The Art Institute of California – San Diego was a for-profit art school in San Diego, California. It was briefly operated as a non-profit institution before it closed in 2019. The school was one of a number of Art Institutes, a franchise of for-profit art colleges with many branches in North America, owned and operated by Education Management Corporation. EDMC owned the college from 2000 until 2017, when, facing significant financial problems and declining enrollment, the company sold the Art Institute of California – San Diego, along with 30 other Art Institute schools, to Dream Center Education, a Los Angeles-based Pentecostal organization. Dream Center permanently closed the San Diego campus location on March 8, 2019.

Hazard Center is a station on San Diego Trolley's Green Line. The street-level station has side platforms. It is located near the intersection of Hazard Center Drive at Frazee Road. The station is located across the street from the Hazard Center development and serves as a park and ride center, with spaces available in the lower portion of the adjacent garage. This stop is located in the densely populated Mission Valley West neighborhood. Prior to July 2005, this station was served by the Blue Line until service between Old Town Transit Center and Mission San Diego was replaced by the Green Line upon its introduction in conjunction with the opening of the Mission Valley East extension.

Westgate Park was a baseball stadium located in San Diego, California. The ballpark was home to the San Diego Padres of the Pacific Coast League from 1958 to 1967. The ballpark was located in the largely undeveloped Mission Valley region of San Diego. The location was on Friars Road at State Route 395 (now State Route 163), in the northeast corner of what is now the Fashion Valley Mall.Westgate was built to replace the deteriorating Lane Field, where the minor-league Padres had played since 1936. Constructed for $1 million in private funds by Padres owner C. Arnholt Smith, Westgate was a modern stadium with a capacity of 8,268 fans, with an eye to be expanded to major league size (up to 40,000) if necessary. In 1958 when it opened, "Not even Yankee Stadium or Boston's Fenway Park can surpass the comforts and conveniences of the Padres' new home. ... This is a real ballpark, built for the game of baseball, a ballpark in which the city of San Diego can take great pride." It was named for the Westgate-California Tuna Packing Corporation.The first Padres games played in Westgate were on April 28, 1958, a day-night doubleheader versus the Phoenix Giants. The afternoon game attracted 4,619 fans, while the nightcap attracted 7,129 fans. However, the American Football League's San Diego Chargers were demanding a new stadium to replace Balboa Stadium, a structure dating from about 1915. With major league baseball soon to arrive, the city decided to build a single, multi-purpose stadium for both baseball and football. The new facility was initially called San Diego Stadium. This ended the possibility of expansion for Westgate. The minor league Padres played the 1968 season in the cavernous (by PCL standards) new stadium, knowing they were a lame duck, with the major league San Diego Padres set to begin play the next year. Plans for Fashion Valley Mall were unveiled in December 1967, and Westgate was razed by 1969 to make room.

Birdland is a neighborhood in San Diego, California. It is located between California State Route 163, Interstate 805 and Mission Valley. Most of the streets in the area are named after different bird species, hence the name of the community. Birdland should not be confused with Bird Rock, a neighborhood of La Jolla, nor with the area of Mission Hills where the streets are also named for birds. Although identified as a separate community, Birdland is within the city of San Diego’s Serra Mesa Planning Area. Birdland is located in City Council District 7 and is currently represented by Councilmember Scott Sherman. Most of Birdland was developed in the late 1950s and early 1960s. In planning documents, the area is identified as "El Dorado." While much of the neighborhood consists of single-family homes, there are also three large apartment communities. Linda Vista (Spanish for "Pretty View") is a community in San Diego, California, United States. Located east of Mission Bay, north of Mission Valley, and south-east of Tecolote Canyon, it lies on a mesa overlooking Mission Valley to the south and Mission Bay and the Pacific Ocean to the west. It is also home to the University of San Diego. Linda Vista is divided between two City Council districts, with Councilmember Raul Campillo representing the majority of the neighborhood that lies in District 7 and Councilmember Jennifer Campbell representing the portion immediately surrounding the University of San Diego that lies in District 2.

Fashion Valley (also referred to Fashion Valley Mall) is an upscale, open-air shopping mall in Mission Valley in San Diego, California. The shopping center has 1,720,533 sq ft (159,842.7 m2) of leasable floor area, making it the largest mall in San Diego and one of the largest in California. It is managed by the 50% owner Simon Property Group.

Civita is a master-planned community in the Mission Valley area of the city of San Diego, San Diego County, United States. Located on a former quarry site, the urban-style, sustainable, transit-oriented 230-acre (93 ha) village is organized around a 14.3-acre (5.8 ha) community park that cascades down the terraced property.Civita development plans call for 60 to 70 acres of parks and open space, 4,780 residences (including approximately 478 affordable units), an approximately 480,000-square-foot retail center, and 420,000 square feet for an office/business campus.The Civita project is budgeted at $2 billion and being developed by Sudberry Properties, in partnership with the Grant family, which has operated the former quarry since 1937.

Mission Valley (formerly known as Mission Valley Center, Westfield Shoppingtown Mission Valley, and Westfield Mission Valley) is a retail complex consisting of a traditional open-air shopping mall owned by Real Capital Solutions, and a power center owned by Sunbelt Investment Holdings Inc., in Mission Valley, San Diego. The Mission Valley East was managed by the Dallas-based Centennial. Anchor stores include Macy's Home Furniture, Michaels, Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Nordstrom Rack. There is 1 vacant anchor store that was once Macy's. The power center across Mission Center Road known as Westfield Mission Valley West is anchored by big box retailers like DSW Shoes, West Elm, Old Navy, Trader Joe's and Marshalls.

Mission Valley is a wide river valley trending east–west in San Diego, California, United States, through which the San Diego River flows to the Pacific Ocean. For planning purposes the city of San Diego divides it into two neighborhoods: Mission Valley East and Mission Valley West.Mission Valley was the site of the first Spanish settlement in California, established in 1769.Mission Valley currently serves as an important shopping and entertainment center for San Diego. Fashion Valley Transit Center is an elevated station on the Green Line of the San Diego Trolley system. It is located at the southwest corner of the Fashion Valley Mall, after which the station is named. Below the station platform is a large bus plaza served by several MTS bus routes. The station has a 63 space park and ride lot.This station opened on November 23, 1997 as part of the Blue Line Mission Valley Line extension to Mission San Diego station. Blue Line service to this station was replaced by the Green Line on July 10, 2005 as part of the Mission Valley East extension. Before the opening of the Mission Valley East extension, this station was rebuilt to raise the platform to accommodate the new low-floor trolley vehicles, giving passengers level access to trains without using steps or a wheelchair lift.
