Kew High School

Glass Creek is a waterway flowing through the inner-eastern suburbs of Melbourne. It is a minor tributary of the Yarra River and now largely runs through a series of underground drains.

Kew East is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 8 km east from Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Boroondara local government area. Kew East recorded a population of 6,620 at the 2021 census.

East Kew was a railway station on the Outer Circle railway line, located in the suburb of Kew, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The station opened with the line on 24 March 1891, and closed with the line on 12 April 1893. It was located on the west side of Normanby Road, and was the site of a crossing loop with a platform on each track. A goods siding was also provided at the Riversdale end. The station was reopened on 11 February 1925, for goods traffic only, and was the terminus of the reopened section of the Outer Circle line from Deepdene railway station. Three loop sidings were provided, along with a headshunt, and there was a dead end extension at the Riversdale end. The headshunt, which crossed Normanby Road, was abolished in about 1935 to eliminate the level crossing, and the sidings became dead-end. Goods services were withdrawn on 6 September 1943, and the line back to Riversdale closed.

On 23 April 2020, a drugged truck driver, Mohinder Singh, crashed his truck into a Porsche 911 and two police cars on the Eastern Freeway, in the city of Melbourne, killing four police officers who were on routine highway patrol. Prior to the incident, the officers had pulled over the Porsche driver, Richard Pusey, for speeding. After the truck ploughed into the officers, Pusey filmed them for several minutes with vulgar commentary as they lay dying, before fleeing.The crash was the biggest loss of police lives in a single incident in Victoria police’s history. Justice Paul Coghlan stated that the crash had "shocked the public conscience".

Balwyn High School is a state-run high school (years 7–12) in the Melbourne suburb of North Balwyn, in Victoria, Australia. It was established in 1954. As of February 2013, it had 1948 students, making it the fourth largest secondary school in Victoria.The postwar student population expanded. The school assembly hall was built with assistance from parents and is named after a former principal, Archibald M. Rogers. Managing the large class sizes of the era, the school developed a strong science education at senior levels that saw many of its graduates pass into senior academic, government and private sector positions.The school buildings were rebuilt in 1994 after merging with Greythorn High School. Since 1996 the school has housed international students in their recently formed international student program.

Macleay Park is a park in the suburb of Balwyn North, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The western half of the park is also referred to as Myrtle Park. It is situated between Severn St and Buchanan Avenue in a portion of a valley through which the Glass Creek runs, now largely through underground drains.

Deepdene was a railway station on the Outer Circle railway line, located in the suburb of Balwyn, Melbourne, Australia. Located between Abercrombie Street and Whitehorse Road, it was opened on 24 March 1891, along with the line though it, and was named after the adjacent Deepdene House. There was a crossing loop on the single track, with two side platforms. A station building was situated on the east platform.: 91  The loop was removed after the initial closure, but replaced on reopening. For a time, the station was also open for goods.Deepedene station was first closed, along with the line, on 12 April 1893. However, it reopened on 14 May 1900, becoming the terminus of the reopened section of the Outer Circle line from Riversdale station. It was served by what became known, ironically, as the Deepdene Dasher, a shuttle service from Riversdale, consisting of one or two "American-style" carriages hauled by a steam locomotive.: 62  The line was reopened beyond Deepdene on 11 February 1925, to allow a goods service to be run to East Kew station. In the 1920s, almost all Melbourne suburban lines were electrified, but the lack of traffic on the Deepdene line meant that it was excluded from the electrification program. The Deepdene Dasher became one of the last steam-hauled passenger services in suburban Melbourne. On 15 August 1926, the final steam-hauled Deepdene Dasher ran, being replaced next day by two AEC railmotors coupled back to back.: 63  The passenger service was withdrawn on 9 October 1927, and the station closed to traffic, with the train being replaced by a bus service from East Camberwell station to Deepdene. The station building was destroyed by fire in 1927, which was believed to have been caused by a swagman. The former departmental residence, which was located alongside the Whitehorse Road level crossing, was demolished in 1938. Until 1943, goods services to East Kew continued to pass through the site of Deepdene station.

Genazzano FCJ College is a Roman Catholic, day and boarding school for girls, located in Kew, an eastern suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Established in 1889 by the Faithful Companions of Jesus (FCJ Sisters), the college has a non-selective enrolment policy. The Division of Kooyong is an Australian Electoral Division for the Australian House of Representatives in the state of Victoria, which covers an area of approximately 59 km2 (23 sq mi) in the inner-east suburbs of Melbourne. It is currently based on Kew, and also includes Balwyn, Canterbury, Deepdene, Hawthorn, Mont Albert and Mont Albert North; and parts of Camberwell, Glen Iris, Hawthorn East and Surrey Hills. Kooyong is a largely white-collar electorate. According to the 2016 census, 46.8% of electors hold a Bachelor's Degree, more than twice the national average.After the 2022 election, teal independent Monique Ryan became the member for the electorate, unseating former Liberal deputy leader and Treasurer Josh Frydenberg. She is both the first woman and the first non-Liberal Party candidate to win the seat since the party's inception in 1944, as well as the first member to unseat an incumbent in Kooyong since 1922.

Deepdene is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 9 km east from Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Boroondara local government area. Deepdene recorded a population of 2,101 at the 2021 census.Formerly a neighbourhood within the suburb of Balwyn, the Office of Geographic Names officially recognised Deepdene as a bounded locality in April 2010. A proposal to extend the suburb boundaries east to Balwyn Road and north to Belmore Road was voted down by Boroondara Council in April 2014.

Hislop Park, also known as Hislop Reserve, is a park in the suburb of Balwyn North, Melbourne, Australia. It is situated between Balwyn Road and the North Balwyn Tennis Club in a portion of a valley through which the Glass Creek runs, now largely through underground drains. It has a number of entrances accessible on foot, including from Albury St and Balwyn Road. The park contains three informal ovals, which are used by sporting clubs throughout the year.

St Hilary's Anglican Church is the umbrella name of a collection of Anglican churches in Melbourne, Australia, consisting of St Hilary's Anglican Church (Kew), St Silas Anglican Church (North Balwyn) and St Augustine's Anglican Church (Mont Albert North), also known previously as the SHAC Community. The parish is located in Melbourne's inner east and also manages a campsite near Bairnsdale, Victoria on the Banksia Peninsula which is called ‘Coromorant by the Lakes’.
