The Northern Pacific Depot in Hinckley, Minnesota, United States, is a wood-framed depot built in 1895, the year after the previous depot was destroyed in the Great Hinckley Fire on September 1, 1894. The depot was built from the plans of the previous depot. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. The building was originally built by the St. Paul and Duluth Railroad, which was acquired by the Northern Pacific Railway in 1900. The building had separate men's and women's waiting rooms, a freight room, a restaurant known as the "Beanery", and a stationmaster's living quarters on the second floor.Passenger train service to Hinckley station ended on January 4, 1967, when trains 65 and 66 were discontinued between the Twin Cities and Duluth.The depot is now known as the Hinckley Fire Museum. The museum interprets the history of the fire that destroyed six towns and burned over 400 square miles (1,000 km2). It also explains how the town was rebuilt and how the area shifted to agricultural use after the lumbering era ended.

The Great Hinckley Fire was a conflagration in the pine forests of the U.S. state of Minnesota in September 1894, which burned an area of at least 200,000 acres (810 km2; 310 sq mi) (perhaps more than 250,000 acres [1,000 km2; 390 sq mi]), including the town of Hinckley. The official death count was 418; the actual number of fatalities was likely higher. Other sources put the death toll at 476.

Founded circa 1882 as "Brown's Hill" along the Northern Pacific Railroad line, it was renamed in 1895 when a post office called "Beroun" was established, and remained in operation until 1993. The community was founded by Czech immigrants, who named it after the town of Beroun in the Czech Republic. Grindstone Lake is a large freshwater lake located in Dell Grove Township, Pine County, in east-central Minnesota approximately 6.5 miles (10.5 km) west of Sandstone, Minnesota. The lake is roughly oval shaped being approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) in length north to south and 0.5 miles (0.80 km) east to west, and a maximum depth of 153 feet (47 m). The lake has several small streams that drain the area wetlands and is considered the headwater for the Grindstone River. The lake's name is a translation from the Ojibwe zhiigwanaabikokaa-zaaga'igan (Lake abundant with grind stones). Sandstone taken from near the lake was used to make sharpening stones. The lake, North Fork Grindstone River and the lower course of the Grindstone River are depicted on the 1757 Mitchell Map. Grindstone Lake is a popular resort area drawing cabin owners and visitors from the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. It also features a sea plane base, a religious summer camp, and a nature education center.
