Camp Union (California)

The Sacramento Zoo is a zoo located in William Land Park in Sacramento, California. It opened on June 2, 1927, with 40 animals. At that time, it occupied 4.2 acres (1.7 ha), which remained the case until the early 1960s when the zoo expanded to its current 14.3 acres (5.8 ha). As of December 2012, the zoo had just over 500 animals on site.

William Land Park, frequently referred to as simply "Land Park" is a major city park in Sacramento, California. The park is located between Interstate 5 and State Route 160. William Land was a pioneer who built the Western Hotel at the NE corner of 2nd and K St in 1875 (California Historical Landmark #601). There is an elementary school named after him. He is buried in a Greek temple mausoleum within East Lawn Memorial Park in Sacramento. William Land was a founder of the East Lawn Memorial. There are several city attractions located within the park including: The Sacramento Zoo Fairytale Town, a park which has play equipment designed to represent articles from various fairy tales and nursery rhymes (there is a small admission fee). The William Land Golf Course Funderland, a small park with several carnival like rides primarily for very young children."Land Park" can also refer to the surrounding neighborhood. Vic's Ice Cream – landmark restaurant in the neighborhood.William Land Park was mentioned in Sir Mix-A-Lot's 1992 rap song "A Rapper's Reputation".

Sutterville (also, Sutter, Sutter City, and Suttersville) is a former settlement in Sacramento County, California. It was located on the Southern Pacific Railroad 2.25 miles (3.6 km) south-southwest of Sacramento,John A. Sutter had Lansford W. Hastings and John Bidwell lay out the town in 1844, south of his embarcadero on a low bluff overlooking the Sacramento River. In exchange, Hastings and Bidwell both received a share of the lots. It was in this settlement that George Zins built one of the first brick structures in California in 1847. When the town of Sacramento developed at his embarcadero, Sutterville fell into decline. The Sutterville post office operated from 1855 to 1860. Sutterville was the site of Camp Union, a major California Volunteer training camp during the American Civil War.Sutterville is also California Historical Landmark #593.

Congregation B'nai Israel (בני ישראל in Hebrew) is the oldest Jewish congregation in Sacramento, California. The congregation, which began as an Orthodox community, traces its history back to the California Gold Rush of 1849, when Jewish settlers gathered to observe the High Holy days. The congregation purchased its first building at 7th and L streets on September 2, 1852, making it the first congregationally owned synagogue west of the Mississippi River.

City Seminary of Sacramento is a conservative, evangelical seminary in Sacramento, California.

Land Park is a neighborhood in the city of Sacramento. Land Park consists of mainly single-family dwellings in the area between Interstate 5 to the west, Broadway to the north, Sutterville Road to the south and Freeport Blvd to the east. William Land Park is its namesake, a major city park south of Highway 50 and east of Interstate 5 in South Sacramento. It also contains the Sacramento Zoo along with the popular children's theme parks Funderland and Fairy Tale Town. In addition, Land Park is the home to the popular Vic's Ice Cream, Masullo Pizza, Tower Cafe, and Tower Theater. Katie Valenzuela is the city councilmember for District 4, which includes the entire Land Park area.

Sacramento City College (SCC) is a public community college in Sacramento, California. SCC is part of the Los Rios Community College District and had an enrollment of 25,307 in 2009. It is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC), offering Associate in Science (A.S) and Associate in Art (A.A.) degrees.

C. K. McClatchy High School, also known as simply McClatchy High School, is a high school in the Sacramento City Unified School District. It is located in the Land Park area of Sacramento, California. Established in 1937, it is the oldest operating high school in the district having succeeded crosstown rival, Sacramento High School, following its closure in 2003. McClatchy High School boasts over fifty clubs and over 50,000 alumni.

Charles C. Hughes Stadium (commonly referred to as Hughes Stadium) is an outdoor stadium in the Western United States, located at Sacramento City College in Sacramento, California. The stadium opened in 1928 and was initially known as Sacramento Stadium and Sacramento College Stadium. It was renamed in November 1944 in honor of Charles Colfax Hughes, the first superintendent of the Sacramento City Unified School District, who died a month earlier.In 2012, the stadium underwent a major overhaul, installing an artificial turf field surface, a new track surface, and a major refurbishment of the facilities documented in this video. Its present seating capacity is 20,311.

City College station is an at-grade light rail station on the Blue Line of the Sacramento RT Light Rail system operated by the Sacramento Regional Transit District. The station is located in an exclusive right-of-way alongside the Union Pacific Railroad's Sacramento Subdivision and a small rail yard, on the campus of Sacramento City College, after which the station is named, in the city of Sacramento, California. The station is located northeast of Charles C. Hughes Stadium on campus. In addition to serving the college this station also serves William Land Park and Curtis Park. This 60-foot (18 m) wide station provides bus service, drop-off areas, and walkways to the stadium, campus, and parking lots.The land west of the station has been the site of transit-oriented development community named Crocker Village. The remediated brownfield land was formerly part of a larger Union Pacific rail yard. Early construction includes a bridge over the light rail platform and the remaining rail yard and a 91-unit senior housing development called Curtis Park Court.Altamont Corridor Express and San Joaquins services are planned to stop at the station when those lines are extended to Sacramento. A new platform will be constructed along the main line by 2027 to facilitate the commuter rail and inter-city trains.

Sacramento New Technology High School is a small charter school based on the rings of New Tech Network's New Technology High Schools. It is part of the Sacramento City Unified School District and is located in South Sacramento.

Upper Land Park is a neighborhood in the more general Land Park area of Sacramento, California which is referred to by the city as Area 2. It is located near the junction of U.S. Route 50 and Interstate 5. Its boundaries are officially Broadway to the north, Swanston Drive to the south, Riverside Boulevard to the east, and I-5 to the west.
