The Whatcom Transportation Authority (WTA) is the public transit authority of Whatcom County in northwestern Washington, based in the city of Bellingham. It provides bus service on 31 fixed routes, including branded "GO Lines" with 15-minute frequencies on weekdays, to cities in its service area. In addition to bus service, the WTA offers paratransit service and a vanpool programs. The WTA is funded by a 0.6% sales tax within the Whatcom County public transportation benefit area (PTBA) and grants from the state and federal governments. Service began on January 1, 1984, using equipment bought from the Bellingham municipal transit system after a countywide authority was established a year earlier. The WTA carried 5 million total riders on fixed bus routes in 2014, averaging out to 17,000 weekday boardings.

Squalicum High School (SqHS or SQHS) is a public school in Bellingham, Washington, United States, and is part of the Bellingham School District. The school serves the northeast population of Bellingham, including the area surrounding Lake Whatcom. Squalicum takes students from Shuksan Middle School and Whatcom Middle School.

On June 10, 1999, the Olympic pipeline operated by Olympic Pipe Line Company, carrying gasoline at the time, exploded in Whatcom Falls Park in Bellingham, Washington. The disaster started at 3:25 PM PDT (22:25 UTC) when a mostly underground gasoline pipeline that crossed Whatcom and Hanna Creeks ruptured due to various errors and malfunctions on the part of Olympic Pipeline and others. The gasoline vapors exploded at 5:02 PM PDT, sending a fireball down Whatcom Creek. Three people died in the incident.

Whatcom Falls Park is a 241-acre (0.98 km2) park in Bellingham, Washington, United States. The falls are on Whatcom Creek, which leads from Lake Whatcom to Bellingham Bay. The park has four sets of waterfalls and several miles of well maintained walking trails. Other features include: Fishing pond – children 14 and under only. Two Tennis courts (upper parking lot) Athletic fields (upper parking lot) Picnic tables and shelters can be rented from the parks department office. Two playgrounds – one at each the upper and lower parking lots Whatcom Falls pump trackBellingham Technical College operates a trout hatchery within the park on behalf of the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife.

White City was an amusement park located at Lake Whatcom's Silver Beach in Bellingham, Washington.White City opened in 1906 and closed in 1919. The park had a wooden roller coaster, plus a hotel, dance hall and an ice cream parlor. White City was named because of its "white" electric lights.

KZAZ (91.7 FM) is a radio station licensed to Bellingham, Washington. The station is owned by Washington State University, and airs Northwest Public Broadcasting's news and talk and classical music programming.

The Bellingham Sportsplex is an American multi-use sports facility located in Bellingham, Washington. The Sportsplex contains two turf fields, primarily used for indoor soccer, and an ice rink, used by local amateur ice hockey teams, figure skating lessons and performances, and home games for the Whatcom Soccer Academy Rapids soccer games and Western Washington University hockey teams.

PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center (commonly shortened to St. Joe's) is a hospital operated by PeaceHealth in Bellingham, Washington. Its trauma center is the Haggen Family Emergency and Trauma Center, a level II trauma center.The hospital provides general medical care, as well as specialized treatment for heart and joint conditions and cancer. It is the only hospital in Whatcom County. They have 251 licensed beds.

KBAI (930 AM) is a radio station broadcasting a classic hits format. Licensed to Bellingham, Washington, the station serves the Whatcom County area. The station is owned by Saga Communications, and is operated as part of its Cascade Radio Group.

Joe Martin Stadium is a baseball park in the northwest United States, located in Bellingham, Washington. It was a minor league ballpark in the Class A-Short Season Northwest League for 24 seasons, from 1973 through 1996. The ballpark hosted three different NWL teams. The Bellingham Dodgers arrived in 1973 and stayed for four seasons. They were replaced in 1977 by the most well-known tenant, the Bellingham Mariners (or "Baby M's"), who played from 1977 through 1994 and gave big-league Mariners fans a glimpse of the future with players like Ken Griffey Jr., Edgar Martínez, Dave Henderson, and Dave Valle. After 18 seasons and four league championships, the Mariners moved their NWL ballclub closer to Seattle at Everett. The San Francisco Giants brought their affiliate to town where they played for two years (1995–96), then moved south to Oregon and became the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes in 1997. In 1999, it became the home of the Bellingham Bells of the Pacific International League (PIL). The Bells played in the PIL for six years. In 2005, the team chose to become one of the founding franchises of the West Coast Collegiate Baseball League. Today, the league was later renamed the West Coast League and features some of the finest collegiate players in the country. Each summer the Bells play around 30 home games at Joe Martin Field as part of their WCL schedule which features teams from Washington, Oregon, Alberta and British Columbia. In 2014, the natural grass playing surface was replaced with synthetic FieldTurf; the renovation cost about $1.44 million and was completed in March 2015. The field has an unorthodox southwest alignment (home plate to center field); the recommended alignment is east-northeast, nearly opposite. Its elevation is approximately 140 feet (43 m) above sea level.
