Schloss Gobelsburg is a winery and castle in the Kamptal wine growing region in Lower Austria, some 50 miles to the north west of Vienna. The estate produces both red and white wines. Wine production on the estate dates to 1171; it is the oldest winery in the Danube region. The structure is a listed building. Gobelsburg specializes in Rieslings produced using traditional methods. Karen MacNeil calls the winery "one of the great wine estates of the world."

Schloss Wasserhof is a privately owned building in Gneixendorf, near Krems an der Donau in Lower Austria. It is known particularly as the property in the early 19th century of Nikolaus Johann van Beethoven, brother of Ludwig van Beethoven; the composer stayed here at one time.

The Beethoven House (Beethoven-Haus) is a museum in the village of Gneixendorf near Krems an der Donau in Austria. It is a former residence of Ludwig van Beethoven and it is part of the cultural heritage of Austria. The residence currently features several rooms furnished as a private museum The museum offers tours by appointment. The rooms where Van Beethoven resided are on the second floor. It concerns four chamber, a large hallway and an adjoined piano chamber. The rooms have been decorated with various mementos. Also there are a hearth and lamps which originate from the composer's lifetime. In the garden, there is a large rock featuring a copper portrait of Van Beethoven. In this residence he composed the new final movement of his String Quartet No. 13 (Beethoven) (opus 130). He had initially intended the Große Fuge to be the final movement, which was later renamed opus 133.The house was owned by his brother. Van Beethoven came here with his nephew and ward. His nephew had attempted suicide on 6 August 1826 and he had spent the weeks before their arrival in a hospital. Van Beethoven accepted his brother's invitation to stay over, and resided in the house between 25 September and 2 November 1826. The house is currently a part of the cultural heritage of Austria.

Stratzing is a town in the district of Krems-Land in the Austrian state of Lower Austria.

Gneixendorf is a village near Krems in Lower Austria. It was the location of Stalag XVII-B, the setting of the Billy Wilder film Stalag 17. The stone-age pre-history, the history of Christian orders settlement and rule and their stately renaissance buildings, followed by a manorial history, particularly of the van Beethoven and von Schweitzer families between 1820 and 1935 and the World War II break with the STALAG XVII B Prisoner-of-War camp 1940-1945 are all comprehensively documented by "Chronik von Gneixendorf", published in 2009 by Verschoenerungsverein Gneixendorf. See also Krems-Gneixendorf. Gneixendorf has been incorporated with the town of Krems since 1968. The composer Ludwig van Beethoven spent the period September–December 1826 in Gneixendorf as the guest of his younger brother Johann, who had acquired Schloss Wasserhof (see A. Thayer, "Life of Beethoven", Princeton University Press (1964)).

Lengenfeld is a town in the district of Krems-Land in the Austrian state of Lower Austria.

Steiner Tor is a preserved gate, originally built in the late 15th century but refashioned in the Baroque style in the city of Krems an der Donau, in the Wachau valley of Austria. It is considered the symbol of the city. Until the last third of the 19th century, the city of Krems was surrounded by a wall. This was systematically razed, and three gates were also removed. From 2005, celebrating the 700-year anniversary of the city rights, the Steiner Tor was restored as much to its original as possible. Outside the portal are towers flanking both sides, which, like the lower floor of the gate, date from the late Middle Ages. On the right of the archway is a small stone coat of arms mentioning Emperor Friedrich III, and the year 1480 in Roman numerals. This is believed to date the restoration of the fortifications that had become necessary because of the destruction wrought by Hungarian troops in 1477. The tower building dates from much more recently, and dates to the Baroque period during the reign of Maria Theresa, 1756. Outside the gate, the Steiner Tor was originally threatened by flooding from the Danube. On the inner side of the stone door is a mounted memorial which commemorates such a disaster in 1573. In the immediate vicinity of the Steiner Tor is a shopping centre. On 1 February 1960, Österreichische Post issued a definitive stamp with a value of 3.40 Schillings on a postage stamp.
