Surrey Hills is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 11 km east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the Cities of Boroondara and Whitehorse local government areas. Surrey Hills recorded a population of 13,655 at the 2021 census.Surrey Hills was settled in the late 19th century and evolved with slightly smaller blocks and slightly simpler housing than its neighbour Canterbury. Most of Surrey Hills' streets are lined with now-mature European trees, mostly plane and pin oak. It is bordered by Elgar Road in the east, Riversdale Road in the south, Highfield Road in the west and Whitehorse Road in the north.

It serves the eastern Melbourne suburb of Mont Albert, and it opened on 11 August 1890.Boom barriers replaced hand gates at the Mont Albert Road level crossing, located nearby in the Flinders Street (Up) direction, in 1963.Track amplification works resulted in the Box Hill bound platform being rebuilt and converted to an island platform in the 1960s. Services on the third track from East Camberwell were extended though the station to Box Hill in December 1971.In 2020, it was announced that the level crossings at Union and Mont Albert Roads would be fast-tracked for removal by 2023. The project will involve the closure of both Mont Albert and nearby Surrey Hills station, with a new Union Station between the two current stations. The current station buildings will be refurbished and relocated within the precinct for community use. Early construction is expected to begin in 2021.
