Fischbachau

Fischbachau Priory (Kloster Fischbachau) was a Benedictine monastery located in Fischbachau, Bavaria, Germany. The monastery was founded in 1087 as a priory of Hirsau Abbey against the background of the Investiture Controversy and the Hirsau Reforms, by the monks who had previously formed the small monastery founded in 1077 at Bayrischzell by Haziga of Aragon, wife of Count Otto II of Scheyern, ancestors of the Wittelsbachs. The original site at Bayrischzell was soon abandoned for unsuitability and lack of water. Nor did the monastery remain long at Fischbachau; the community moved on, for much the same reasons as before, to yet another site at the little village of Petersberg, and from there a final time to Scheyern, where they remained and which became Scheyern Abbey. A small priory or cell remained however at Fischbachau, which was from then on a priory or cell of Scheyern, centred on the church of Saint Martin. This was refurbished in about 1700 in the Rococo style, of which it remains a spectacular example. The monastic community was dissolved during secularisation in 1803, and only the church is left.

The Wendelstein Cable Car (Wendelstein-Seilbahn) is a 2,953-metre (9,688-foot) long cable car (US: aerial tramway) running from the village of Bayrischzell Osterhofen to Mount Wendelstein in the Bavarian Alps in Germany. It has a maximum speed of 10 m/s (32.8 ft/s) (36 km/h or 22.4 mph) and its travel time is 6.5 minutes. The cabins each take up to 50 passengers, and the cable car system has a transport capacity of 450 people per hour. The cable car climbs an altitude difference of 932 metres (3,058 feet). The cable car has a 50 mm (1.97 in) track rope and a 30 mm (1.18 in) haulage rope. Its engine has a maximum output of 490 hp (370 kW). It has one 75-metre (246-foot) tall pylon.

Wendelstein is a 1,838-metre-high (6,030 ft) mountain in the Bavarian Alps in South Germany. It is part of the Mangfall Mountains, the eastern part of the Bavarian Pre-Alps, and is the highest peak in the Wendelstein massif. It lies between the valleys of the Leitzach and Inn and is accessible via the Wendelstein Cable Car and the Wendelstein Rack Railway. On its northern foothills rises the Jenbach, which becomes the Kalten on its way to the River Mangfall. Local valley settlements include Bayrischzell, Brannenburg and Osterhofen.

Slyrs (German pronunciation: [ˈʃliːɐ̯s]) is a German whisky distillery in Schliersee, a small town in the Oberbayern region of Bavaria. The distillery is controlled by the Stetter family, which also operates a schnapps distillery previously used to distill Slyrs whisky.According to Andrea Stetter, one of Slyrs' managing directors, Slyrs whisky is fundamentally different from Scotch, with "... a mild, fruity taste ...", and "... can be drunk as soon as it is three years old."

The Schliersberg (also known as Rhonberg or Rohnberg) is a 1,265-metre-high (4,150 ft) mountain in the Bavarian Prealps above the village Schliersee (Miesbach district, Upper Bavaria) and Lake Schliersee. The wooded summit can be reached within a 1.5 hour hike and passes the hut Schliersbergalm, located 1,055 m above sea level, which can also be reached by a cable car since 1952.

The name derives from Lake Spitzingsee, and the human settlement is located at its eastern bank. The nearest railway station is Fischhausen-Neuhaus in Neuhaus (Schliersee municipality; 7 km). The State Route No. St2077 connects the village by road. The main economic factor is tourism (all seasons). The village is a destination for hikers and mountainbikers in the summer season. In the winter season, it is a destination for skiers. The gondola lift Taubensteinbahn starts in this village and runs all year.
