Spitzingsee (village)

Spitzingsee is a lake in Bavaria, Germany. At an elevation of 1084 m, its surface area is 28.3 hectares (70 acres).

The Brecherspitz is a mountain in Bavaria, Germany. It is about 18 minutes from nearby towns of Fischbachau and Schliersee. From the top, you can see views of small lake Spitzingsee, Miesbach District, and Austrian Border.

The Roßkopf is a 1,580-metre-high (5,180 ft) peak in the Mangfall Mountains in Upper Bavaria. It lies in the south of the district of Miesbach right on the boundary between the parishes of Schliersee in the east and Rottach-Egern in the west, which forms the watershed between the lakes of Schliersee and Tegernsee. Other peaks on this line are the Bodenschneid and the Rinnerspitz further north. Due to its proximity to Munich, its relatively low height, easy ascents and picturesque location with views of the Spitzingsee and Tegernsee lakes, the Roßkopf is one of the most popular local mountains for Munich families. As a result, its grass-covered summit with its summit cross is often crowded on summer and autumn weekends in fine weather. In winter the Roßkopf is a popular area for powder skiers. A new chair lift links the Roßkopf to the Spitzing ski resort.

The Stümpfling is a mountain, 1,506 metres high, in the Bavarian Prealps. The mountain is an easy mountain walk from the Spitzingsee lake or from the Wildbach Hut. The Suttenbahn and Stümpflingbahn lifts run up the mountain to just below the summit.

Slyrs (German pronunciation: [ˈʃliːɐ̯s]) is a German whisky distillery in Schliersee, a small town in the Oberbayern region of Bavaria. The distillery is controlled by the Stetter family, which also operates a schnapps distillery previously used to distill Slyrs whisky.According to Andrea Stetter, one of Slyrs' managing directors, Slyrs whisky is fundamentally different from Scotch, with "... a mild, fruity taste ...", and "... can be drunk as soon as it is three years old."

The Bodenschneid is a 1,668 m high mountain in the Schliersee Mountains in the Mangfall range in the German Free State of Bavaria.

The Rinnerspitz is a 1,611 m high peak in the Schliersee Mountains in the Mangfall mountain range in the German Free State of Bavaria. It is also known by locals as the Peißenberg (not to be confused with the Hoher Peißenberg). It was here on 6 November 1877 that the poacher, Georg Jennerwein, was shot in the back.The Rinnerspitz lies between the peaks of the 1,668 m high Bodenschneid (430 m to the southeast) and the 1,552 metre high Wasserspitz (653 m north-northeast), in the southern part of the district of Miesbach and, like its neighbours, on the boundary between the parishes of Rottach-Egern in the west and Schliersee in the east. On the arête from the Wasserspitz to the Rinnerspitz, on the north flank of the summit, is the Jennerwein memorial cross. The municipal boundary on these and the other peaks marks the watershed between the Schliersee and the Tegernsee. The German Alpine Club (DAV) accommodation hut of Bodenschneidhaus on the Rettenböckalm, 500 metres northeast of the Rinnerspitz, is the nearest building. The nearest settlement is the small hamlet of Enterrottach (Rottach-Egern parish), 1.3 km further west on the Valepp Road (Valepp-Straße), which is a toll road from the exit of the hamlet towards Valepp (south). The Spitzingsee lies a good 3 kilometres east, and the border with the Tyrol near the Schinder mountain just under 8 kilometres south (both as the crow flies).

Schliersee is a natural lake in Upper Bavaria in the Bavarian Alps. It is located next to the small town of Schliersee in the Miesbach district. The lake has a surface of 2.241 square kilometres (0.865 sq mi) at an elevation of 777 metres (2,549 ft) AMSL, expanding 2.3 kilometres (1.4 mi) by 1.3 kilometres (0.81 mi) maximum. The average depth is 20 metres (66 ft) The maximum depth is 40 metres (130 ft). The only island is Wörth island, located almost in the middle of the lake. The lake is named for the monastery Kloster Schliersee ("Sliersee"), established in 779 at Kirchbichl nearby Westenhofen.

Schliersee is a small town (Markt) and a municipality in the district of Miesbach in Bavaria in Germany. It is named after the nearby Lake Schliersee. It comprises the districts Schliersee (town), Westenhofen, Neuhaus, Fischhausen, Josefsthal and Spitzingsee. Among the points of interest in Schliersee, a climatic health resort, is the St Sixtus church with a Holy Trinity group by Erasmus Grasser and wall and ceiling frescoes by Johann Baptist Zimmermann. The excellent quality of the water in the Schliersee is due in large part to the construction of a system for purifying waste water from the area surrounding the lake, which was supported by the state of Bavaria with large subsidies and low-interest loans.

Fischbachau is a municipality in the district of Miesbach in Bavaria in Germany.

Fischbachau Priory (Kloster Fischbachau) was a Benedictine monastery located in Fischbachau, Bavaria, Germany. The monastery was founded in 1087 as a priory of Hirsau Abbey against the background of the Investiture Controversy and the Hirsau Reforms, by the monks who had previously formed the small monastery founded in 1077 at Bayrischzell by Haziga of Aragon, wife of Count Otto II of Scheyern, ancestors of the Wittelsbachs. The original site at Bayrischzell was soon abandoned for unsuitability and lack of water. Nor did the monastery remain long at Fischbachau; the community moved on, for much the same reasons as before, to yet another site at the little village of Petersberg, and from there a final time to Scheyern, where they remained and which became Scheyern Abbey. A small priory or cell remained however at Fischbachau, which was from then on a priory or cell of Scheyern, centred on the church of Saint Martin. This was refurbished in about 1700 in the Rococo style, of which it remains a spectacular example. The monastic community was dissolved during secularisation in 1803, and only the church is left.

The Baumgartenschneid is a 1,448 metre high mountain in the Bavarian Prealps above the Tegernsee to the east.
