Longview is a city in and county seat of Gregg County, Texas, United States. Longview is located in East Texas, where Interstate 20 and U.S. highways 80 and 259 converge just north of the Sabine River. According to the 2020 U.S. census, the city had a population of 81,638. Longview is the principal city of the Longview metropolitan statistical area, comprising Gregg, Upshur, and Rusk counties. The population of the metropolitan area as of 2021 census estimates was 287,858.Longview was established in 1870 in what was at the time southern Upshur County; the town incorporated in 1871. After Gregg County was created in 1873, Longview was voted the county seat. Today, Longview is considered a major hub city for the region, as is the nearby city of Tyler. Companies with significant presence in Longview include Eastman Chemical, Trinity Rail Group, AAON Coil Products, and Komatsu Mining, Dollar General and Old Navy/GAP. Colleges and universities in the area include LeTourneau University, Kilgore College, and the University of Texas at Tyler's Longview University Center.

Judson is an unincorporated community in Gregg County, Texas, United States. According to the Handbook of Texas, the community had an estimated population of 650 in 2000. It is part of the Longview, Texas Metropolitan Statistical Area. Judson is located along Spur 502 (Judson Rd) in northern Gregg County, several miles north of Longview.Judson has a post office with the ZIP code 75660. Public education in the community is provided by the Longview Independent School District.

The Great Texas Balloon Race is a hot air balloon festival held each summer near the City of Longview, Texas normally held in the area nearby the East Texas Regional Airport (Also known as the Gregg County Airport). Established in 1978, it's billed as "The longest running hot-air balloon event in Texas." The 2020 Great Texas Balloon Race was cancelled as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, but the race was held on 2021 Great Texas Balloon Race.

Longview station is a train station in Longview, Texas, United States. It is served by Amtrak and was originally built by the Texas & Pacific Railway. The Longview station also serves as the train-bus transfer point for passengers destined to two Amtrak Thruway motorcoach routes. One route provides Texas Eagle connecting service to Nacogdoches, Houston and Galveston, Texas; the other route provides connecting nonstop service between Longview and Shreveport, Louisiana. Opened in 1940, the red brick depot replaced an 1874 structure. Its Colonial Revival style, popular in the early 20th century, includes stylized quoins, brick cornice and grey stone trim used to highlight the coping, keystones and lintels. In its heyday, it ran several Missouri Pacific and Texas & Pacific trains a day, notably those companies' original Texas Eagle (ended, 1971), which west and south of Longview split into three different sections for different parts of Texas. Until 1963 the Louisiana Eagle went east to Shreveport and New Orleans. A successor night train and a successor day train ran on the route to New Orleans as late as 1968.In early 2013, the city broke ground on a $2.2 million project to transform the depot into a multimodal transportation center. During the renovation, workers installed new dormers and the open-air waiting room was recreated. The project was largely funded through a Transportation Enhancement grant from the Federal Highway Administration, matched by city funds.

Spring Hill was an unincorporated community in Gregg County, Texas, United States. Founded sometime before 1900, the town became the site of many oil field camps during the oil boom of the 1930s. Most oil workers would leave by the end of the decade. By 1940, Spring Hill had a population of 140, a consolidated school district, and a number of businesses. By 1984, the population stood at 1,458 due in part to development in nearby Longview. Spring Hill was annexed to Longview on October 7, 1983. Spring Hill still retains its own school district, the Spring Hill Independent School District.
