The Government Central Press in Chennai houses the stationery and printing department of the Tamil Nadu government, undertaking the printing works of the state government and maintenance of government records. Presently, it has eight branch presses and stationery stores functioning under its control. In 2017, the department had 1,646 employees, including 433 women.

Old Jail Road is one of the peripheral roads that border the historical neighbourhood and commercial centre of George Town in Chennai, India. The road marks the northern boundary of the neighbourhood and is officially divided into three, namely, from west to east, the Basin Bridge Road, the Old Jail Road, and the Ibrahim Sahib Street. The road joins the Grand Northern Trunk (GNT) Road at the Wall Tax Road–GNT Road junction in the west and the Rajaji Salai in the east. The road, serving as a reminder of the neighbourhood's historical past, is address to many historic places such as the Government Stanley Medical College, Monegar Choultry, and Seven Wells pumping station.

Basin bridge (Tamil: பேசின் பாலம்) is a neighbourhood in Chennai district of Tamil Nadu state in the peninsular India. It is located at an altitude of about 28 m above the mean sea level with the geographical coordinates of 13°06′23.5″N 80°16′31.2″E (i.e., 13.106535°N, 80.275340°E). George Town, Royapuram, Kondithope, Mannadi Vannarapettai, Tondiarpet, Sowcarpet, Vallalar Nagar and Kasimedu are some of the important neighbourhoods of Basin Bridge area.

Moolakothalam (Tamil: மூலக்கொத்தளம்) is a neighbourhood in Chennai district of Tamil Nadu state in the peninsular India. Moolakothalam has a dry fish market which functions for more than 50 years.Moolakothalam is located at an altitude of about m above the mean sea level with the geographical coordinates of 13.107000°N 80.273800°E / 13.107000; 80.273800.There is a 120-year-old burial ground in Moolakothalam. The burial ground is a historical site of the final resting place of anti-Hindi agitation leaders viz., Natarajan and Thalamuthu. Also, there is a memorial erected, for social activist cum reformer S. Dharmambal, in Moolakothalam. The surface area of this burial ground is of 20 acres. There is a proposal of State Government of Tamil Nadu, to construct a multi-storey apartment complex near the burial ground of Moolakothalam, for the welfare of Adi-dravida people living there. Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance board makes necessary steps to acquire a part of the burial ground here for this purpose, even though some political parties such as MDMK, CPM and VCK, oppose this. The project cost of the proposed 1,044 dwelling units to be built with all modern amenities, is estimated to about ₹138.29 crore. Murthy Vinayagar Temple located in Moolakothalam is under the control of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.

Stanley Medical College (SMC) is a government medical college with hospitals located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Though the original hospital is more than 200 years old, the medical college was formally established on 2 July 1938. The medical college and the hospital include a Centre of Excellence for Hand and Reconstructive Microsurgery and a separate cadaver maintenance unit, the first in the country. By legacy, the hospital's anatomy department receives corpses for scientific study from the Monegar Choultry from which the hospital historically descended.

Peddanaickenpettah is a locality in the city of Chennai, India. It forms a part of the neighbourhood of Georgetown.

Broadway (officially known as Prakasam Salai, after the freedom fighter T. Prakasam) is one of the historical thoroughfares of the commercial centre of George Town in Chennai, India. The road runs north–south connecting China Bazaar Road in the south with Ibrahim Sahib Street (Old Jail Road) in the north. The road divides George Town into Muthialpet and Peddanaickenpet.

Basin Bridge Junction is a station on the Chennai Suburban Railway and serves the locality of Basin Bridge, the confluence on the Otteri Nullah and Buckingham Canal, in Chennai, India. The station is located at the southern end of the 'diamond' junction in Chennai, where all the lines of the Chennai Suburban Railway meet. It is the first station after Chennai Central. At this station, the line divides into three: one going towards Avadi and Arakkonam, the other towards Ennore and Gummidipoondi, and the third towards Chennai Beach and Chennai Egmore. Thus, the station acts as the entry point to Chennai Central terminus where inbound trains from all the three lines are stopped before assigning a platform at Chennai Central. It also contains a railway maintenance shed with 19 pit-lines, each measuring 3-ft deep to accommodate about 24 coaches. The station has an elevation of 7 m above sea level. GMR Vasavi Diesel Power Plant, which has now been dismantled, was situated on the side of Basin bridge opposite to the railway station. Diesel pipes are laid from Chennai Port to Basin Bridge for fuel power of the plant. The Madras Boating Club operates rowing events in this neighbourhood.

Seven Wells is a neighbourhood in Chennai district of Tamil Nadu State in peninsular India. Its name was derived from the seven number of wells, dug out for clean drinking water and supplied to Fort, during the British period in Chennai. The seven wells were ordered to dig by Francis Whyte Ellis, an Englishman, who was an official of the East India Company, later became Collector of 'Madras' (renamed and called as Chennai nowadays). Seven Wells constitute Seven Wells North [Seven Wells North is located at an altitude of 33 m above the mean sea level with the geographical coordinates of 13°06'11.5"N 80.16'53.8"E (i.e. 13.103200°N 80.281600°E)] and Seven Wells South [Seven Wells South is located at an altitude of 33 m above the mean sea level with the geographical coordinates of 13°05'46.0"N 80°16'53.8"E (i.e. 13.096100°N 80.281600°E)]. Out of the seven wells dug, only two are in use nowadays. This place was earlier called as Peddanaikenpet. Seven Wells is a crowded place of residents and businesses.

Sir Theagaraya College Metro station is a Metro railway station on Line 1 Extension of the Chennai Metro. The station is one of the 26 stations along the Blue Line (Chennai Metro) of the Chennai Metro. The station will serve the neighbourhoods of Old Washermanpet and other northern suburbs of Chennai.
