Ashburton Learning Village

Oasis Academy Shirley Park (formerly Ashburton Community School) is a mixed all-through school located within the Ashburton Learning Village complex in the Woodside area of Croydon, Greater London, England. The school educates children of primary and secondary school age, and also has a sixth form. It is based on three sites: Shirley Road, Long Lane, Stroud Green. Originally two schools, Ashburton Secondary Modern Boys and Ashburton Secondary Modern Girls, which merged in 1971 to become Ashburton High School. At a later date, the school became Ashburton Community School and became an Academy in 2009 and was renamed Oasis Academy Shirley Park. The school is sponsored by the Oasis Trust. The academy has a partnership with local English Premier League-club Crystal Palace dating back to the former Community School. Former Shrewsbury Town winger Austin Berkley teaches at the Academy.

Addiscombe is an area of south London, England, within the London Borough of Croydon. It is located 9.1 miles (15 km) south of Charing Cross, and is situated north of Coombe and Selsdon, east of Croydon town centre, south of Woodside, and west of Shirley.

Ashburton Park is a park located in Woodside, in the London Borough of Croydon, and takes its name from nearby Ashburton. The park is located close to Woodside tram stop, where Tramlink services the park. It is on the junction of Lower Addiscombe Road and Spring Lane. The park covers an area of 18.5 acres (7.5 ha) and includes a village green, pétanque terrain, bowling green, tennis and basketball courts and a café.

Woodside was a railway station in Croydon, south London, on the Woodside and South Croydon Joint Railway. The South Eastern Railway opened the station in July 1871 to serve the nearby Croydon racecourse. A ramp from the station facilitated the loading of racehorses. The station has since been replaced by Woodside tram stop. After the racecourse closed in 1890, use of Woodside station decreased. The down bay platform fell into disuse in 1917 following the closure of the line to Selsdon. The line to Selsdon reopened upon electrification in 1935, with through services to and from London. However, there were drastic reductions in the train service during World War II, from which the line never really recovered. From October 1939 the station was served by a shuttle to and from Elmers End. Through weekday trains to London were reinstated in the spring of 1948, but traffic on the branch was in decline and a shuttle service was again instituted again in 1950, with a handful of through London services in the peak hours. The small goods yard closed in 1963. The line to Selsdon once again closed in 1983, this time permanently, and the signal box at the south end of the down platform closed in 1984. The station building, situated over the platforms at street level, was de-staffed from 1993 and boarded up. In 1996 the signal box at Addiscombe burned down and single-line working was introduced, with all trains using the down line; the London-bound platform fell into disuse. The station closed in 1997 in preparation for the construction of Tramlink. Tramlink now uses the line between Elmers End and the site of Coombe Road. Most of the previous platforms were demolished and new tram platforms constructed. Part of the London-bound platform was left to provide a pathway to the tram platforms, using stairs to the street-level building, which is abandoned. Following closure of the Addiscombe branch the trackbed has become Addiscombe Railway Park. The dismantled platform was donated to the Swanage Heritage Railway and reassembled in 2009 at Herston Halt.

Woodside tram stop is a light rail stop situated between Woodside Green and Ashburton Park in the London Borough of Croydon in the southern suburbs of London. The stop is located on the site of the former Woodside railway station of the Woodside and South Croydon Railway; the old station buildings survive, though not used by Tramlink. The tram stop has a platform on each side of the track with access to both platforms by stairs on the west side of the station building and by ramps on the east side.

Addiscombe East is a ward in the London Borough of Croydon, in London in the United Kingdom. The ward replaced the former Ashburton Ward, which covered the Ashburton area, as well as covering the main retail area of Addiscombe, the Stroud Green, Tollgate and Longheath Garden estates, and large parts of northern Shirley. The population of the former ward at the 2011 Census was 14,721.The ward currently forms part of the Croydon Central constituency, which is one of the most marginal in the country. In 2015, only 165 votes separated the Conservatives and Labour. The ward returns two councillors every four years to Croydon Council. At the 2018 London local elections Maddie Henson and Jeet Bains were elected. They were both re-elected at the 2022 London local elections.

The ward returned three councillors every four years to Croydon Council. At the 2014 London local elections Maddie Henson, Stephen Mann, and Andrew Rendle were elected to the council achieving a 9% swing. All of them were running as Labour Party candidates.

Woodside is an area in south London, in the London Borough of Croydon and the historic county of Surrey. It is between Addiscombe and South Norwood. It is south of South Norwood, west of Shirley and Monks Orchard, north of Addiscombe, and east of Selhurst.

Blackhorse Lane tram stop is a light rail stop in the London Borough of Croydon in the southern suburbs of London. The tram stop is located on a section of line which follows the trackbed of the former Woodside and South Croydon Railway, and is adjacent to the point at which that railway's branch to Addiscombe station diverged from the line between Elmers End station and Sanderstead station. Prior to the opening of Tramlink, there was no station at this site which had previously contained long-disused allotments.

Ashburton Playing Fields is a playing field located in Woodside, London. It is managed by the London Borough of Croydon. The fields are bordered by Bywood Avenue in the north, Chaucer Green in the west and Woodville Avenue in the east. Stroud Green Way backs onto the western boundary. Tramlink services for the park are Arena and Woodside. It covers an area of 49.5 acres (20 ha).Facilities include football and cricket pitches, changing rooms, and children's playground. The fields are open 24 hours per day throughout the year, although pitches and use of changing rooms have to be booked in advance.

Shirley is an area of south London, England, within the London Borough of Croydon. It lies north of Spring Park and Addington, east of Addiscombe, south of Monks Orchard and west of West Wickham, and ten miles (sixteen kilometres) south-southeast of Charing Cross. Prior to the creation of Greater London in 1965, Shirley was in the administrative county of Surrey. The Shirley area is split into Shirley proper (centred on Wickham Road), Shirley Oaks (to the north) and Upper Shirley (to the west); the suburbs of Monks Orchard and Spring Park are sometimes also considered to be sub-districts of Shirley.
