Saddle Mountain (Clatsop County, Oregon)

Saddle Mountain State Natural Area is a state park in northwest Oregon. It is located in the Northern Oregon Coast Range in central Clatsop County, about 20 miles (32 km) by road from Seaside. A 2.5-mile (4.0 km) long hiking trail climbs to the top of Saddle Mountain, which is located in the park. On clear days, the Pacific Ocean, Columbia River mouth and several of the Cascade mountains in Washington and Oregon can be seen from the summit.

Clatsop County () is one of the 36 counties in the U.S. state of Oregon. As of the 2020 census, the population was 41,072. The county seat is Astoria. The county is named for the Clatsop tribe of Native Americans, who lived along the coast of the Pacific Ocean prior to European settlement. Clatsop County comprises the Astoria, OR Micropolitan Statistical Area, or Sunset Empire, and is located in Northwest Oregon.

Fishhawk Falls, is a waterfall located along the Fishhawk Creek in Clatsop County, in the U.S. state of Oregon. It totals 72 feet fall in one wide cascade and is the centerpiece attraction of the Lee Wooden Fishhawk Falls trailhead and Recreation Site. Fishhawk Falls is located a mile from the Jewell Meadows Wildlife Area off of Highway 202 between Jewell and Astoria. The Fishhawk Falls runs over exposed stacked basalt columns making a dike that is of identical composition to the Columbia River basalt. It forms part of a basalt flow, like those at Otter Rock and Hug Point, that rank among the longest on earth, approximately 300 miles from eastern Oregon and Washington.

Youngs River Falls is a 54-foot (16 m) tall waterfall on the Youngs River in central Clatsop County, northwestern Oregon, United States. They are located about 10 miles (16 km) south of Astoria.

Olney is an unincorporated community and former company town in Clatsop County, Oregon, United States, on Oregon Route 202 approximately eight miles south of Astoria. Its post office is assigned ZIP code 97325. The town of Olney was named after Oregon Territory Supreme Court justice Cyrus Olney, who was from Astoria.There were several logging camps near Olney, many originally only accessible by boat up the Youngs River or by Albert S. Kerry's Columbia and Nehalem River Railroad. In 1910, the Western Cooperage Company camp was established in Olney. It was run by the Tidewater Timber Company from 1923 to 1943. Western Cooperage provided company housing for its workers and in 1915 the population was 50, which was near its maximum. Olney post office was established in 1875 and ran until 1950. Today, Olney still has a general store.

The Klaskanine River is a tributary of the Youngs River, approximately 16 miles (26 km) long, in northwest Oregon in the United States. It drains a small section of the Coast Range in the extreme northwest corner of the state in the watershed of the nearby Columbia River. It rises in three short forks in the mountains in central Clatsop County, in the Clatsop State Forest north of Saddle Mountain State Natural Area. The Middle Fork joins the North Fork, which then joins the South Fork. The combined stream flows generally northwest and enters the Youngs River from the east approximately 5 miles (8 km) south of Astoria.

Melville is an unincorporated community in Clatsop County, Oregon, United States, on the Lewis and Clark River. Its post office was established in February 1891, with Wilthea S. Ingalls postmaster. The post office closed in November 1922.

Svensen is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) on the Columbia River in Clatsop County, Oregon, United States, named after early settler Peter Svensen. There was a post office in Svensen from 1895 to 1944. Since the closure of the Svensen Post Office, mail service has been provided by rural carriers of the Astoria, Oregon post office. Svensen is within the Knappa School District.

Knappa High School is a public high school near Knappa, Oregon, United States. The school is located on Old Highway 30, 12 miles east of Astoria and 90 miles from Portland, between Svensen and Knappa. The Knappa School District serves the unincorporated communities of Knappa, Svensen, Burnside and Brownsmead. Knappa High School's first class graduated in 1919. The Knappa school district has won baseball championship in 2009, 2015, 2016, and in 2017.

River Point is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Clatsop County, Oregon, United States. It was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census.The CDP is in northwestern Clatsop County, 4 miles (6 km) south of Astoria along Oregon Route 202, the Nehalem Highway. It sits on the land between two rivers, the Youngs River to the west and the Wallooskee River to the north, extending to their confluence. The Youngs River is a tidal waterway leading to Youngs Bay at Astoria and thence the Columbia River.

The Klootchy Creek County Park, or Klootchy Creek Park, is a park in the U.S. state of Oregon. It was previously home to the largest tree in the state, a Sitka spruce. In the tree's prime it was the largest Sitka Spruce in the United States. It was also the largest tree in Oregon and one of the oldest living things in the state. On December 7, 2007, there was a storm that snapped the tree about 80 feet above ground. Before the storm, it was 200 feet tall, its diameter was 17 feet, its circumference was 673 inches, and its Crown spread was 93 feet. It is estimated to be 500-700 years old.It is the first Oregon Heritage Tree. In February 2011, the Parks Department had a further 40 feet or so of the remaining snag cut off, due to concerns about decaying wood falling from the trunk and putting visitors at risk.

The Wallooskee River (also known as the Walluski River) is a tributary of the Youngs River, about 10 miles (16 km) long, in northwest Oregon in the United States. It drains a small area of the foothills of the Coast Range near the mouth of the Columbia River. The Youngs River is a tributary of the Columbia River. It rises southwest of Astoria in a northern Clatsop County at 46.108165°N 123.674857°W / 46.108165; -123.674857 (Wallooskee River source). It flows generally west in a winding course. About a mile (1.6 km) before its mouth, it receives the Little Wallooskee River from the right at 46.1423303°N 123.780417°W / 46.1423303; -123.780417 (Little Wallooskee River mouth) which flows about 2 miles (3.2 km) from its source at 46.1395532°N 123.735971°W / 46.1395532; -123.735971 (Little Wallooskee River source). The Wallooskee enters Youngs River from the east at the south end of Youngs Bay, approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) south of Astoria.
