Traphill Historic District

Traphill is name of a rural community located in northeastern Wilkes County, North Carolina. The community is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Traphill is listed as a ZIP Code Tabulation Area (ZCTA) by the U.S. Census Bureau. According to the 2000 census, the population of Traphill was 1,936. Stone Mountain is the centerpiece of Stone Mountain State Park in North Carolina. It is a dome of exposed granite (specifically a quartz diorite to granodiorite) of Devonian age, which has intruded into the gneiss of the Precambrian Alligator Back Formation. It rises sharply over 600 feet (183 m) above the surrounding terrain. The mountain, which has an elevation of 2,305 feet (706 m) above sea level, is known for its barren sides and distinctive brown-gray color, and can be seen for miles. The mountain offers some of the best rock climbing in North Carolina, and the park's creeks and streams feature excellent brook trout fishing. Because the mountain is the best example of a monadnock in massive granite in North Carolina it was designated a National Natural Landmark in May 1974.

High Meadows Golf and Country Club is a private golf club and residential neighborhood in Roaring Gap, North Carolina. The club is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains near the North Carolina and Virginia state borders, along U.S. Route 21.

Roaring Gap is an unincorporated community in the Cherry Lane Township of Alleghany County, North Carolina, United States, situated near the border with Wilkes County. Home to three private golf communities, Roaring Gap is a popular summer colony.

Lake Louise, formerly known as Bullhead Lake, is a 54-acre reservoir in Roaring Gap, North Carolina. A man-made lake, it was formed between 1926 and 1927 in southeastern Alleghany County on the headwaters of Laurel Branch creek. Privately owned by the Roaring Gap Club, it was developed for residents and members for swimming, fishing, and boating.

Cherry Lane Township is one of seven townships in Alleghany County, North Carolina, United States. The township had a population of 1,528 according to the 2010 census.Cherry Lane Township occupies 40.7 square miles (105.5 km2) in southeastern Alleghany County. The township's eastern border is with Surry County, and the southern border is with Wilkes County. There are no incorporated municipalities within the township. Unincorporated communities include Cherry Lane and Roaring Gap.

The William T. Vogler Cottage, also known as the Locust Grove Cottage, was a historic home located in Roaring Gap, Alleghany County, North Carolina. It was built in 1908–1909, and was a 1+1⁄2-story Queen Anne style influenced frame cottage. It featured an expansive, wrap-around attached porch. Also on the property were a contributing garage from the 1920s and a yard. It has been demolished. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

The Rock House, also known as the Bowman Gray House, is a historic home located in Roaring Gap, Alleghany County, North Carolina, United States. It was designed by architects Northup and O'Brien and built in 1929, and is a rambling, rock and chestnut bark-clad design that epitomizes the Rustic Revival style. Also on the property is a contributing Garage/Servant's Quarters (c. 1929).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

Cherry Lane is an unincorporated community located in the Cherry Lane Township of Alleghany County, North Carolina, United States. The community was settled circa 1838 and was named for the cherry tree-bordered lane that led to the home of local resident Frank Bryan. The community is located along U.S. Highway 21, near its junction with the Blue Ridge Parkway in southeastern Alleghany County.

Devotion is an unincorporated community in the Bryan Township of western Surry County, North Carolina, United States. Devotion is situated on the Mitchell River, and is the site of a large (100 square miles (260 km2)) family estate owned by members of the R. J. Reynolds family (Powell 1968, p. 142).
