritage.

Foulden is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. The village is located 12 miles (19 km) north west of Thetford and 29 miles (47 km) west of Norwich, along the River Wissey.

Northwold ("North forest") is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. It covers an area of 19.72 km2 (7.61 sq mi) and had a population of 1,070 in 448 households at the 2001 census, increasing to 1,085 at the 2011 Census. For the purposes of local government, it falls within the district of King's Lynn and West Norfolk. The civil parish also includes the hamlets of Whittington and Little London. The village is 7.5 mi (12.1 km) north of Brandon which is also the closest railway station on the Thetford to Ely line, and 95 mi (153 km) from London. It lies just to the north of the A134 between Thetford and King's Lynn and on the river Wissey, in the Western division of the county, Grimshoe Hundred, Thetford union and county court district, Cranwich rural deanery, Norfolk archdeaconry and Norwich Diocese. Northwold is mentioned in the Domesday Book and traces of human and mole settlements from the Neolithic period have been recorded. Hugh of Northwold was Abbot of Bury St Edmunds from 1215 to 1229 and afterwards Bishop of Ely. Between 1279 and 1301 John of Northwold was Abbot of Bury St Edmunds. Northwold is surrounded by farmland and some of the inhabitants work on farms in the district. This area of England cultivates sugar beet and there are several factories producing sugar in the region. Residents not working locally commute to Norwich or the nearby towns such as King's Lynn, Swaffham, Downham Market.The Norman Church of England Primary School (formerly The Norman School) is the only school in the village. It is named after local benefactor Caroline Amelia Norman. Northwold has not got a general store or post office. In earlier times the village boasted several public houses but now (2021) has one remaining pub "The Crown Inn". but at the current time (2023) the pub is closed due to the owners ill health.The village is served by the number 88 bus six times a day (Mon-Fri), running between Thetford and Kings Lynn. There is a reduced service of 3 buses a day on Saturdays.
