Oasby

Heydour is a hamlet and civil parish in the South Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. The parish population of 286 at the 2001 census rose to 311 at the 2011 census. Heydour lies about 5 miles (8 km) south-west of Sleaford and 6 miles (10 km) north-east of Grantham. It forms a group of parish hamlets with Kelby, Culverthorpe, Oasby and Aisby.

It is situated 1 mile (1.6 km) north from the A52 road and 6 miles (10 km) north-east from Grantham.Aisby is written in the Domesday Book as "Asebi".Once a small hamlet belonging to the nearby Culverthorpe Estate, the village was sold off in lots in 1918 and is now expanded with additional building of housing since 1990. Aisby has other spellings in official records, including censuses, such as "Azeby" or "Hazeby".

Kelby is a village in the civil parish of Culverthorpe and Kelby, in the North Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. It lies 5 miles (8 km) south-west from Sleaford, 9 miles (14 km) north-east from Grantham and 3 miles (5 km) south-east from Ancaster. Kelby was formerly a chapelry in the parish of Haydor, in 1866 Kelby became a separate civil parish, on 1 April 1935 the parish was abolished and merged with Culverthorpe to form "Culverthorpe and Kelby". In 1921 the parish had a population of 61.Kelby church is dedicated to St Andrew. Its tower was rebuilt in 1881 after a collapse. The church basement is Norman and the font Early English, with pews originally from the chapel at nearby Grade II listed Culverthorpe Hall.A chapel for Primitive Methodists was established in 1859.

The parish consists of the two small villages of Braceby and Sapperton. Each village contains a small church dating from the 12th or 13th century. The northern edge of the parish is formed by the A52 Grantham to Boston road, and the western edge is largely coincident with the former line of the Roman road King Street between Stainfield and Anacaster. Part of this boundary is the ancient 'long hollow', and part the East Glen river. There are small woodlands on the eastern edge of the parish. The parish is around 80m above sea level on the Lincolnshire limestone hills between Grantham and the Fens.College Farmhouse dates back to 1677.For the purposes of local democracy, the parish is administered as part of adjacent Ropsley and Humby.

The parish consists of the small villages of Ropsley and Great Humby and the larger Little Humby, and the Deserted Medieval Villages of Overton Green and Ogarth. The northern edge of the parish is formed by the A52 Grantham to Boston road, and the eastern edge is largely coincident with the former line of the Roman road King Street between Stainfield and Anacaster. Part of this boundary is the ancient 'long hollow'. The parish is around 100m above sea level on the Lincolnshire limestone hills between Grantham and the Fens. Ancaster was a small town in the Roman province of Britannia. It is sited on the Roman road known as the Ermine Street and is situated in the county of Lincolnshire. Its name in Latin is unknown, although it has traditionally been identified with Causennis or Causennæ, a name which occurs as a town on the route of Iter V recorded in the Antonine Itinerary. Rivet and Smith questioned this identification in 1979, and suggested that a more likely identification would be either the Roman settlement at Salters ford, near Grantham in Lincolnshire, or at Sapperton in Lincolnshire.
