Gregg County, Texas

Greggton was an unincorporated community in Gregg County, located in the U.S. state of Texas. The community was originally founded in 1873 under the name "Willow Springs" as a stop on the Texas and Pacific Railway. Greggton's main thoroughfare would be designated as part of U.S. Highway 80 upon its establishment in 1926.The East Texas Oil Boom of the early 1930s saw the town grow. A post office was established in November 1932 and the name changed to "Greggton" around the same time. In 1920, the town had a population of 180. By 1936, the population had grown to 1,500 with 125 businesses and by 1949, the population had grown to 2,350. By the 1950s, the town had its own movie theater called "The Ritz"The town was annexed to Longview in December 1959, with postal services transferred on May 31, 1960.Today, the Pine Tree Independent School District serves the parts of Longview that were once Greggton.

Pine Tree High School is a suburban public high school located in the city of Longview, Texas, in Gregg County, United States and classified as a 5A school by the University Interscholastic League (UIL). It is a part of the Pine Tree Independent School District located in west central Gregg County. In 2013, the school was rated "Met Standard" by the Texas Education Agency.

Longview is a city in and county seat of Gregg County, Texas, United States. Longview is located in East Texas, where Interstate 20 and U.S. highways 80 and 259 converge just north of the Sabine River. According to the 2020 U.S. census, the city had a population of 81,638. Longview is the principal city of the Longview metropolitan statistical area, comprising Gregg, Upshur, and Rusk counties. The population of the metropolitan area as of 2021 census estimates was 287,858.Longview was established in 1870 in what was at the time southern Upshur County; the town incorporated in 1871. After Gregg County was created in 1873, Longview was voted the county seat. Today, Longview is considered a major hub city for the region, as is the nearby city of Tyler. Companies with significant presence in Longview include Eastman Chemical, Trinity Rail Group, AAON Coil Products, and Komatsu Mining, Dollar General and Old Navy/GAP. Colleges and universities in the area include LeTourneau University, Kilgore College, and the University of Texas at Tyler's Longview University Center.

White Oak is a city in Gregg County, Texas, United States. It was incorporated in 1960. The population was 6,225 as of 2020.

The Great Texas Balloon Race is a hot air balloon festival held each summer near the City of Longview, Texas normally held in the area nearby the East Texas Regional Airport (Also known as the Gregg County Airport). Established in 1978, it's billed as "The longest running hot-air balloon event in Texas." The 2020 Great Texas Balloon Race was cancelled as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, but the race was held on 2021 Great Texas Balloon Race.

White Oak High School is a public high school located in the city of White Oak, Texas, in Gregg County, United States and classified as a 3A school by the UIL. It is a part of the White Oak Independent School District located in west central Gregg County. In 2015, the school was rated "Met Standard" by the Texas Education Agency.

KDOK (1240 AM) is a terrestrial radio station licensed to Kilgore, Texas, United States, paired with an FM translator, and simulcast with sister station 1490 KYZS, serving the Tyler-Longview market with a Classic hits format. KDOK signed on the air in 1936 as KOCA, which represented the slogan "Kilgore - Oil Capital of America". The facility is the third oldest licensed broadcast station in East Texas, surpassed only by its broadcast partner 1490 KYZS Tyler, signing on in 1931, and 1370 KFRO Longview in 1935.

LeTourneau University (LETU) is a private, interdenominational evangelical Christian university in Longview, Texas. Founded as LeTourneau Technical Institute in February 1946 by R. G. LeTourneau with his wife, Evelyn, the school initially educated veterans returning from World War II. Total annual enrollment is nearly 3,000.

Conrad Vernon Field is a baseball venue located in Longview, Texas, and home to the LeTourneau Yellow Jackets baseball program of the American Southwest Conference. The ballpark holds a capacity of 200.

Spring Hill was an unincorporated community in Gregg County, Texas, United States. Founded sometime before 1900, the town became the site of many oil field camps during the oil boom of the 1930s. Most oil workers would leave by the end of the decade. By 1940, Spring Hill had a population of 140, a consolidated school district, and a number of businesses. By 1984, the population stood at 1,458 due in part to development in nearby Longview. Spring Hill was annexed to Longview on October 7, 1983. Spring Hill still retains its own school district, the Spring Hill Independent School District.

Longview Mall is an enclosed shopping mall in Longview, Texas. Opened in 1978, it features Dillard's, JCPenney, Dick's Sporting Goods, Conn's Home Plus, and HomeGoods as its anchor stores.
