Pine Tree High School

Greggton was an unincorporated community in Gregg County, located in the U.S. state of Texas. The community was originally founded in 1873 under the name "Willow Springs" as a stop on the Texas and Pacific Railway. Greggton's main thoroughfare would be designated as part of U.S. Highway 80 upon its establishment in 1926.The East Texas Oil Boom of the early 1930s saw the town grow. A post office was established in November 1932 and the name changed to "Greggton" around the same time. In 1920, the town had a population of 180. By 1936, the population had grown to 1,500 with 125 businesses and by 1949, the population had grown to 2,350. By the 1950s, the town had its own movie theater called "The Ritz"The town was annexed to Longview in December 1959, with postal services transferred on May 31, 1960.Today, the Pine Tree Independent School District serves the parts of Longview that were once Greggton.

Pine Tree ISD serves western portions of Longview, including areas that were once Greggton, and small section of the neighboring city of White Oak. In 2018, the school district was rated "Met Standard" for district, Primary, Parkway Elementary, Birch Elementary, Middle School, Junior High, High School and ExCEL (alternative). Distinction designations: Pine Tree High School - Academic Achievement in Science and Parkway Elementary - Academic Achievement in ELA/Reading and Academic Achievement in Mathematics.

Longview is a city in and county seat of Gregg County, Texas, United States. Longview is located in East Texas, where Interstate 20 and U.S. highways 80 and 259 converge just north of the Sabine River. According to the 2020 U.S. census, the city had a population of 81,638. Longview is the principal city of the Longview metropolitan statistical area, comprising Gregg, Upshur, and Rusk counties. The population of the metropolitan area as of 2021 census estimates was 287,858.Longview was established in 1870 in what was at the time southern Upshur County; the town incorporated in 1871. After Gregg County was created in 1873, Longview was voted the county seat. Today, Longview is considered a major hub city for the region, as is the nearby city of Tyler. Companies with significant presence in Longview include Eastman Chemical, Trinity Rail Group, AAON Coil Products, and Komatsu Mining, Dollar General and Old Navy/GAP. Colleges and universities in the area include LeTourneau University, Kilgore College, and the University of Texas at Tyler's Longview University Center.

Gregg County is a county located in the eastern part of the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 124,239. Its county seat is Longview. The county is named after John Gregg, a Confederate general killed in action during the American Civil War.Gregg County is part of the Longview, Texas metropolitan area and the Longview–Marshall, Texas combined statistical area. Discovery of oil near Kilgore in October 1930 was the beginning of an oil boom that attracted workers to the county and expanded the population by more than 500% by 1940, according to the census. By that time, the economy had stabilized, but the East Texas Oil Field, extending into five counties, has continued to be important to the county and region's economy.

Longview High School (colloquially known as LHS) is a public high school located in the city of Longview, Texas, in Gregg County, United States and classified as a 6A school by the UIL. It is a part of the Longview Independent School District located in eastern Gregg County. The school was founded in 1874 as the Longview Male and Female Institute, and the first permanent structure was established in 1885. In 2017, the school earned 7-out-of-7 distinctions from the Texas Education Agency.

The Great Texas Balloon Race is a hot air balloon festival held each summer near the City of Longview, Texas normally held in the area nearby the East Texas Regional Airport (Also known as the Gregg County Airport). Established in 1978, it's billed as "The longest running hot-air balloon event in Texas." The 2020 Great Texas Balloon Race was cancelled as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, but the race was held on 2021 Great Texas Balloon Race.

Spring Hill was an unincorporated community in Gregg County, Texas, United States. Founded sometime before 1900, the town became the site of many oil field camps during the oil boom of the 1930s. Most oil workers would leave by the end of the decade. By 1940, Spring Hill had a population of 140, a consolidated school district, and a number of businesses. By 1984, the population stood at 1,458 due in part to development in nearby Longview. Spring Hill was annexed to Longview on October 7, 1983. Spring Hill still retains its own school district, the Spring Hill Independent School District.
