WJNT is currently owned by Alpha Media through licensee Alpha Media Licensee LLC and its sister stations are WJMI, WKXI-FM, WOAD, WRKS, and WJQS. All six stations have shared studios which are located in Ridgeland, a suburb of Jackson, while the transmitter tower for WJNT is located in Pearl. WJNT broadcasts a news/talk format with mostly syndicated talk shows such as Brian Kilmeade, Mark Levin and Laura Ingraham. WJNT operates at 50,000 watts during the day, 10,000 watts during critical hours and 500 watts at night.

The Pearl High School shooting was a school shooting that occurred on October 1, 1997 at Pearl High School in Pearl, Mississippi, United States. The gunman, 16-year-old 11th grade student Luke Woodham (born February 5, 1981), killed two students and injured seven others at the school after killing his mother at their home earlier that morning.

WZQK is a radio station licensed to Flowood, Mississippi. From November 9, 1992 until September 30, 2020, the station's call sign was WPBQ. Its previous format was urban variety, a blend of contemporary hip-hop, urban gospel, and even some regional Mexican. On October 9, 2020, WZQK debuted with classic country. It is located in the unincorporated community of Whitfield, Rankin County, Mississippi, along Mississippi Highway 468. The 350-acre (140 ha) campus is 15 miles (24 km) southeast of Jackson, between Jackson and Brandon. Historically many people referred to the center as "Whitfield," after the community in which it is located.

Mississippi Steel Corporation was a publicly traded company located in Flowood, Mississippi. It was the first steel mill built in the state, and its primary product has always been reinforcing bar steel. Its first incarnation ran from 1957 until 1985 when it was bought by Birmingham Steel Corporation, United States. The mill is still in business as part of Nucor. In 1956, both The Clarion-Ledger and The State Times newspapers reported that the area just to the east of Jackson had been carefully leveed to sustain industrial development. Per the State Times article, Wesley A. "Cotton" Caldwell is named the first chairman of the board, and production of merchant products and rebar should commence within one year.In 1985, The Clarion Ledger reported the sale of substantially all of the assets of Mississippi Steel Division of Magna Corporation, a Mississippi corporation, to Birmingham Steel Corporation.[1] Birmingham Steel operated two similar "Mini-Mills" in Alabama and Illinois. The Central Mississippi Correctional Facility (CMCF) is a Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) prison for men and women located in an unincorporated area in Rankin County, Mississippi, United States, between the cities of Pearl and Brandon. The 171-acre (69 ha) prison was, for a period of time, the only state prison to hold female prisoners in Mississippi, in addition to minimum and medium security male offenders. It operates as the female death row of the state.The prison is in proximity to the state capital of Jackson.The prison houses the Receiving and Classification Unit (R&C), where most prisoners entering the MDOC system are held before going to their permanent unit assignments. Most male inmates who are sentenced to MDOC by the courts or who are returned to MDOC as parole violators, probation violators, intensive supervision program (ISP) violators, earned release supervision (ERS) violators, and suspension violators are placed at R&C. All women inmates who are sentenced to MDOC by the courts or who are returned to MDOC as parole violators, probation violators, ISP violators, ERS violators, and suspension violators are placed in 1A or 2B at CMCF. Male death row inmates do not go to CMCF; they are transferred from county jails and immediately go to the Mississippi State Penitentiary, the location of the male death row.MDOC states that CMCF was "designed to provide aesthetics along with security."
