Wendelstein (mountain)

Soin is a mountain of Bavaria, Germany.

The Wendelstein Cable Car (Wendelstein-Seilbahn) is a 2,953-metre (9,688-foot) long cable car (US: aerial tramway) running from the village of Bayrischzell Osterhofen to Mount Wendelstein in the Bavarian Alps in Germany. It has a maximum speed of 10 m/s (32.8 ft/s) (36 km/h or 22.4 mph) and its travel time is 6.5 minutes. The cabins each take up to 50 passengers, and the cable car system has a transport capacity of 450 people per hour. The cable car climbs an altitude difference of 932 metres (3,058 feet). The cable car has a 50 mm (1.97 in) track rope and a 30 mm (1.18 in) haulage rope. Its engine has a maximum output of 490 hp (370 kW). It has one 75-metre (246-foot) tall pylon.

The Wendelstein Rack Railway (German: Wendelsteinbahn), sometimes just referred to as the Wendelstein Railway, is an electrically-driven metre gauge rack railway (with several adhesion sections) that runs up the Wendelstein in the Upper Bavarian Limestone Alps. Together with the Wendelstein Cable Car (Wendelstein-Seilbahn) it is operated by the Wendelsteinbahn GmbH. The mountain railway climbs through a total height of 1,217.27 metres (3,993.7 feet). The Wendelstein Railway is one of only four working rack railways in Germany, the others being the Bavarian Zugspitze Railway, the Drachenfels Railway and the Stuttgart Rack Railway. It is also the second-highest railway in Germany, after the Zugspitze Railway, but the highest when considering only open-air railways.

Fischbachau is a municipality in the district of Miesbach in Bavaria in Germany.

Fischbachau Priory (Kloster Fischbachau) was a Benedictine monastery located in Fischbachau, Bavaria, Germany. The monastery was founded in 1087 as a priory of Hirsau Abbey against the background of the Investiture Controversy and the Hirsau Reforms, by the monks who had previously formed the small monastery founded in 1077 at Bayrischzell by Haziga of Aragon, wife of Count Otto II of Scheyern, ancestors of the Wittelsbachs. The original site at Bayrischzell was soon abandoned for unsuitability and lack of water. Nor did the monastery remain long at Fischbachau; the community moved on, for much the same reasons as before, to yet another site at the little village of Petersberg, and from there a final time to Scheyern, where they remained and which became Scheyern Abbey. A small priory or cell remained however at Fischbachau, which was from then on a priory or cell of Scheyern, centred on the church of Saint Martin. This was refurbished in about 1700 in the Rococo style, of which it remains a spectacular example. The monastic community was dissolved during secularisation in 1803, and only the church is left.

Bad Feilnbach is a municipality in the Upper Bavarian district of Rosenheim at the foot of Wendelstein Mountain in Germany. As a famous 'Moorheilbad' (moor healing spa) the municipality was awarded in 1973 the title "Bad". Since the 19th century the peat deposits were the basis for a continued expansion of the spa and health facilities. The recognized healing success of "black gold" on a variety of diseases were the basis for the development of a well-known spa and tourist community. Due to its wooded surroundings and the mild climate Feilnbach is called the "Bavarian Meran". The entire municipality is recognized as a healing spa resort except for parts of the former municipality Dettendorf.
