Cherry Lane, North Carolina

Cherry Lane Township is one of seven townships in Alleghany County, North Carolina, United States. The township had a population of 1,528 according to the 2010 census.Cherry Lane Township occupies 40.7 square miles (105.5 km2) in southeastern Alleghany County. The township's eastern border is with Surry County, and the southern border is with Wilkes County. There are no incorporated municipalities within the township. Unincorporated communities include Cherry Lane and Roaring Gap.

High Meadows Golf and Country Club is a private golf club and residential neighborhood in Roaring Gap, North Carolina. The club is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains near the North Carolina and Virginia state borders, along U.S. Route 21.

Roaring Gap is an unincorporated community in the Cherry Lane Township of Alleghany County, North Carolina, United States, situated near the border with Wilkes County. Home to three private golf communities, Roaring Gap is a popular summer colony.

Lake Louise, formerly known as Bullhead Lake, is a 54-acre reservoir in Roaring Gap, North Carolina. A man-made lake, it was formed between 1926 and 1927 in southeastern Alleghany County on the headwaters of Laurel Branch creek. Privately owned by the Roaring Gap Club, it was developed for residents and members for swimming, fishing, and boating.

Stone Mountain is the centerpiece of Stone Mountain State Park in North Carolina. It is a dome of exposed granite (specifically a quartz diorite to granodiorite) of Devonian age, which has intruded into the gneiss of the Precambrian Alligator Back Formation. It rises sharply over 600 feet (183 m) above the surrounding terrain. The mountain, which has an elevation of 2,305 feet (706 m) above sea level, is known for its barren sides and distinctive brown-gray color, and can be seen for miles. The mountain offers some of the best rock climbing in North Carolina, and the park's creeks and streams feature excellent brook trout fishing. Because the mountain is the best example of a monadnock in massive granite in North Carolina it was designated a National Natural Landmark in May 1974.

The Rock House, also known as the Bowman Gray House, is a historic home located in Roaring Gap, Alleghany County, North Carolina, United States. It was designed by architects Northup and O'Brien and built in 1929, and is a rambling, rock and chestnut bark-clad design that epitomizes the Rustic Revival style. Also on the property is a contributing Garage/Servant's Quarters (c. 1929).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

The William T. Vogler Cottage, also known as the Locust Grove Cottage, was a historic home located in Roaring Gap, Alleghany County, North Carolina. It was built in 1908–1909, and was a 1+1⁄2-story Queen Anne style influenced frame cottage. It featured an expansive, wrap-around attached porch. Also on the property were a contributing garage from the 1920s and a yard. It has been demolished. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

The Traphill Historic District is a national historic district located at Traphill, Wilkes County, North Carolina. It encompasses 11 contributing buildings in the village of Traphill. The buildings largely date to the late-19th century and include the Joseph Bryan House (1847), Old Storehouse (c. 1850–1870), Tenant House and Barn, White-Hinson House (1882), Traphill Bargain House, Traphill Baptist Church (1887), Traphill Institute (1891), C. D. Holbrook House (c. 1905), C. D. Holbrook Store, and Traphill Methodist Church (1921).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

Devotion is an unincorporated community in the Bryan Township of western Surry County, North Carolina, United States. Devotion is situated on the Mitchell River, and is the site of a large (100 square miles (260 km2)) family estate owned by members of the R. J. Reynolds family (Powell 1968, p. 142).

Thurmond is an unincorporated community in north eastern Wilkes County, North Carolina, United States, along the border with Surry County.

State Road is an unincorporated community located in the Bryan Township of Surry County, North Carolina and part of Edwards III Township in eastern Wilkes County, North Carolina, United States. As of the 2000 census, the State Road postal district (28676) had a total population of 3,047.[1] The community's unique name is derived from its location on U.S. Route 21. Legend has it that when US 21 was first being built, locals constructed a horseshoe pit on the graded road surface. On Sunday afternoons when they got together to pitch horseshoes, they would say "let's go to state road" and the name stuck.
