The National Strawberry Festival in Belleville, Michigan, established in 1977, began as a way for local farmers to celebrate their strawberry crops. Taking place over three days, held the third weekend in June, the festival offers many events for people of all ages. In collaboration with area churches and schools, some of the events include: Bingo Strawberry desserts Parade Car show "Strawberry Queen Pageant" Live entertainmentEach year the festival attracts over 200,000 people from Southeastern Michigan and farther. This festival went on hiatus in 2020-21 caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and has not been resumed.

Van Buren Township is a charter township in Wayne County in the U.S. state of Michigan. A western suburb of Detroit, Van Buren Township is located roughly 28 miles (45.1 km) southwest of downtown Detroit, and 17 miles (27.4 km) southeast of Ann Arbor. As of the 2020 census, the township had a population of 30,375. It surrounds, but is independent of, the city of Belleville. Belleville Lake is a principal geographic feature, and the township is also home to Willow Run Airport, which extends into neighboring Ypsilanti Township.

Michigan's 12th congressional district is a U.S. congressional district in Michigan. The district was first created during the reapportionment and redistricting after the 1890 census. From 2003 to 2013, it was located in Detroit's inner suburbs to the north, along the Interstate 696 corridor in Macomb and Oakland counties, and a portion of Macomb north of the corridor. District boundaries were redrawn in 1993 and 2003 due to reapportionment following the censuses of 1990 and 2000. After Michigan's congressional map was redrawn in 2022, the 12th lost Ann Arbor and most of its suburbs and was re-centered around the cities of Detroit and Dearborn.During the 113th Congress (2013 to 2015), the district was represented by John Dingell (D). He was a congressman for this and other districts for 59 years, making him the longest-serving member of Congress in U.S. history. He was succeeded by his wife, Debbie Dingell, who currently represents the 6th congressional district. The current district is represented by Democrat Rashida Tlaib, who had previously represented the old 13th district. With a Cook Partisan Voting Index rating of D+23, it is one of the most Democratic districts in Michigan.

Willow Run Air Force Station is a former United States Air Force station that operated to the east of Willow Run Airport in Michigan.

The Michigan Flight Museum, formerly known as the Yankee Air Museum, is an aviation museum located at Willow Run Airport in Van Buren Township, Michigan. The museum has a small fleet of flying aircraft and a collection of static display aircraft outdoors.

The French Landing Dam and Powerhouse is a hydroelectric gravity dam and powerhouse crossing the Huron River in Van Buren Charter Township in Wayne County in the state of Michigan. The dam and the powerhouse were completed in 1925 by the Detroit Edison Company on land previously purchased in 1910. The dam and powerhouse were designated as a Michigan State Historic Site on February 18, 1982.The French Landing Dam is about 28 miles (45 km) from the river mouth at Lake Erie. It is the second-to-last of the 17 dams along the 130-mile-long (210 km) Huron River, approximately 7.9 miles (12.7 km) downstream from the Ford Lake Dam and 18.4 miles upstream from the Flat Rock Dam. When the dam was completed, the resulting reservoir created Belleville Lake and subsequently led to the destruction of the village of Rawsonville.When completed, the powerhouse had a hydroelectric generating capacity of 12.7 kilowatt hours. The powerhouse was decommissioned in 1962. In 1981, the property was donated to the township, restored, and put back into service in 1988 and is still operational. The powerhouse currently has a capacity of 1.7 MW. The powerhouse facility and the dam are off limits to the public, but the surrounding area along Haggerty Road has been organized as the French Landing Park, which is a popular destination for picnickers and shore fishermen.

Willow Run Airport (IATA: YIP, ICAO: KYIP, FAA LID: YIP) is an airport in Van Buren Charter Township and Ypsilanti Township, near Ypsilanti, Michigan, United States, that serves freight, corporate, and general aviation. Due to its very close proximity to Detroit Metropolitan Airport, no major airlines schedule passenger flights to or from Willow Run. It is included in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2017–2021, in which it is categorized as a national reliever airport facility.Opened in 1942, "Willow Run" was synonymous with the American industrial effort that contributed so much to Allied victory in World War II. Operated by the Ford Motor Company, the Willow Run manufacturing plant produced a total of 8,685 B-24 Liberator heavy bombers, completed and in kit form, before closure in April 1945; Willow Run produced more Liberators than either plant owned by the plane's designer, Consolidated Aircraft. Today the Yankee Air Museum, located in one of the airport's hangars, has a large collection of vintage aircraft.

Ameristar Charters Flight 9363 was an air charter flight from Willow Run Airport in Ypsilanti, Michigan to Dulles International Airport in Dulles, Virginia, which experienced a rejected takeoff and runway excursion on March 8, 2017 as the result of a jammed elevator; the McDonnell Douglas MD-83 operating the flight was substantially damaged, but only one injury and no fatalities occurred to the 116 crew and passengers on board.

Lower Huron Metropark is a park in the Huron-Clinton system of metro parks in Metro Detroit. The park covers 1,258 acres (5.09 km2) along the Huron River and has hike-bike trails and two self-guided nature trails. In the winter, the park has cross-country skiing. The park also has a water slide amusement facility, the Turtle Cove Family Aquatic Center. There is a 27-site campground, a group campground and canoe camping in the park.Situated in the flood plain of the Huron River, some parts of the park may flood, especially when Belleville Dam releases excess water.

The John and Edna Truesdell Fischer Farmstead is a private farm, including house and outbuildings, located at 4896-5228 Sheldon Road in Canton Township, Michigan. The 1897 Queen Anne farmhouse located on the site is also known as the Michael and Catherine Hasselbach Fischer House. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.
