Oteen Veterans Administration Hospital Historic District is a historic hospital complex and national historic district located at Asheville, Buncombe County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 18 contributing buildings and 1 contributing structure associated with the Veterans' Administration hospital at Asheville. They were built between 1924 and 1940, and include white frame Colonial Revival and massive yellow stucco Georgian Revival structures. Notable buildings include the Administration Building (1928), Wards A and B (1925), Wards C and D (1930), Wards E and F (1932), Kitchen (1926) and Dining Hall (1930), Officers' Quarters (1927), and Nurses Dormitories (1930 and 1932). In 1967, a new Asheville, VA Medical Center complex was built adjacent to the original.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

Bruce A. and June L. Elmore Lustron House is a historic home located at Asheville, Buncombe County, North Carolina. It was built in 1949, and is a one-story, side-gable-roof Westchester Deluxe two- bedroom-model Lustron house. It is sheathed in dove grey and green enamel-finish steel panels. An addition was made to the house about 1985.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013.

Craven Gap (el. 3,132 ft (955 m)) is a mountain pass between Peach Knob and Rice Knob, part of the Elk Mountains and Great Craggy Mountains. NC 694 (Town Mountain Road) connects with the Blue Ridge Parkway at the gap, where it provides direct access to downtown Asheville. The gap also has trails for hikers and is a popular bicycle rest area.

The National Heritage Area includes the North Carolina portions of Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Other attractions include Mount Mitchell in Pisgah National Forest, Nantahala National Forest and the North Carolina portion of the Appalachian Trail. The Qualla Boundary of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians is also within the National Heritage Area. The area's musical heritage and folk craftsmanship are also recognized by the National Heritage Area.The National Heritage Area includes Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Buncombe, Burke, Caldwell, Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, McDowell, Macon, Madison, Mitchell, Polk, Rutherford, Surry, Swain, Transylvania, Watauga, Wilkes, Yadkin and Yancey counties.The Blue Ridge National Heritage Area was established 10 Nov 2003 by Public Law 108-108.

Bull Gap (el. 3,107 ft (947 m)) is a mountain pass on Bull Mountain, part of the Great Craggy Mountains. Though the Blue Ridge Parkway doesn't go through the gap, it is the most immediate to it and is accessible by hiking.

Municipal Golf Course, also known as Buncombe County Golf Course, is a historic golf course and national historic district located at Asheville, Buncombe County, North Carolina. The district encompasses one contributing building (the Clubhouse (1927)) and one contributing site associated with a course designed by Donald Ross and opened in 1927. The Municipal Golf Course was the first municipal course in North Carolina to be racially integrated.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

WPEK broadcasts with 5,000 watts by day using a non-directional antenna. Because 880 AM is a United States clear channel frequency reserved for 50,000 watt Class A WCBS in New York City, WPEK must sign-off at night to avoid interference. Swannanoa is a census-designated place (CDP) in Buncombe County, North Carolina, United States. The population 5,021 at the 2020 census up from 4,576 at the 2010 census. The community is named for the Swannanoa River, which flows through the settlement. It is part of the Asheville Metropolitan Statistical Area.
