The Dolphin is a Grade II listed public house and nightclub at 165 Mare Street, Hackney Central in the London Borough of Hackney, London.It is on the Campaign for Real Ale's National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors.It was built about 1850.In mid 2013 the pub was at risk of closure after Hackney police claimed 92 reports of thefts between June 2012 and June 2013. An online petition was created to save the venue, which as of 16 September 2013 had received 2678 signatures and a social media campaign on Twitter using the hashtag #SaveTheDolphin attracted support from presenter Caroline Flack and even telecoms company O2. Actor Michael Fassbender also gave his support to the petition sharing that John Maclean's short film Pitch Black Heist, in which he starred, had scenes filmed at the pub.In September 2013, Hackney Council stripped the pub of its 4 am late licence after local police applied for a review citing 160 crimes were reported at the venue between 2010 and 2013, including a firearm incident and rising thefts. However a year later in September 2014, the pub regained its 4 am weekend licence following a decision at Stratford magistrates court, with Hackney Council's chair of licensing councillor Emma Plouviez saying: "Managers at The Dolphin have made efforts to tackle the disproportionately high levels of theft at the pub."In 2021, the venue's licence was suspended after the police raised concerns about their response to a serious assault on Friday, October 15th where a man was hit with a glass and subsequently required hospital treatment.

South Hackney is an area of Hackney in London, England within the Borough of Hackney. It is about 4.2 miles (6.8 km) northeast of Charing Cross. The Mossbourne Victoria Park Academy on the corner of Victoria Park Road and Lammas Walk utilises the buildings of the former French Hospital (La Providence), a home for elderly Huguenots. The French Hospital was built in the 1860s in the style of a French-Flemish chateau, designed by Robert Lewis Roumieu. The area just south of Well Street features social housing such as the Kingshold and Shore Estates. The former New Kingshold Estate (built 1966, demolished 1996) was subject of a 1990 Channel 4 documentary Summer On The Estate highlighting some of the problems on the estate with crime and disrepair, and residents fight to improve it. A follow-up series aired in 1995 as the two tower blocks on the estate, Thornhill Point and Halston Point were demolished in July 1995.

The Urswick School is a co-educational secondary school and sixth form located in the Hackney Central area of the London Borough of Hackney, London.The school is named after Revd Christopher Urswick, Rector of Hackney from 1502 to 1522, and a close friend of King Henry VII and his mother, Lady Margaret Beaufort, a great benefactress of learning.

The London School of Architecture, known as the LSA, is a small independent higher education provider based in London. It is England's first independent school of architecture since the Architectural Association opened in 1847.

The Bethnal Green mulberry tree is an ancient black mulberry tree, in the grounds of the former London Chest Hospital, at Bethnal Green in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. Many British mulberry trees have associations with famous people, and while evidence sometimes survives to confirm these associations, this is not always the case. The Bethnal Green mulberry is the subject of an unconfirmed tradition linking it to the ill-famed Bishop Bonner - known as Bloody Bonner. The exact age of the tree is unknown but is thought to be at least 200 years old and may be over 400 years old making it the oldest tree in the East End. If the Bishop Bonner tradition is correct it may be around 500 years old and the oldest black mulberry in the United Kingdom. From 2017-2021 the tree was the subject of a successful community campaign to resist a developer application to move the tree, an action the campaigners argued risked the death of the tree.

Auto Italia is an artist-run project and studio in Bethnal Green, London, England. It commissions and produces new artwork, collaborating directly with emerging artists. Throughout its history, Auto Italia’s work has taken many forms, ranging from collaborative public programming in temporary spaces, commissions and presentations in institutions and galleries, and the production of collaborative projects through working online. This work has been shown nationally and internationally at Tate Modern and Institute of Contemporary Arts in London; KW Institute for Contemporary Art and abc – art berlin contemporary in Berlin; Artissima LIDO in Turin; Hessel Museum in New York; Künstlerhaus Bremen and Firstdraft in Sydney amongst others.

London Fields is a London Overground station on the Lea Valley Lines, serving the district of London Fields in the London Borough of Hackney, east London. It is 2 miles 35 chains (3.9 km) down-line from London Liverpool Street and is situated between Cambridge Heath and Hackney Downs. Its three-letter station code is LOF and it is in Travelcard zone 2.

London Fields Brewery is a brewery in the London Fields area of Hackney, East London, in the United Kingdom. It was founded in 2011 as the first commercial brewery to open in Hackney since the 19th century. In December 2014, the company fell into trouble following the arrest of co-founder Julian de Vere Whiteway-Wilkinson, on suspicion of tax evasion. In 2017, London Fields Brewery was purchased in a joint-venture by Brooklyn Brewery and Carlsberg UK with plans to bring brewing back onsite.

Festifeel is an annual music festival held to raise money for breast cancer awareness. The festival is organised by the English breast cancer charity CoppaFeel. It describes itself as "Britain's only boutique music festival with boobs in mind".

Kate MacGarry is an eponymous contemporary art gallery located in London. It first opened in November 2002 on Redchurch Street in London's East End. From April 2007 to April 2011 the gallery was located on Vyner Street, and in May 2011 the gallery moved back to its roots on Old Nichol Street, close to Redchurch Street in Shoreditch.The gallery represents several international artists including Matt Bryans, Marcus Coates, Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard, Samson Kambalu, Dr Lakra, 2008 John Moores 25 Contemporary Painting Prize winner Peter McDonald, Goshka Macuga, Ben Rivers Francis Upritchard, and 2019 Turner prize nominee Helen Cammock. Kambalu and Upritchard were named among the 50 most exciting artists in Europe in 2016. The gallery's booth, which showcased Goshka Macuga's Preparatory Notes for a Chicago Comedy was named one of the top ten at Frieze Art Fair 2014.In 2020, the gallery was one of the founding members of the Gallery Climate Coalition.

Dent-de-Leone is a small independent publisher located in London, distinctive for its collaboration directly with artists and designers to produce its books. It was founded by Martino Gamper, Kajsa Ståhl and Maki Suzuki (both from design collective Åbäke) in 2004 with the publication of a book by Gamper. The publisher produces an irregular number of books per year, as well as limited editions and multiples. Dent-De-Leone has participated in numerous art book fairs including the Whitechapel Art Book Fair, Publish And Be Damned and the Motto art book fair. All of its publications are designed by Åbäke.

The London Chest Hospital, located in Bethnal Green in London, adjacent to Victoria Park, was a hospital with a national reputation for treatment of cardiac and pulmonary disease. Since 1999 it had been run by the Barts Health NHS Trust. It closed on 17 April 2015 as part of the creation of the Barts Heart Centre at St Bartholomew's Hospital, by consolidation of services from the London Chest Hospital and The Heart Hospital, part of University College London Hospital.
