Kondithope is a locality in George Town, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It has an average elevation of nine metres above the sea level.

Seven Wells is a neighbourhood in Chennai district of Tamil Nadu State in peninsular India. Its name was derived from the seven number of wells, dug out for clean drinking water and supplied to Fort, during the British period in Chennai. The seven wells were ordered to dig by Francis Whyte Ellis, an Englishman, who was an official of the East India Company, later became Collector of 'Madras' (renamed and called as Chennai nowadays). Seven Wells constitute Seven Wells North [Seven Wells North is located at an altitude of 33 m above the mean sea level with the geographical coordinates of 13°06'11.5"N 80.16'53.8"E (i.e. 13.103200°N 80.281600°E)] and Seven Wells South [Seven Wells South is located at an altitude of 33 m above the mean sea level with the geographical coordinates of 13°05'46.0"N 80°16'53.8"E (i.e. 13.096100°N 80.281600°E)]. Out of the seven wells dug, only two are in use nowadays. This place was earlier called as Peddanaikenpet. Seven Wells is a crowded place of residents and businesses.

The Government Central Press in Chennai houses the stationery and printing department of the Tamil Nadu government, undertaking the printing works of the state government and maintenance of government records. Presently, it has eight branch presses and stationery stores functioning under its control. In 2017, the department had 1,646 employees, including 433 women.

Salt Cotaurs is a neighbourhood in Chennai, India. It is located on the bank of the Buckingham Canal, north of Chennai Central railway station, between the Elephant Gate Bridge Road and Basin Bridge railway station. It is well known for its railway goods yard owned by Southern Railway. The Lost Property Office (LPO) of the Southern Railway (Chennai Division) is also located here. Basin Bridge Junction is a station on the Chennai Suburban Railway and serves the locality of Basin Bridge, the confluence on the Otteri Nullah and Buckingham Canal, in Chennai, India. The station is located at the southern end of the 'diamond' junction in Chennai, where all the lines of the Chennai Suburban Railway meet. It is the first station after Chennai Central. At this station, the line divides into three: one going towards Avadi and Arakkonam, the other towards Ennore and Gummidipoondi, and the third towards Chennai Beach and Chennai Egmore. Thus, the station acts as the entry point to Chennai Central terminus where inbound trains from all the three lines are stopped before assigning a platform at Chennai Central. It also contains a railway maintenance shed with 19 pit-lines, each measuring 3-ft deep to accommodate about 24 coaches. The station has an elevation of 7 m above sea level. GMR Vasavi Diesel Power Plant, which has now been dismantled, was situated on the side of Basin bridge opposite to the railway station. Diesel pipes are laid from Chennai Port to Basin Bridge for fuel power of the plant. The Madras Boating Club operates rowing events in this neighbourhood.

Vallalar Nagar is a neighbourhood in Chennai, India. Vallalar nagar is one of the important place in North Chennai. It is also called popularly as Mint, since the Madras treasury and mint was located here. The nearest railway station is Washermanpet railway station.

GMR Vasavi Diesel Power Plant, owned by GMR Power Corporation Limited, was a private-owned power plant located in Basin Bridge, Chennai. It was a 200-MW LSHS (low sulphur heavy stock) fuel (processed from the residue of indigenous crude) power plant of the GMR Group. The plant was based on two-stroke diesel engine technology from MAN B&W, Germany. It was the state's first plant commissioned by the private sector. The plant was decommissioned in 2018.

Elephant Gate is a neighbourhood in Chennai district of Tamil Nadu state in the peninsular India. It is located at an altitude of about 33 m above the mean sea level with the geographical coordinates of 13°05′28.8″N 80°16′42.5″E (i.e., 13.091345°N, 80.278475°E). George Town, Royapuram, Kondithope, Mannadi Vannarapettai, Tondiarpet, Sowcarpet, Vallalar Nagar, Basin bridge and Kasimedu are some of the important neighbourhoods of Elephant Gate. Elephant Gate is one of the areas where the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, K. Kamaraj, delivered a speech in the year 1959. There is a police station in Elephant Gate.There existed a bridge named Elephant Gate bridge, 89 years old, in between Basin Bridge railway station and Chennai Central railway station above the railway tracks. Near about 10,000 vehicles, during peak hours, crossed this bridge. Due to the weakness of the bridge and to decongest the traffic, the bridge was demolished; and a new bridge, with the length of about 156.12 m is being constructed. The construction works are carried out by the Greater Chennai Corporation and Southern Railway, Chennai division. The cost of the project is about ₹30 crore and is equally shared by Greater Chennai Corporation and Southern Railway.Ranganathaswamy Devasthanam Temple and Vaikunta Perumal & Dharmarajar Devasthanam Temple are a few important temples in Elephant Gate area.

Basin Bridge Gas Turbine Power Station is a state-owned gas fuel-based power plant located in Basin Bridge, Chennai. It has a capacity of 120 MW and is operated by the Tamil Nadu State Electricity Board.

Kandaswami Temple (Tamil: கந்த சுவாமி கோவில்) is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Murugan, located in the Parry's corner (Old: George Town) neighbourhood of Chennai city, in Tamil Nadu, India. It is also called 'Mutthu Kumāra Swāmi deva sthānam' (Tamil: முத்து குமார சுவாமி ஸ்தானம்) and popularly known as Kandha kottam (Tamil: கந்த கோட்டம்). It is managed by the Tamil Nadu Hindu religious and charitable endowments department of the government of Tamil Nadu. The Kandha kottam temple has associated educational institutions for music and dance classes; primary and high schools; and a college, in various locations. The Kandha kottam temple also performs social welfare initiatives like free medical clinics and free pharmacies.
