C. K. McClatchy High School, also known as simply McClatchy High School, is a high school in the Sacramento City Unified School District. It is located in the Land Park area of Sacramento, California. Established in 1937, it is the oldest operating high school in the district having succeeded crosstown rival, Sacramento High School, following its closure in 2003. McClatchy High School boasts over fifty clubs and over 50,000 alumni.

William Land Park, frequently referred to as simply "Land Park" is a major city park in Sacramento, California. The park is located between Interstate 5 and State Route 160. William Land was a pioneer who built the Western Hotel at the NE corner of 2nd and K St in 1875 (California Historical Landmark #601). There is an elementary school named after him. He is buried in a Greek temple mausoleum within East Lawn Memorial Park in Sacramento. William Land was a founder of the East Lawn Memorial. There are several city attractions located within the park including: The Sacramento Zoo Fairytale Town, a park which has play equipment designed to represent articles from various fairy tales and nursery rhymes (there is a small admission fee). The William Land Golf Course Funderland, a small park with several carnival like rides primarily for very young children."Land Park" can also refer to the surrounding neighborhood. Congregation B'nai Israel (בני ישראל in Hebrew) is the oldest Jewish congregation in Sacramento, California. The congregation, which began as an Orthodox community, traces its history back to the California Gold Rush of 1849, when Jewish settlers gathered to observe the High Holy days. The congregation purchased its first building at 7th and L streets on September 2, 1852, making it the first congregationally owned synagogue west of the Mississippi River.

Sutterville (also, Sutter, Sutter City, and Suttersville) is a former settlement in Sacramento County, California. It was located on the Southern Pacific Railroad 2.25 miles (3.6 km) south-southwest of Sacramento,John A. Sutter had Lansford W. Hastings and John Bidwell lay out the town in 1844, south of his embarcadero on a low bluff overlooking the Sacramento River. In exchange, Hastings and Bidwell both received a share of the lots. It was in this settlement that George Zins built one of the first brick structures in California in 1847. When the town of Sacramento developed at his embarcadero, Sutterville fell into decline. The Sutterville post office operated from 1855 to 1860. Sutterville was the site of Camp Union, a major California Volunteer training camp during the American Civil War.Sutterville is also California Historical Landmark #593.

4th Avenue/Wayne Hultgren station is an at-grade light rail station on the Blue Line of the Sacramento RT Light Rail system operated by the Sacramento Regional Transit District. The station is located in an exclusive right-of-way alongside the Union Pacific Railroad's Sacramento Subdivision at its intersection with 4th Avenue, after which the station is named, in the city of Sacramento, California. It is located southeast of the 21st Street and Freeport Boulevard intersection, and serves the residential areas of Land Park and Curtis Park, commercial development along Freeport Boulevard, and C. K. McClatchy High School. The station is named in honor of Wayne Hultgren, a community activist who was essential in the establishment of light rail in Sacramento.

The Sacramento Zoo is a zoo located in William Land Park in Sacramento, California. It opened on June 2, 1927, with 40 animals. At that time, it occupied 4.2 acres (1.7 ha), which remained the case until the early 1960s when the zoo expanded to its current 14.3 acres (5.8 ha). As of December 2012, the zoo had just over 500 animals on site.

Sacramento City College (SCC) is a public community college in Sacramento, California. SCC is part of the Los Rios Community College District and had an enrollment of 25,307 in 2009. It is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC), offering Associate in Science (A.S) and Associate in Art (A.A.) degrees.

Upper Land Park is a neighborhood in the more general Land Park area of Sacramento, California which is referred to by the city as Area 2. It is located near the junction of U.S. Route 50 and Interstate 5. Its boundaries are officially Broadway to the north, Swanston Drive to the south, Riverside Boulevard to the east, and I-5 to the west.

The Sacramento Historic City Cemetery (or Old City Cemetery), located at 1000 Broadway, at 10th Street, is the oldest existing cemetery in Sacramento, California. It was designed to resemble a Victorian garden and sections that are not located in level areas are surrounded by brick or concrete retaining walls to create level terraces. The cemetery grounds are noted for their roses which are said to be among the finest in California.

Edmonds Field was home to the Sacramento Solons, the Pacific Coast League AAA team until 1960 when they moved to Hawaii. On April 12, 1964, prior to it being demolished to make way for a Gemco discount store, the last baseball game played there was an exhibition game between the San Francisco Giants and the Cleveland Indians. That game featured back-to-back home runs by Willie Mays and Willie McCovey, both hit over the towering walls in right center field.The field was located at the southeast corner of Broadway and Riverside Boulevard. A Target Store currently occupies the footprint of the former field and there is a plaque in the parking lot where home plate used to sit.

The Tower Theatre, built in 1938, is a Sacramento, California landmark and the oldest remaining, continuously running picture palace.The theater was designed by California theater architect William B. David in the Streamline Moderne style of architecture. The original owner was Joseph Blumenfeld, a second generation theatre owner. At the time, there was only one movie screen. The first movie shown was Algiers. The theatre was renovated in 1972 and divided into a three screen cinema.They were bought by the Reading International theater chain in 1998, who, upgraded the theater in 2012 with digital projectors. In 2016, it was sold to an endowment fund as a long-term investment.

Camp Union near Sacramento, California was a military training center for the Union Army during the American Civil War. First constructed near Sacramento, across the river from Sutterville the camp operated from 1861 until it was evacuated due to the flood waters from the Great Flood of 1862. The second camp site was located on the east side of the river in Sutterville. These camps primarily served as a training camps for California volunteer regiments. Toward the end of the conflict, the camp became a discharge center for returning troops until the post was closed and abandoned in 1866. The troops of the 5th Regiment California Volunteer Infantry, organized and training in the camp at the time, aided the flooded capital of California during the Great Flood. The site is California Historical Landmark No. 666.
