Harrison Bay State Park

Lakesite is a city in Hamilton County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,856 at the 2020 census. It is a northern suburb of the Chattanooga, TN–GA Metropolitan Statistical Area, located 15 miles north of the city.

Hamilton County is a county located in the U.S. state of Tennessee. It is located in the southern part of East Tennessee on the border with Georgia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 366,207, making it the fourth-most populous county in Tennessee. Its county seat is Chattanooga, located along the Tennessee River. The county was named for Alexander Hamilton, the first secretary of the treasury. Hamilton County is one of 95 counties within Tennessee. Hamilton County is part of the Chattanooga, TN-GA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The county was created on October 25, 1819. Hamilton County expanded to meet the state line with Georgia after absorbing parts of three different counties including Bledsoe, Marion, and Rhea. Part of the traditional Cherokee homeland, the county was created after the Cherokee signed a treaty in 1817 with the United States and ceded land north of the Hiwassee River. In the 21st century, Hamilton County is the eighth-highest income Tennessee location by per capita income ($26,588).

The Sequoyah Nuclear Plant is a nuclear power plant located on 525 acres (212 ha) located 7 miles (11 km) east of Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee, and 20 miles (32 km) north of Chattanooga, abutting Chickamauga Lake, on the Tennessee River. The facility is owned and operated by the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). The plant has two Westinghouse pressurized water reactors. Sequoyah units 1 & 2, as well as their sister plant at Watts Bar, both have ice condenser containment systems. In case of a large loss-of-coolant accident, steam generated by the leak is directed toward borated ice which helps condense the steam creating a lower pressure, allowing for a smaller containment building.

Harrison Bay State Park, the Hamilton County Landfill, Bear Trace Golf Course, a course designed by Jack Nicklaus, and Skull Island, a recreational area owned by TVA, are all located in Harrison.

Chattanooga Central High School is a public high school in Harrison, Tennessee, operated by the Hamilton County Board of Education. Central High School opened in September 1907 on Dodds Avenue in Chattanooga. It was one of Chattanooga's first public high schools. Its students came from all over the Hamilton County area and the school was highly acclaimed. In 1969, the high school was relocated to Highway 58 in Harrison.The school athletics teams originally went by the name Purple Warriors as the school colors are purple and gold. During an exceptionally good year in the 1930s a local sportswriter began to opine that they often "pounded" their opponents; the name stuck. The "Purple Pounders" is the current name, often illustrated with a hammer and anvil.From the summer of 2008 until April 2018, Finley King was the school's principal. He was the second former student to serve as principal. Phil Iannarone is the current principal.In early September 2019, an unidentified school administrator ordered washroom mirrors painted over because students were spending too much time checking their appearance. The decision was reversed after a Facebook post about it went viral.

Middle Valley is a census-designated place (CDP) in Hamilton County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 11,695 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Chattanooga, TN–GA Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Shady Grove is an unincorporated community in Hamilton County, Tennessee, United States. Shady Grove is located on the west bank of the Tennessee River 3.2 miles (5.1 km) north-northeast of Lakesite.

Soddy Daisy High School is a public high school located in Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee that is part of the Hamilton County Schools district. Originally, the towns of Soddy and Daisy each had its own high schools. In 1937, a comprehensive school was built between the two towns on Old Dayton Pike and the names of the towns were combined to name the school. The current building, at 618 Sequoyah Access Road, was opened in 1983. A round gymnasium was built many years after the old school and still stands on the original site. It serves as a wrestling arena for the present school. A memorial built from the bricks of the old school is located on the current high school grounds. In 2010 the school was the subject of a complaint from the Freedom From Religion Foundation about the school's practice of Christian school prayers at football games and other public events.The mascot of Soddy Daisy High School is a "Trojan" selected by the senior class of 1940 over the "Rams".

Booker T. Washington State Park is a 353-acre (1.43 km2) park situated on the shores of Chickamauga Lake. It was built largely by African-American units of the Civilian Conservation Corps. It was originally designated under segregation as one of two Tennessee State Parks for use by blacks (the other being T. O. Fuller State Park near Memphis) until discrimination in public accommodations in the United States was banned under the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

The Enterprise South Industrial Park, located in Chattanooga, Tennessee consists of 6,000 acres (24 km2). Originally the site of the Volunteer Army Ammunition Plant and operated by the U.S. Department of Defense, a large portion of the property is now home to the Volkswagen Chattanooga Assembly Plant as well as other industries.

The Volkswagen Chattanooga Assembly Plant (or Chattanooga Operations LLC) is an American automobile assembly plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The plant was formally announced in July 2008 and was formally inaugurated in May 2011.Production began in April 2011 with the model year 2012 Passat B7 (initially called the Passat NMS (New Midsize Sedan)), tailored to the US market, with a projected annual production of 150,000 cars. Passat production ended in December, 2021.Production of the Volkswagen Atlas commenced in 2017. Production of the electric Volkswagen ID.4 commenced July 26, 2022.
